My new year’s resolution was to draw people. Real people and so I’ve stopped my silly manga drawing (for now) and have moved to drawing people.

I’ve only managed to draw a few so far but this is one of my few self portraits.
I haven’t managed to finish it yet, as you can see. :) I call it “Silence Kills” because there is no mouth right now. V.V

Hey, wow! This is cool!
You have talent!
I only found two problems;
1. The eye on the right side is darker and looks bigger.
2. Above the face is a shelf of hair that almost points upwards, which looks weird. Change please?

Otherwise brilliant! I like how the hair covers the eye and the nose, and the shape of the face! Keep drawing!

Way to big I can't tell what it looks like. Make it smaller at tinypic.com!
My reality comes to a close as I once again realize that you don't love me, and even if I love you with my everything you will never care.

Hey!

Well, first of all, you really need to reduce the size of the picture. A large picture will discourage the reviewer.
It's really good.You have talent!
2. The right pupil needs to be fixed as Durrie said.
3.Also; the shape of the right eye is different as compared to the left. Generally, in pictures, eyes tend to be an almost replica.
4.The part behind the nose, on the right side could do with a bit of more shading. Don't overdo it though.

Cheers!

Hey there!
This is a little big, but I'll make do.
Okay, the features are done amazingly, despite what the others say. You have demonstrated a talent for illustration and I especially like the headshape (even though I feel it reflects anime a little) and the eyes.
I think the hair needs a bit of perfecting but what you've got so far is well on the way to a very good drawing indeed.
The only nitpick I have is that when you draw people, you draw in realism which is a big change from the surreal-cartoony theme that surrounds anime, so you need to be very careful with proportions.
Anyway, keep up the drawing!
Ben.

I am jealous of the hair. haha
But yeah, everything said above, plus make it a little darker for the web. It's hard to make a lot of it out. (Of course that might just be my computer screen...)
I'm glad you set a goal for yourself. More practice and observation is all it takes, really. May I emphasize observation? If you're really looking, it'll all come a lot easier. You'll be able to draw a lot more realistically if you're observing rather than drawing, if you get what I'm saying.
Well, good luck!

Thanks for the reviews guys. :)

Durriedog, I shall work on that eye. It had been bothering me a bit but I wasn't sure how to fix it. I think I do now.
And the hair was that way when drawing it, so I probable won't change that.

Flower, I have fixed it. I hope it's not too small though.

Lava, actually I still have to do a lot of the shading. This was just a rough for me to start with. Now the point is actually getting me a mirror again. I broke mine on accident the other day. x.x And I'll work on those eyes. :smt001

Ben, I very much understand. I'm working on overcoming my childish ploys of drawing anime. Wish me luck. :smt005 Even these drawings are very much anime. My self portraits (like this one) look nothing like me- usually an Asian person takes my place :thud: .

Roy, I get exactly what you're saying. I do that everyday even if I'm not drawing (sometimes for my writing I do this too). :smt003 It drives me crazy- the things people do when they don't know some one's watching. v.v *It's your computer screen, just to let you know. If you have a desktop there are buttons and settings to change that problem.*

Thank you all again. I did not comment on repeated erks but I promise I will be drilling each and everyone of your comments down on paper to fix this piece. :)

Hiya! Classy, master of sketching (haha) is here!

I really like this. I am a bit thrown off by you not finishing the nose, but as for the mouth, I hate drawing mouths, and feel like they are an unnecessary part of the human body, so I won't bug you too much on that.

As for the eyes, however, I have some things to say. XD
The one on my rights' inside is way too large (the colored part and pupil). Look in the mirror and do this expression. Study it. Isn't the eye like the one on the right about half covered by your nose and the end of the eye? The eye on the right should be about 1/3 smaller than the one on the left, just because of the position it is looking in. Just practice it and you will be soon to get it right.

The hair.
I really like the hair. It isn't shaped with ugly lines that end too soon, it is just right. I just think you should add a bit of shading to it.

Wonderful artist. Ta ta!

Heeeey!

It's so good to see you back around here. Where have you been? You haven't been around in forever!

This is good! As far as sketches go, I can't really critique much of this, but I do think that beyond, sketching, you have so much potential with this. The eyes are off, though -- the left eye is much darker than the right, and that kind of throws me off. Otherwise, it's wonderfully done. I really love the hair. You did an amazing job with it. :)
