HUSTISIYA: NASAAN? (WHERE IS JUSTICE?)

melvin Banggollay

Ang hustisiya , nasaan (Justice, where is it)

sigaw ng karamihan (was the cries of the many)

sa krimeng pinag-isipan (for a crime well planned)

laban sa ibang angkan. (against the other clan)

Marami ang nasawi (Many were killed)

sa hangaring makasarili ( in their ulterior motives)

at upang mapanatili (in order to sustain)

sa puwesto ang lahi. (the authority of their breed)

Pinatay ang mga kababaihan (They killed many women)

na walang kalaban-laban (who were helpless at all)

pagkatapos pagsamantalahan (After they were raped)

ng mga ganid sa laman. (by those thristy for lust)

Ang ganitong pangyayari (this kind of event)

ay bangongot sa ating lahi (is a bad dream for the race)

pagkat sadyang binali-bali (for they had disgracely amputated)

ang pangalan ng salin-lahi. (the name and honor of our race)

Talino at kanilang katinuhan (Intelligence and their consciousness)

ay sadyang may kalituhan (was really out of consciousness)

pagkat lumihis sa tamang daan (for they went astray in the right way)

ng matinong asal at kaisipan. (of proper norms and thinking)

Utang ang buhay ng lahi (We owed the life of our race)

sa Diyos na tunay na nagmamay-ari (To God who truly owned our lives)

at walang sinumang tao't lahi (and no any man or race)

ang kumitil ng walang hunus dili. (could ever take it without haste)

Lagi na bang ganito ang Bayan (Is it always like this in our land)

laging nagdurusa't inapak-apakan (always suffering and being disgraced)

ng mga pulitikong mayayaman (by politicians who were riched)

at pamamahalang may kinikilingan? (and of a government taking their side?)

Ang hustisiya ba natin ay lagi ( Is our justice systrem always )

na lang makunat at binabali (slow and circumvented?)

upang mga mayayamang uri (that the rich kind of citizens)

ay laging lamang sa nakararami?. (always above the poor majority?)

Nananawagan ako sa Bayan (I call every citizen of this land)

na kung sinu ang may kagagawan (that whosoever committed this crime)

Sumoko na't iyong pagbayaran (to surrender and pay such injustices)

upang ang hustisiya'y makamtan. (that real justice will be achieved)

I'm sure it rocks and all but...what language is this?
But truly, I like the format. Makes me wish I understood it to read it.
I wonder if this is why no one has reviewed it yet??

Rena, it's in Filipino.:) Well, there's a lot of Filipinos on this site but just in case they don't get to see it, I shall try to make a review.:)

ah, this is about the Maguindanao massacre. It's terrible and incomprehensibly inhuman. Philippine politics makes me lose hope in the rest of humanity.

I read your Pacquiao poem as well. I see now that the starting letter of each stanza forming a word is really your style. It's a good thing to do and pretty difficult to work with as well since it restrains you but here, I believe you did well. The rhyme scheme surprised me as well. The alternating use of 'an' and the soung 'i' was very restricting but you used it very well.

Also, I think you write much better in Filipino than in English. It seems to be your comfort zone. Now, you may not be able to get many reviews on this since I'm not sure how many people are adept in Tagalog on this site... so I suggest that if you really want this to reach the world in some way and let others read it, translate it to English. Medyo mag-iiba siyempre, mas may impact kung tagalog eh pero kung gusto mong maparating sa mundo, diba?

Now, as to content, what can I say but simply agree with you?
All that I'm after is a life full of laughter, as long as I'm laughing with you.:)

OT: I'm a Filipino :)

I second what KA said. Filipino is your language of expertise.
