Vocabulary

I hope this isn't a repeat and that it's posted in the right forum.

Whenever I hear a word I don't know very well, I write it down on this ginormous list I have. This has been going around for the past year. I've counted the list, and I have well over 750 words there...

What my problem is, is that I need to get around to learning them. But is there a way to make it not as tedious and long?

What I do is look up the word as close as possible to when I hear it. Usually it's over IM (A friend of mine has one pretty big vocabulary) so I do a quick Google search.

When faced with a huge list like that, scan what words look interesting/odd and look those up first. Then it's like a match up game. ^_^

I would suggest learning one a day. Maybe finding the definition in the morning, learn it, and use it in every day life. That way you can get a feel to how it really means, and how it is used.
