I was told that I could post this here.
I've noticed that there are a lot more photographers posting on YWS and so I have decided to try and reboot the photography group. In this post I will try and convey how I want to do this! Hopefully you will all wish to join me in making the photography group something amazing!
• Learning – I would like the photography group to be a place not only where we share our photographs but also a place where people can learn from each other and acquire new photography skills. We have quite a group of photographers on YWS and I think we should use all their knowledge.
• Projects – A good way for people to learn would be to have projects running every couple of weeks. I will start this off for you by using some projects that I did in my first year at university. Others may run projects later if they want to or if I don’t have time. I want to utilise everyone’s skills.
• Involvement – I don’t want it to end up just being me striving to keep you all involved. This is your group as well! I want you to post topics and keeps things alive in this group!
• Sharing – The photography group can still be a place to share your photographs and gain feedback from each other, especially if you are not confident enough to post in the Art and Photography forum. You could also post about a photography project you are currently doing or any number of things.
• Tips and Sources– Do you have any helpful photography tips? Then share them in the tips thread that will be created and help others learn what you have learnt. Do you have a good website, source or book that really helped you? Then perhaps you would like to show everyone else.
• Photographers – Do you have a favourite photographer? Has a photographer really inspired you? Then share it with all of us!
• Help – I want everyone in this group to help everyone else. Do you have a question that you need answered? Do you need help progressing your photography from that of an amateur? Then there will be a specific thread for you to ask away in.
• Fun – A main factor of this group is to have fun with photography! Because if it isn’t fun then it’s not worth doing this. I want people to enjoy learning and get excited by photography! I want to stay away from what happened to me in my first year of university, when I got tired of analysing the inner meanings and stopped taking photographs. I want you all to have fun and be eager to grow, as photographers and I want you to love photography!
