"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost." ~J. R. R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
It's an interesting picture. The shading is well-done, but there needs to be more of a focus on the flower. Right now, the flower is the center-piece of the photo, but the effect is lost since it blends in with everything else.
A way around that may be add a soft focus on the flower and blur everything around it.
I thought the photo was beautiful. However, I found the hairtie on her arm distracting. Also I would have removed the chipped fingernail polish. Paying attention to the minor details can make your photography that much better.
I am not addicted to reading, I can quit as soon as I finish one more chapter.
Ah, I agree with both Nate and Moriah... Although I do think this picture is quite beautiful, it also reminds me of the Twilight book cover, instead of the apple it's a flower xD My only tip for you would be to focus more on the flower and maybe play with the contrast of this picture. Anyways, gold star!

There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are. -W. Somerset Maugham
This is really good. I agree with pinkshearwater that it seems a bit like the twilight cover crossed with the new moon cover. but... on the other hand, this is beautiful and you've captured the flower in a way that shows it's true beauty. and yes, i also agree that you should close up on the hand holding the flower, or try a different way of showing it so it doesn't seem like twilight/new moon. maybe hold it with your index finger and thumb from the stalk and take a picture of it dangling there, just the fingers and flower. Not too much arm or anything around it.
But other than that, i think you've done a great job.

Hey Manda! I really liked the picture, is well done, the shading was well done and the black and white effect is well done. But I find some of the background a bit distracting, maybe try cutting the picture or making the focus on the flower clearer. a nice effect that you could have made was putting the whole background on black and white and leaving the flower with its color. It would have looked really nice. Try i! really!. Try playing with the effects and with the picture, try it with different angels, although this one is really pretty.
So I loved it is really well done.
XOXO Pudin.

As Moriah said, that hair tie sure is distracting. My attention keeps getting drawn to it instead of the actual flower! And as Pink and Pudin mentioned, this pic looks a lot like Twilight cover...
I think you can also cut off that bottom part, below the flower and her hands. I mean, it's all blurry and I find myself thinking, Why is that in there?
Did not mean to be offensive in that last comment! Just my opinion. But you definitely have some great pics here on YWS! Keep posting.

I really like this and the realistic aspect of it. Unlike the Twilight cover, it actually looks like it's coming from a human. (and I suppose the Twilight one not coming from a human makes sense...) The realistic sense example: How you can see the body the hands belong to in the back of the picture. You can even see the legs that get smaller and smaller, adding the illusion of an angle. Well done! I like it. ~Classy
Very nice picture. The main problem is that the rubber band is too dark and you find yourself looking at it, not the flower. Maybe use a tool to make it gray, not black. Also, if this was originally a color photo, maybe leave some color on the inner edges of the flower to add emphasis?
Very nice otherwise!

I like this! I agree with most the others on this photo. The ponytail is quite distracting. Next time try to remember to keep things like that out of pictures. I like the b&w, though I would love to see it in color as well. Something else that might look cool is to play around with more effects like make the flower in color but the rest of the picture in b&w. If you don't have a feature like that on your computer I know there is a way on photobucket. Just an idea. Great job! :D
Hmm, as others have mentioned, the flower seems to blend in and become unimportant. Being in the center of the photo, however, draws our eyes and makes the flower somewhat the centerpiece. If you have a simple Photoshop program (and hopefully the same picture, but with color) you can color the flower and leave the rest greyscale. If you do not have another picture, then use the color-replacement tool and put it on low opacity. Use that to color in the flower. I believe that would draw out the flower too much, so you can play around with fading, feathering (try not to get sharp, bold lines, as this picture has a homey, down-to-earth feeling already) or an even lower level of opacity. About the whole Twilight deal, yeah, it does seem similar. but it doesn't matter, it's creative and beautiful in its own way. The black wristband does distract, as does the blurry bottom of the picture, so you can consider removing the former in other pictures, and removing the latter in this picture. Hope I helped, Jenthura.
