"I want to find it then return it to the government where it belongs."

"Ah, so we are fighting on the same side then." His french was impecible, I would give him that. He stepped back. He looked me over.

"You could actually be of some use to us. How would you like a job as a spy?"

"A spy?"

"Why not, you are young, no one would suspect you, you speak two languages and seem to be very clever."

"I speak four, french, German, Spanish and English."

"Impressive."

"My other option." I asked. he let out a dark chucle.

"You don't want to know."

Mr. Jones

It wasn't really Mr. Jones's place to offer up positions like that, but he was curious. Besides, the girl could probably be useful.

"Try me," she asked defiantly.

"Very well. I could have you held at our base for three months without cause. And to be honest, I think you've given me cause enough."

Ebony watched him closely, not answering yet.

"Your choice. Cooperate and help me, or..."

**xD! The nametag business made me laugh.**

Oscar.

"Er," said Oscar quietly, "I'm, er, going to ... go now." Even this simple sentence brought beads of sweat to his pale forehead. He was no good at the covert business. He just wanted the earthquake machine! He didn't want to go through all this kerfuddle to get his hands on it.
Before Sylvia could reply, he'd shoved some money onto the table and dashed out onto the street. Poor Sylvia probably didn't know what was going on. But then again, Oscar reflected, she'd probably never heard of the Tesla machine either.
Oscar swore silently when there was no sign of the allusive man whom he'd caught talking about the machine.
Where could he be? Oscar pondered silently, walking up the street hastily.
"It is curious how often you humans manage to obtain that which you do not want."

-Spock.

"Or die." It wasn't much of a choice, but... "I guess I will have to join the spy business."

"Glad to have you on board." He said with mock enthusiasm.

"What will I tell my family?"

He thought for a minute. I suddenly have an idea.

"Actually... what we could do is have a letter arrive at my house, saying I have been offered a chance to go to a boarding school on a full scholarship in Peru. I can accept. Then I actually pack what I would need to be a...spy. My parents won't suspect a thing."

"That would work. I will send you a fake letter with 'information' on the school. But I can have your instructions written in ink on the back that won't show unless you use this." He tossed me a little flashlight.

"What is it?"

"A black light flashlight. Look for the letter in a few days." I went back to the first floor and left. I drove to the mall, (because I needed evidence I went shopping), with a mixture of fear and excitement in my heart.

The letter arrived. I opened it eagerly. The letter was flawless. In a matter of five minute I had convinced my dad to let me go. I ran up to my room.

I took the flashlight out of a small drawer in my room. I put it to the back of the paper. It said:

Ebony,

Meet me in my office at Seattle on Monday at five o'clock sharp. You will finish getting your instructions there.

Mr. Jones

I read the letter over. Something clicked in my mind. It was already Sunday! I quickly threw a random assortment of outfits into a bag. Some classy, some very simple. My mind was in full blown panic mode.

Monday came, me and dad said out cheesy goodbyes. He was in tears, I was only faking them. I drove to Seattle, and went up to the office of Mr. Jones. My suitcase and other things were still in my car.

"Welcome," He said.

"Hi," I replied. He smiled.

"What you will do for me is very simple, your first mission requires little training. You will pretend to be a intern for Silvia Black. She made the copy of the machine. I am sorry this is a rushed assignment, but everything is balancing on a knife blade." He handed me a bunch of papers.

"Everything you will need to know. And by the way, Silvia has an intern, become friends with her, she could slip something very important to us."

I nod.

He gestures towards a coffee machine, "Coffee?"

Malcolm

The girl on the ground had been saying something about theft before she went down. But what kind of thief carried a taser? This stunk of something a whole lot more than an ordinary mugging or robbery. But there was still the machine to think of - running down this line of inquiry without knowing what he was dealing with could be a serious waste of time.

He bent over the victim as she came to, apparently just one more of a crowd of survivors, though a quick few phone calls meant that he'd effectively taken charge of the situation. Paramedics from a private hospital run by one of his contacts were already on the way. A private detective he knew was trying to get something on whoever had taken it - working off a fairly vague description, the direction he'd taken, and nothing more than that.

"You alright?" Malcolm asked her. "What'd that guy zap you for?"

"Are you kidding me?" She sputtered, "He robbed me, and I caught up with him! That's it!"

Malcolm ushered a few people back, seeing the paramedics approaching them. He crouched down beside her again, looking meaningfully at her. "What did he take from you?" Certainly, the questions were very presumptive, since he didn't know her at all, but Malcolm had never been great at hiding his curiosity.

I flip throught the stack of papers he has given me. There are five papers:

A birth certificate that says Brooklyn Walker.
A list of things about someone called Brooklyn Walker.
A mission overview.
A list of things I need to know about Silvia Balck and her intern.
A few pages on machanical engennering.

"Who is Brooklyn?" I ask.

"Well, you of course." Mr. Jones answers, "You will pretend to be an intern for Silvia Black. You, of course, can't use your real name. From now on you are Brooklyn Walker from Canada, the french speaking part. You have a list of the rest of things you will need to know about yourself. Brooke, for short. And we will have to have someone in the disguise department give you a serious, um, retouching."

"Retouching?"

"A complete makeover, from hair to eye color, even a bit of tanning would be nice. Since you start tomorrow we will need to get you down there immediately."

"Tomorrow?" I asked as he began to lead me through the hallways.

"Yes," he said, opening a door. a sort of salon is set up inside,"Margret, we have another project for you." He goes up and whispers in her ear. She nods, then lead me over to a chair. As of tomorrow I would be Brook Walker.

*Virginia*

What did I say to that? I had no idea what was in that package. All I knew was that it was important. What was something else that was important?

"Um...he took my mother and father's wedding rings." I blurted.

The nice guy raised an eyebrow. "Really."

"Yeah. My parents died a few weeks ago and I was going to get their rings appraised when he took it from me." Not my most convincing lie, but I didn't really do it a lot.

"Well, I could try and help you find him." He offered. "By the way, I'm Malcolm." He held out his hand.

"Virginia."

I wake up the mext morning in a hotel room the CIA provided for me. I couldn't go back to my house, what would my dad think? I streched and looked over on my side table. on it was a note:

Brooke,

Go to the Sillhaven Institute of Technoledgy (SIT) at noon. Introduce yourself as brook walker. They will know who you are. Don't forget, you are 18 years old. You are interning for Silvia to get us information. Destroy this note. I wish you the best.

Tom

I rip up the note and throw it in the nearest trash can. I pack up my things and go to the SIT building. I give my name and are led down to a small labratory. A young girl, maybe a few years younger than me, is already there.

"Who are you?" I ask, even though I know.

"Virgina." She says, "Are you the new intern?"

"Yeah, hi I am Brooke." The words felt strange on my tounge. She shakes my hand. This was going to be very easy.

The only tough part would be keeping my accent to a minimum.

Tom Jones

Well, the girl was out of his hair now, and since she was now a spy that meant they could all keep a close eye on her. Jones leaned back in his chair and rubbed his temples.

They'd be coming to pick up the machine tomorrow.

He made sure it was locked in his safe before going down the stairs. It would be a good idea to keep his eyes open for Silvia Black and her compatriots. If they were serious about this, they might try to get the machine back.

A foolish move it would be, he thought as he left the building. They had less chance of breaking that safe open and leaving without being caught than of breaking into the White House.

Ebony/(Brooke)

Virgina gives a slight nod in my direction. Then Silvia bursts in from a door, papers flying everywhere, her hair in complete chaos.

"Someone.Fix.The.Copying.Machine.NOW!" She screams. I run to the room to find the machine throwing out papers. I push a red button and it turns off. I go back into the main room.

I walk up to Silvia, "I am Brooke."

"Oh, hello, I have been expecting you." We shake hands. She doesn't see through my disguise.

"Well, we have been working on remaking a machine that was lost a while ago." I nod.

"What machine?"

"A Telsa Earthquake machine." I pretend to have never heard of it.

"What will I be doing?"

"Mostly making copies of diagrams of the machine." This was so easy. They were handing me the information. I nod again.

She hands me a paper. It looks like a top view of a round device. 'copy this, I need one copy. I go and make two. One I give to her.

The other I send to Mr.Jones.
