It's hard to believe I didn't see,
How evil the world could really be.
It's hard to believe I didn't smell,
The stench of smoke in this wretched hell.
It's hard to believe I didn't taste,
The bitter truth splashed in my face.
It's hard to believe I didn't feel,
How everything was so surreal.
And it's hard to believe I never heard,
The alarming cry of the battered bird.
-
It's hard to believe I didn't see,
The wretched face of society.
It's hard to believe I couldn't smell,
Their soured breath as they began to tell.
It's hard to believe I didn't taste,
The dust that hit me in the race.
It's hard to believe I didn't feel,
The frigid bite of chromium steel.
And it's hard to believe I never heard,
Any of the truth here in this world.
-
I can't believe this world is this way,
I just won't accept the end of today.
Not until a new world's born,
Which takes upon a whole new form.
The concience the ejected from their mind,
Leaving their mercy far behind.
They work with wickedness as their choice,
So when the morals are dead they can rejoice.
They'll use the blood to fuel their engines,
And but only propelled by failed vengence.
-
I look at this world with open eyes,
And evil is it's own demise.
I smell the stench with a twisted face,
The rotting body of the human race.
I tase the thick breath of the devil,
Emitting from not just one but several.
I feel the magma burn my hands,
And into the river my body lands.
And the last thing I hear is the majestic bird,
Crying victory over the entire world.

Okay, so hey there Timmy. Told ya I'd review for you!
Anyhoo (boy, what an awesome word, eh?), I like the poem you have here. It's actually quite nicely written and executed. The stanzas are very even and symmetrical. I like appearences of works, you see. ;)
Your rhyming is very good.
I don't have time for much, but there you are.

I rarely read poetry but this is good! It's amazing how you took the same theme for each section and made it progress on like a story.
Keep doing poetry. :P
