Okay, so the other day, while dreamily skimming through DevianArt, I stumbled across a contest asking you to write a letter to yourself. And though I'm not sure if I'm going to submit it to the contest yet, I am going to submit it here.

Littlest Lil,
You don’t know it yet, but you’re going to be special.
No, you’ll never save the world or cure some terrible illness. But you are going to change lives. Do you remember that story you used to tell at your pretend tea parties? It was that tale about the little girl who was swept away to some far off land and changed into a princess. And that princess made lots of friends, met prince charming, and had her happily ever after.
Well it may not happen just like that, but it will happen in its own way.
That far off land won’t be a magical kingdom but it will be your home. And there will be times when you’ll dream of running away from your kingdom. But you would never really want it that way.
And no you’re not going to change into a princess. But you’ll eventually grow out of your baby fat and you’ll grow into your curves. You’ll love your curves. You’ll figure out the art of putting on lipstick though you’ll always struggle to put your eyeliner even on each eye. You’ll never be the model on the cover of a magazine, but you’ll have your own brand of pretty.
And you’ll embrace that pretty. You’ll hold your head high when you walk through the halls of high school. The books you loved will never leave you but rather grow with you and become a part of you. You’ll have a world of knowledge at your hands.
You won’t have as many friends as you imagined, but you’ll have two best friends. You’ll love them like family and they will be your loyal court. There’s one, he will be the minstrel who would beat the life force out of anyone to protect you. And you’ll have a lady in waiting who you’ll probably spend more time waiting on than she on you. But that doesn’t matter. She’ll always be there when you need an ear to cry into.
You won’t cry a lot, but when you do, it will be the fault of fake princes. They’ll stand you up, find girls who they imagine they love more than you, and some of them will use you. But one day, when you least expect it, you’ll meet a true prince. He’ll love your curves and the way your hair falls against your shoulders. He’ll hold you close and the promise he made about never leaving you, about loving you forever, he’ll keep them.
Littlest Lil, you don't know it yet, but you're going to be special.
Bigger Lil
Never forget who you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.

I wish I were little lil!

When I read this, I got tingles. If my future self were to send me a letter like this, I would believe everything is going to be alright, you know?

This is very inspirational and all the while beautiful. I love how you take a fairytale story and put a modern twist on it, therefore making it seem like more of a reality.

You should definitely enter it in the contest.

This was such a beautiful read. As Classy said, I wish I were little lil!
It makes me feel happy and yep, tingly.

Definitely enter it.

Pretending in words was too tentative, too vulnerable, too embarrassing to let anyone know.
