My main question is, can I ask for some ideas on writing?
Is that like, allowed?
I have major writer's block about my current project. I'll explain everything once I get the Ok.

Hey Caterpuff, welcome to YWS! As BeautifulDoom has said we're pretty much a free for all around here and asking for help with writing is certainly allowed, there are whole sections dedicated to that like the writing tips section, fiction tips section... if you're unsure you can also always post your thread in The Lounge.

If you have writers block, the best thing for it I think is to plug in your headphones and listen to music .Only your favourite songs. Trust me it helps. Good luck

So, welcome to YWS. I'm glad you're liking it a bit. Sure, it can be intimidating, but in a good way. I haven't come across anyone here who's mean yet; the only intimidation I've had was from how awesome, thorough, and helpful the reviews I get/see are. And that, trust me, is a good thing.

So, about ideas for writing.
Usually, I'll start with a character and then look at prompts and see what my character would do in response to those. Chances are, one of them is going to spawn a plot idea. Or sometimes I'll do runecastings or card spreads for ideas. I've got a few decent prompt sites if you'd like me to PM them to you; one of them actually does the card reading for a plot. I'm not sure if that's your thing, but I'm throwing it out there.

The music idea was a good one.

Also, one member here, Jiggity, gave me a pretty strange but helpful piece of advice. He told me, when I had writer's block, to "have someone punch your main character in the face." It spawned a novel.

So if you need any further help, feel free to throw me a PM, or even just keep asking on your welcome thread if you like. Also, if you browse around "writing resources" (at the top of the page in the menu) there are some threads with writing exercises, tips...anything you could ever need, chances are you'll find it there.
