Here's an entertaining thought!

If you had the chance to have one psychic ability, would you take it? Feel free to explain your answer. For your answer, go ahead and touch on the philosophical or moral bent as to why you'd do or not do it! Would you use it for the greater good, or for your own gain?

I personally vote empathy, because I feel that if I had the ability to sense others' emotions, it would be infinitely easier for me to help those around me who need help but don't outwardly show it. With being able to sense emotions, but not thoughts, I would learn just enough about those around me without being intrusive and prying into their own personal lives. Not to mention... I really don't want to know what goes on in some peoples' minds!

Why?:
Predicting the future =That's so Raven, and who wants that?
Reading Minds = As if I need more voices in my head.
Telekenesis = I'd be probed by the government and exploited in tabloids, woohoo...that'd suck
If I came up with it = There's no way it wouldn't have consequences
Empathy = That helps in all fields of work and you can get closer to people through their emotions than their thoughts.
One more thing about empathy: (You'd know who liked you and you wouldn't have to wonder, how awesome would that be?)

Predicting the future? No. It would make life boring, I'd cease to be surprised, which would be torture.
Reading Minds? Only if I could shut it off. I'm distracted enough in my own brain without having the distractions of every brain in the vicinity.
Telekenesis? This would be fun. If I got real good, I could do all sorts of things simultaneously. Can you imagine jumping out of the shower and having your towel jump to your hand? What about making a sandwich across the house and then levitating it to your room? I'd probably only use this power for mundane ordinary things that I otherwise would have distract me. I suppose I could use it for both good and evil, but it probably be for good, cause I'm nice.
Empathy? It is useful in some cases, like determining intent, but I think it would become just as bothersome as mind reading.

I say telekinesis because it's the most practical. Reading minds would drive me crazy, and if I could predict the future, I might want to change it but probably wouldn't succeed (as someone said, That's So Raven). Empathy might be cool, but I don't need other people's emotions weighing me down. I've got enough of it on my own. Telekinesis could not only be fun for a party trick, but you could use it to move stuff you can't find into view or answer the phone without getting up and other cool stuff.

All 3, telekineses, mind reading (if I can control it pretty well), and predicting the future (for weather and crap, or just making bets and reaping in cash, and if I can control it pretty well).

Dude, telekineses, can anyone say jedi powers (except for the whole jedi mind trick)

Id also like to insert thoughts into someone's brain, like talk to them without talking to them.

Actually, subconsciously predicting the future, like a few seconds ahead in dire circumstances.
You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, instead, you should read every single book to see what every book is about before you even come close to judging its viability.

That's funny, really. It would seem That's So Raven has killed off all those wanting to predict the future in the world! And yes, I would agree with the thought that it would take the fun out of life, especially if I couldn't control whether my predictions would follow through.

Is it just me, or does everyone suddenly realize that having telekinetic powers would make someone extremely lazy? Haha, you could become a veritable Jabba, just sitting on a couch with your globbular body jug-jiggling about like a can of moldy Spam. (My apologies for all who have quick enough imaginations to immediately visualize said can in all its smelly glory.)

People who claim they have empathy say it sucks a lot of times. Personally, I believe that the depression is come from them but they blame it on empathy (denial).

If I had one of those skills, it'd be telepathy (because it'd make you lok cool) or else reading minds (very useful).
I wrote the above just for you.

Don't be so quick to judge empathy, Sureal.

Anyway, I think I'd want telekinesis. I'd rather not dabble in anything else - empathy is hard enough. Although it might be fun to read people's minds... Only if I could switch it off, though.

Heres what it says for me.

Psionics is your specialty.
You seem to know every thought that comes to everyone's minds and every word before it comes out of anyone's mouth. You know the answer before the question, and can at some times detect the truth from the lies. You are a mysterious person, an enigma many people find puzzling. However, they tend to stay away from you, due to the fact that you know what they are thinking. Only a selected few, who can brave your all-knowing mind actually befriend you. You are loyal only to those who actually made the first move to becoming your friend. To them, you share some secrets, but you still remain an enigma.
