foliage - where are you?
hidden beneath the
concrete tremor
only cement cracks show
a shade of green in the
darkened soot air
a young boy with stoney limbs
stares blankly out his bay window
crystal tears bearing fruit there
the advisory is always the same
the rain distilling thoughts of dread
and anguish
and as if in spite, a dead-autumn leaf spirals
down the gutter
