Hi, my name's Glacies and I'm very happy I've discovered this website. I love to write and do so every day, even if it's just to note down my ideas.

It may not be New Year, yet, but I've made my resolution: I want to publish the novel I've been working on by 2011 and I hope the advice on this site will help me.

I've been writing for many years now. I have already written a novel (but it still needs working on very, very much, since I was only 12 when I wrote it) and I've even got some of my short stories published. However, this is the first time I'm writing something as long as a novel in English, and as it isn't my mothertounge, I may need some help with grammar, vocabulary, phrases, etc.

Anyway, this site already looks like so much fun, and I hope it'll help me improve my writing. :D

Hi there Glacies! Welcome to YWS. *hands skittles*

I'm sure that you'll love it here! And now I'll just go over the rules.

1) The 3:1 Ratio. Basically it's recommended that you do 3 reviews for every piece of work that you post. Reviews have to be at least three lines long to count, so just make them constructive!

2) Rate your work. If it has "adult scenes", excessive violence or language then it'll need to be rated accordingly. Some people don't like to read certain things so it's considerate if you rate things that you post.

3) No cht spk OR CAPS LOCK. This includes proper grammar, capitilization and apostrophes. Well, YWS is a writing site!

4) Be nice. So no flaming other members and please keep your language in your stories.

5) Have fun! (Not hard to do.)

Ok, now it's question time!

What do you write? What do you read? What's your favourite holiday? Do you dress up for halloween? Tea or coffee? Watched any good films lately? Chocolate or sweets? What music do you listen to? What inspires you to write the most? Are you a cat person or a dog person? D'you love or hate marmite? What is your favourite word? Do you prefer to write by hand or by typing? What can't you live without? Are you looking forward to Christmas?

I think that's enough for the moment! I look forward to seeing you around and I'll review your story at some point!

If you have any questions then feel free to PM me!

*high fives*

~Amy

Heya Glacies! Welcome to the wonderful YWS!

So want some tips?

~Go out into YWS and have fun! First complete the reviews needed, but then go write! There's tons of fun stuff to do, like blog and chat. Writing is awesome, but I find that sometimes the chat and blogging is the needed stimuli for picking up some creative trinkets. Having a little "me time" away from that blank page of paper pleading to be written is great not just for you, but for your story, as well.

~Don't take harsh reviews personally. The reviewer is really only trying to help better your writing skills, not attack you. If this is not the case, though, please PM a moderator.

~This is a tip for your writing: don't be afraid to take risks. You learn new things this way, and with curiosity man has learned great mistakes. Plus it's just plain fun to go a little outside the lines, you know?

On to some more questions!

~What do you dream of, besides publishing a novel?

~Why do you want to publish your novel?

~When is your favorite time to write?

~Why do you write?

~Where do you find inspiration?

Best of luck with your novel! I hope your resolution comes true. :)

If you have a question feel free to PM me.

~Selene

Hey Glacies! Welcome to YWS!
Amy here already said the rules, so I guess we can skip that part, can go straight to the good stuff :D
I'm JustDance, call me JD!
It's good to see you're so much into writing, you're going to do great in Nano next year.
Nano - a contest for members every November where you have a time period of about 30 days to write a 50,000 word novel. You do? You get it published for free :) Awesome, right?
So what is your mother tongue? I love to see other people's cultures!
What kind of writing do you mostly do? I'm into romance and realistic fiction, for both writing and reading.
Do you play any sports? I'm really into them :D
Running, soccer, volleyball, basketball, track & field! You name it? I play it :)
What's your favorite food and candy? Haha, I like pizza and snickers. Incredible..mmm.
Already hungry!
Well PM me for any questions, or if you just want to talk to someone!
-JD

You wrote a novel when you were 12. You have short stories published.
And I haven't even finished one of my stories?!?!?!?!
You are idle-worthy!
