They say that home is where the heart is
But my heart is far away
And I can't help but yearn
For the nearby yesterday
I miss the time when home was
But one half hour's drive
And reaching out I could embrace
That which made me feel alive
But now my heart has left me
And I find my home is gone
So I stand here in the shadows
Tears watering uprooted lawn
Yet my heart, it still exists
And some days I feel it beat
In the wind against my face
And the grass beneath my feet
I see a glimpse of its existance
In the eyes, a staring blue
Peering out of all the pictures
I keep so I can look at you
I feel the spectre of its presence
In the places we would haunt
Though their once-overwhelming welcome
Now feels empty, cold, and gaunt
There are pieces of my heart still here
Like sparks that light the night
As the wind swirls them in the shape
Of the face that lights my life

WOW. Just WOW. I really enjoyed reading this. A little bit of spacing wouldn't hurt just to make it easier on the eyes, but aside from that, It's A-OK.

I really liked the fact that you were able to express the feelings of the MC without sacrificing the rhythm or too much of the rhyme.
