Okay! We’re starting! I know, these posts are kind of short, but we didn’t have anything planned, and I didn’t know what you all wanted.

James

James looked about him, his friends and their friends reading by streetlamp or keeping watch or sleeping. There were seven other kids, most of which he hadn’t even known existed before. It was nice to know he wasn’t the only one like… him.

Rosette was still awake, lying on a bench with her hands behind her head. She was the one who had told him about the others who were escaping. He marked his place in the book he had brought, replaced one of his dictionaries with it in his bag and headed over to her.

“Hi,” he said in a loud whisper. She turned to look at him and smiled. “Want to play Fictionary?”

Sabrina/Star

It was so boring, running and hiding and not getting caught. There was nothing to do but keep moving. As everyone sat-slash-stood there, with the stars in the sky and the stench of a busted sewer pipe filling the air, I could have sworn that being normal would have been better.

We were in the middle of nowhere, the forgotten corner of some park. Vines crept up any rusting structures left. The light given by the lamp was just bright enough to read by, leading to a small pack of kids huddled underneath it. Locusts sang as loud as possible. One of the guys of the gang was snoring beside me and I groaned. With a sharp kick to his ribs I turned over and shut my eyes, hoping for a catnap.

Rosette~

"Okay prepared to get creamed" I laughed at James. He sat next to me on the seat staring at the dictionary I held protectively in my hand. "What is the word cacoepy?” I blinked at him staring from the yellow incrusted pages. I saw him nod thoughtfully a twinkle in his eyes “Is it one: a tent with roof holes for astronomical observations, two: telling fortunes with dregs of hot chocolate, three: a dwelling constructed of dried dung" I cringed at this one giggling to myself. "Four: bad pronunciation, five: medical procedure for examination of the retina or six: a dwarf coconut tree?”
I stared at him hoping he would fail to get it. The night air licked at my face sending icy shives down my spine. Stars twinkled across the dark blue night sky illuminating it with a crystal glow. I stared up at the small winged bugs circling the light post above me. The yellow glow lit up the area where I and many others were supposedly hiding.
“I’m going to go with four; bad pronunciation” He grinned at me. I pouted my lips looking down at the small notebook next to me I picked up the pen and drew a line next to James’s name.
“Correct” I muttered through gritted teeth passing the dictionary to him.
“And totalling that” he hunched over the notepad squinting in the dim light. “That gives me ten points and you only have….seven” He began to laugh almost rolling off of his seat.
“Well you’re still going to get creamed, this isn’t over!” I crossed my hands across my chest sulkily.
“Alright what is the definition for melicrate; A: to smooth the way, B: a wooden container for ballast, C: a beverage of honey and water, D: to rule with kindness, E: to besmirch a reputation or F: a drip meter” he stared up from the page smiling evilly.
“Well it’s not A or C….Maybe not B I think it might be D but than that leaves E and F. What was F again…a drip meter. I think it might be F” His smile began to waver as he stared back down to the dictionary. “Yeah lock me in on F: A drip meter” I grinned as he picked up the pen marking a wavy line next to my name.

Alex

He watched with quiet bemusement as Ephraim talked to the people around him, excited to meet others just like them. Being so easy to get along with, Eph had always seemed so easily calm, unlike him who sat, watching with the end of his cross in his mouth and a pair of headphones perched precariously on his neck. He had been previously listening to classical Beethoven, but, as the song shuffled, he was in the process of listening to Hey Jude by the Beatles. It had always been his favourite song.

Watching without a word, he waited for Eph to come back and sit, hoping desperately that he wasnt going to try and make Alex meet people again. He always ended up making a complete fool of himself either way.

He hadn't even been sure of coming tonight at all if it hadn't been for Eph's constant complaining that he should. He hated gatherings. Hated anything that had to do with a pile of strangers in which he was 'supposed' to comingle with. Of course, he refrained without a second thought, but the idea of being quite vulnerable never left his mind.

He pictured the piano. It's silken ivory keys... had it not been for that image, he would for surely have been to afraid to ever leave his own house.

Grimancing, he turned his eyes towards the battered up ipod in which was blasting away. Onto a more modern music choice, it was. All time low. Very catchy... lyrics left something to be desired.

**If anyone wants to jump in and say hi, you can ^_^. He's just... insanely shy.**

Rosette~

I clenched my jaw; it was starting to hurt from chattering most of the night. Getting to my feet I stretched my back waiting for the affirmative click. Shrugging when it didn't happen I turned to see if I hadn't become acquainted with anyone. A shy looking boy was staring at the group biting into a cross around his neck.
He had spent the whole time sitting under the forked tree instead of talking to anyone. His eyes were slightly glazed as he listened to the music pulsing in his ears. Muttering something to James I walked towards his stumbling a little.
"Hi" I said waving my hand in his face. He blinked for a minute before registering I was in front of him. He slid back a bit staring up at me.
"Hi I am Rosette" I grinned poking my tongue out. He watched me for a second before a thin smile spread across his face. He clenched on to his cross a little too tightly
"Alex"
"It's nice to meet you" I sat down next to him staring up into the aluminous moon. "What do you think about all this" I gestured towards the group still chattering noisily.
"Oh...ah it's okay"
"So you don't mind running away from freaky people" I raised an eyebrow. He shrugged slightly “No I don’t like running away”
“Well I slightly do because I mean…well this is fun!” I was practically jumping around on the spot smiling into the moon. The breeze made the tree behind me sway dangerously, leaves beginning to tumble slowly towards the ground in a mass of flips and twirls. My hair was pushed back swaying slowly in rhythm to the wind that pushed it.
“Fun…running for your life in fun” he said plainly staring at me as if I was weird.
I began to giggle, I nodded slightly “Well yes sort of”
“Okay” he said slowly returning to look down at his I-Pod screen.
“What do you think of it?” I asked
“I don’t know” he shrugged placing the end of the cross into his mouth again.
“Are you religious?” I asked pointing at it. He shook his head letting it fall back onto his chest. I saw James swaying as he talked loudly over the rest of the group.
“Would you like to meet the others?” I pointed at them.

*Elaine*

I was sitting alone, just watching the others meet each other. I wanted to watch before I joined in on the conversation. There were all types of prodigies here.

I stood up and stretched. My muscles were somewhat sore. I hadn't done much dancing in the past couple of days.

I walked around the group, looking for someone that might like me, and I might like them back. I didn't get far when I heard someone come up behind me.

**Anyone can come on in :) **

Regis

Regis sat, fingers entwined with his head resting upon them, elbows rudely against the table and watched. He just sat and merely watched. As he had expected of the other prodigies the majority of them looked nothing like what he had expected.

Expecting glasses, skin and bone thinness and acne, was too stereotypical, so Regis had imagined them in all sorts of sizes, colouring and gender. So, he watched them. He enjoyed watching people.

It made them more distant. Less real. Just less . . .

Some of the other's talked and he tuned into their conversation as if it were a channel on the TV.

“What do you think of it?” one of them asked
“I don’t know,” the other shrugged placing the end of his cross into his mouth.
“Are you religious?” the first asked pointing at it.
2 shook his head letting it fall back onto his chest.
“Would you like to meet the others?” 1 pointed at the people around Regis and possibly at Regis himself.

Feeling like they were going to intrude upon him, he pulled out his phone, and began to work on recoding the program on his phone. Perhaps if they saw him concentrate enough on something else they would leave him alone.

Regis always enjoyed coding programs, they felt like . . . nature to him, more natural than the actual world. That was why he was also an ace at biology. To know to code properly was to know how nature worked.

He eventually grew so concentrated on the phone that he no longer remembered his reason to be where he was. As he only used his right hand, he ran his thumb over the tip of the middle spike on his bracelet.

Alex

He wanted to shake his head when she had asked. Such a silly gesture and yet he knew he had to, as if he didn't really have a choice whether he could or not. He stood up wearily, lips curling around the wood that was becoming more and more chewed with each day. Soon he would have to replace the cross again, like the prior ones before it. It wasn't really the cross that made much of a difference anyways. It was, after all, just a cross.

Glancing at Rosette, he stood up and followed after her as she led him to more people. He had not wanted to say anything at all. It was easier not to.

He looked around at the people, more close now so he could catch the small details. There was a girl, scanning the group as he was in front of him. She looked small but slight. A beautiful girl, by far, but she seemed to be looking for something or someone. He turned his eyes away the back, wondering if he should say something or not... It seemed that Rosette was getting closer to her.

He opened his mouth to say something, the closed it impishly, eyes staring at the ground. Finally he spoke, weakly, but surely. "Um... hello?"

The girl spun around, her golden curls bouncing as her step was very fluid. Almost too graceful. She stared at him, eyes wide.

"Oh, hello."

"Um... yeah..." he scratched the back of his head. "I'm Alex..."

She looked at him then smiled reaching her hand out. "Elaine."

Ahh! O.O I am sooooooo sorry XD

*Elaine*

The boy named Alex stood a couple of inches taller than me, but he looked terribly uncomfortable.

After an awkward silence, I started asking him questions. "So, what are you good at, Alex?"

He shifted and kept his eyes away from mine. "Piano."

For whatever reason, when he said that, it clicked with me. "Wait a minute!" I squealed. "You're the Alex! Alex Holbrook?"

When he nodded, I smiled so big the wind hurt my teeth. "I absolutely love your music. I dance to it all the time. I don't know how you do it, but the emotion you put into it it's just...mind blowing!"

I felt like a stupid fan girl but I couldn't help it. I was a huge fan of his, and I wanted him to know.

He looked at me and smiled, a real, honest-to-goodness smile.

Maxi
I walked into the camp where a few people walked about. I had been told to come here by the voice, but I did not know why.

A boy with black, wispy hair was talking to a girl. She had golden curls that shone in the sun. I approached cautiously, one carful step at a time. I cleared my throat so I could be heard.

“I am Maxinea. The voice... I mean, someone... told me to come here, you know, after my parents died. I am not exactly sure what this is, though.” I said.
I swallowed, the girl looked at me a minute, then said gently, “I am Elaine. This is Alex. We don’t really have a name, but we are some kids who kind of ran away and banded together. “

“What voice.” Alex asked.

“It was just a slip of the tongue.” I said quickly.

“Oh,” he said, he didn’t press the matter.

“Why don’t I take you to Sabrina, she knows more about here than I do.” Elaine said. I nodded, and we walked off deeper into the camp.
