Somehow the ocean seemed to be washing away any ounce of creativity Jackie had left. The models in his sketchie (the name he gave for a smooth black folder in which he kept his drawings) seemed to all be slowly adapting blue eyes and pale skin, and they where all standing in some kind of oceanic background.
He got up from his perch on the deck went down to the water. The cold waves against his feet and ankles was refreshing. After staring at the pages for so long, he had to squint to adjust his eyes when he saw something small bobbing on the horizon.
American survivors? He ran to the boat, checked through his binoculars, and with a wave of relief ran to get dressed; shoes and accessories in all. He zigzagged his side-part, which had been snagged about a bit, combed his hair, smoothed out his clothes, took one last check in the foldable mirror and set off to the waters edge with his sketchie in hand.
Everybody seemed worried by this, but I remembered what I had learned, so I said, "Don't worry. Sharks don't eat people unless they are starving."
The shark nudged the boat angrily.
"This one must be pretty hungry, then," Ash... that was that one's name... said with a smirk.
"What do we do?" I asked.
"I'll try to outdistance it," Cutter replied. "The island isn't that far off."
The boat began speeding towards the island, but the shark pursued. Mo saw some guy standing on the island wearing his Sunday best. Just standing there.
"What the- is that some sort of a ghost?" he frowned.
"Of course not," Amber replied. Then she called out, "Hey! Over here! Help!"
The shark scared me, and I wanted to get one shore as quickly as possible. I didn't look in the water, for I would have fainted.
"You okay, you look a little pale?" Mo asked. I can only nodd. Then I see the person running towards th boat, and I feel a new sense of security. I put my head between my knees and concentrate on breathing deeply and slowly, so I don't fall over.

Love is beautiful, but what would love be without life?
The guy on the island started running for his boat, and I swear I could hear him tinkling all the way out here. Like, seriously. How many accessories did that guy need? Ah, well. I checked around for the shark and found it right next to me only, y'know, in the water.
"Hey guys?" I asked, trying to sound as sweet as possible without throwing up. "Do you think if I try to touch the shark it'll eat me?"
"Don't touch it!" Mo screeched, rocking the boat slightly. I snickered at his expression. Something between hysterical and constipated.
"Geez, baby bro, don't get your undies in a bunch. Just curious..." I looked at that lovely smooth fin longingly, itching to just reach out and stroke it. It looked so....soft.
"Cutter, can you get the boat to go any faster?" Mo said through clenched teeth, gripping the edge of his bench.
"I think I can get a few more knots out of her, Mo. By the way, what do you think about calling this boat the Cody?"
Mo is silent, but I see happiness in his face. I turn back around and focus on the guy in the boat from the island. I wave, and he wave's back. The shark is still following us. I grit my teeth.
"C'mon, girl," I mutter, willing the boat to go faster.

He'd been watching for a while before he realised something was wrong. After staring through the binoculars again he saw the size of the fin that was rocking their little boat. He could save fuel and wait for them to arrive, or go through the more sensible option of making sure they actually got to the island.
He went back to the boat, went through the motions of starting it up himself and getting it off land, then went out into the water.
When he got to them his first thought was to be sure that he wasn't letting anyone dangerous onto the boat, which made him feel foolish once he realised they where all dirty, injured, and frightened.
Using the rope, I get across to the other boat. This guy was a lifesaver. I try not to look into the water, but I cant help but let out a little eep when I see the shark.
"Thank you." I say to the boy when we are all on the boat.
"No time for that." he says, and heads back towards the island.
I put my head between my knees and don't look up until we arive on shore.
"Thank you. By the way, I am Amber." I say, "And this is Josh, Ash, her brother Mo, and Cutter."
"Nice to meet you." He says, looking just at me.
"Encantada." I say, using the spanish phrase for 'nice to meet you too'. I decided Jackie must take spanish, because he laughed.
