One day, Toshiba woke to see Key standing over her with a bone in his mouth. He wagged his tail and dropped the bone and let out a howl. He was saying that he and Toshiba were part of the Hunter Squad. Key had been trying to get wolves in the pack to join his Hunter Squad, but they refused. Only Cassandra would join. Now she dropped out because Toshiba had joined.
In glee, Toshiba tossed back her head and howled with him. She was part of a team now and she was accepted by Key. Silver and Tall were nice to her and Allie was very friendly, but Key was now a permanent friend. Feeling this way about him, Toshiba decided he could see the death and burial spot of her brother. She barked telling Key to follow her. He picked up his bone and lopped after her.
Toshiba lead him across places she knew he never went for she took out of his territory. Finally they reached their destination. Here, Toshiba dug until Key could see the head of her brother. She then began howling in sorrow.
Key joined only his song sang sorrow and a new name for her brother: Shadow Teller. She liked that name and sang of a dead wolf named Shadow Teller. Toshiba knew that her brother would have loved the name Shadow Teller.
“Aroooo!” Tall’s voice lifted over the trees telling them to return. Sadly, Toshiba lead Key away from Shadow Teller after the wolf was buried again. She remembered his sleek white body and black face. He was very funny. The day the hunter shot him changed her life forever. Mother, who’s name was Queen and was dead, had never told them anything before she died because she died the instant they were born and they had to have Aunt Sherry take them in. They had never known death. It was crushing for Toshiba to have it now.
Days passed and something was becoming clear. Key was falling in deep thought over Shadow Teller. He always pondered the thought of the wolf and sat, howling songs to the white wolves, but only Toshiba answered.
One day, Key howled to the White wolf Pack to the east and none answered. Something punched Toshiba in the stomach. It was the sudden occurring truth that she, Toshiba the great white wolf, was the entirely last white wolf … in the whole world!!!
