You'll defiantly get lots of feedback on your work, especially if you review others. And now, I suppose, the question at hand is, what do you enjoy writing? And reading?

Checking the blogs and jumping into chat are good ways to get to know people better. Or even posting randomly on guestbooks saying something about their avatar, signature or piece of literature is a good way of starting conversations and meeting friends.
