2. First Date
I woke up feeling sluggish and turned to look at the clock. It was 12:30am. I’d just rolled back over, when it finally sunk in. It was 12:30am, it was Saturday! I jumped out the bed. I still had my clothes on from yesterday. I opened my door, and walked across the hall, to my mom’s room. I opened it slightly. She was asleep. Well, I guess that’s a good way to avoid a confrontation. I closed her room door and went downstairs. I can’t believe how hungry I am. I opened the fridge, hoping that this time there would be something in there. There was! She brought home Chinese takeout. It was chicken fried rice, with a side order of orange chicken, my favorite. It made me feel bad to think that I said something to upset her.
I grabbed the food, and put it in the microwave. I leaned against the counter, just looking around my house. We had a really nice house. It had an open floor plan. The front door led into the living room, which was attached to the dining room. The living room walls were Victory Red. I’m not kidding, that’s actually the name of the color we chose. We have brown leather furniture and accents. Our dining room was painted Pixley Falls Green. I’d say it was Olive, but that was the name on the paint can. My mom just had our antique walnut table and buffet set restored. Now it’s absolutely gorgeous. The dining room opens to the kitchen which has an island, and a breakfast nook. The kitchen cabinets are stained a warm chestnut color. The walls were Grand Stand Tan, with a beautiful brown and gold glass back splash. I helped my mom pick it all out. The living room led to a hallway that had a half bathroom and the laundry room. The door at the end of the hallway leads to the basement.
The steps that led upstairs were at the beginning of the hallway and we had three bedrooms and three bathrooms on the second floor. There was a bathroom in my room, a bathroom in the hallway, and my mom had her own bathroom, too. The third bedroom is used as an exercise and storage room. It was supposed to be for another baby, but my mom never got around to that. Sometimes I wished that I had sibling, especially at times like these. I’d have someone else to talk to.
I took the food out the microwave and went to sit on the couch in the living room. I turned on the TV. There was nothing on at twelve in the morning. I flipped through the channels, before giving up on a weight loss infomercial, and started eating my chicken fried rice. My mom and I usually sit on the couch, watch TV, and eat from the carton. I wish she was up.
I finished my food, and threw away the carton. I lounged back on the couch. Infomercials always made me sleepy. I got tired of looking at the screen, so I turned it off and went upstairs. I grabbed some pajamas from my dresser, and went to take a shower. It was supposed to be a quick 15 minute shower, but the hot water just felt too good. I ended up taking a full shower, and washing my hair. I turned off the water, after thirty minutes, and grabbed my toothbrush out the medicine cabinet. The smell of my body wash and shampoo was intoxicating. It was berry splash, my favorite scent.
I finished brushing my teeth and walked back into my room. I threw my clothes in the dirty clothes hamper, in the corner of my room. I loved my room. It was such a reflection of me. Not too messy, not too clean. Ash and I painted it Canary’s Song yellow with a light Bay City blue streak, going around the entire room. My bed linen was light blue, with yellow checkered pillows. I had a yellow and blue rug. Those are my favorite colors. My walls are filled with posters of different bands. I have Paramore, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, Muse, the list goes on.
I went to sit on the floor. I grabbed my book bag, and got out my French book. Mr. Thomas was the most boring language teacher ever. If I didn’t like French so much, I would fall asleep in his class. It was simple, and since I was in French four, I finished it within ten minutes. I closed the book and put it away. Now, I didn’t have any more homework for the rest of the weekend. I glanced at the clock. It was just 1:15am. Time was going so slow.
I got up, and went over to my computer. It was fairly new. Thanks to my job, I could at least pay for the essentials. Like my cell phone bill, gas for my car, and the internet on my computer. I can really stretch a dollar. I turned on the computer, and waited for it to load. When it finally loaded, I went to Facebook.com. No one was online, but I had a friend request.
It was from Jason. His picture was so cute. I thought about denying his request, but I accepted it and went to his page. It was extremely dull. He didn't have any comments on his wall, but to my surprise, he had two thousand friends. I started typing him a message.
Hey Jason,
I know we kind of got off to a rough start yesterday, but I enjoy your company, too. I would still like for you to come and hang with me on my birthday, just as friends.
I looked at the message for five minutes, before I finally decided to send it. Maybe, I shouldn’t have sent him a message. Well, it was too late now. I couldn’t take the anxiety, so I turned off the computer. I got up from the desk, and lay down on the bed. I forced myself to go to sleep.
I woke up, again, and rolled over. I looked at the clock, but this time it said eight thirty am. I was definitely not sleepy, so I jumped right up, and made my bed. I went to my closet, to look for something to wear. I grabbed a pair of jeans and a white polo. I went to the bathroom. I checked myself in the mirror. I looked well rested. I jumped in the shower and threw my clothes on. It took me an hour to flat iron my hair. I finally got finished, and walked back in my room. I slid on my flip flops, and walked out my room, down the stairs.
My mom wasn’t in the kitchen. I looked out the window, and her car was gone. I swear she is avoiding me. I wasn’t hungry, so I grabbed a granola bar. I went back up to my room and grabbed my hamper. It was a good day to do laundry. I walked back down the stairs, and put in one load of laundry.
I’d just started the wash cycle, when Super Massive Black Hole by Muse rang out from my pocket. It was my boss, Mike.
“Hey Mike, what’s up,” I said into the phone. I work at Java Joe. It’s a coffee shop, restaurant and internet cafe mixed. Mike is Joe’s nephew and he’s also the manager. By some chance I am the assistant manager, so when he couldn’t be there I always had to cover for him.
“Melonie, I need you to cover for me. My girlfriend’s mom just came in town, and they want me to go furniture shopping for the apartment,” he groaned. His girlfriend, Sam, has been pressuring for them to move in together for three months. I guess he finally caved.
“I would love to say no, but I guess I have no choice. What time?” I asked.
“Let’s say, around 2:30 this afternoon,” Mike said.
“Great, I’ll be there. Is Jean coming in today? You know I can’t stand him,” I said as I walked out the laundry room and into the living room. I looked at the clock, it was 10am.
“Um, no, I don’t think so. You guys really need to work out your differences,” he said disappointedly. Jean started working last week, and I was the lucky person who had to train him. It was going ok, until he started getting too friendly. He tried to grab my butt, and I wasn’t having that. Let’s just say that he got what was coming to him. Since I usually do the schedule, I make sure not to put us there at the same time.
“Ok Mike, I’ll be there. Have fun furniture shopping. Tell Sam I said hi,” I said.
“Alright Mel, bye,” he responded.
“Bye,” I said before closing my phone.
Ok, now I have to go to work. I liked my job, but I hated the customers we got. It was mostly business men and women, or snotty preppy kids from my school. I flipped open my phone and pressed two. It was Ash’s speed dial number. The phone rang twice before she answered.
“Mel Bell, hey, what’s up?” she said cautiously. I guess she was trying not to upset me with her good mood.
“I’m fine. You sound happy. I take it the rally went well,” I said as I plopped on the couch.
“Yeah, we raised one thousand dollars. I’m so happy. It was funny how so many people came, considering that Nevada has no water, therefore, there can be no whales to save here,” she said laughing. I could hear her little sister scream in the background.
“How’s Kayla? Is she still teething,” I asked. I remember when I went over her house on Wednesday. Kayla was screaming bloody murder, because her gums hurt so much, poor baby.
“Oh, you mean Satan. She’s fine. She’s just tormenting everyone in the house. My dad was lucky that he isn’t here for this,” she said. She must have walked out the room, because the noise stopped.
“I have to go to work at two. Mike just called.”
“Are you serious? When are you going to stop doing favors for him?” she snapped. She hated Mike. It was partially because she likes him. Mike is twenty-two and Ash is eighteen, but he wouldn’t give her the time of day.
“I don’t mind working. It gets me out of the house. Speaking of the house, I think my mom is avoiding me. I fell asleep yesterday, and she didn’t wake me up, and when I got up this morning, she was gone,” I mused.
“I don’t think Pam is avoiding. She’s probably just doing something for your b-day,” she explained. Ash always made me feel better.
“Yeah, you’re probably right. I don’t know what I was thinking,” I agreed. “Hey, what is Matt’s deal? Why was he being a butt at lunch?”
“I really don’t know. When you and Jason left yesterday, he didn’t say anything else. He just sat there with a grumpy look on his face,” she told me. She sounded just as baffled as I did.
“Well I guess I’ll call him. Are you working today?” I asked. She worked at Java Joe too.
“Yeah, I’m scheduled to come in at 12pm.”
“Well, I guess I’ll see you at work. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Ok Mel, bye.”
“Bye Ash.”
After we hung up, I went upstairs to check my Facebook page. I hope that he wrote back. If he didn’t, I’m not going to be the girl that checks her messages every hour to see if he responded. I turned on my computer, and got on the internet. He responded to my message! That was a spirit lifter. He wrote…
Hey Melonie,
I’m glad you wrote me. I definitely will come to your party. I hope you aren’t still mad about yesterday. I’m really sorry. I do like you, a little too much. I think that being friends will be best.
I turned off my computer with a big smile on my face. I don’t know what he means by liking me too much. I got up and decided to clean up my room to kill some time. After I finished cleaning I called Matt. He didn’t answer.
“You’ve reached Matt’s cell. Leave me a message and hope that I call back.” Beep. I hated his voice mail.
“Hey Matt, its Mel. Call me when you get this. I go to work at 2:30pm, so try to call before that or after 8:30pm. Bye.”
I hope that he just didn't hear his phone ring and he just avoiding my calls. Matt always answered. I looked at my phone, it was only 12pm. I was tired of sitting in the house so I got dressed for work and walked out the house, locking the door behind me.
My job is about ten minutes from my house. I drove around to the back of the building where the employees park. I turned off my car and got out. It was a nice day outside. It was about eight-five degrees and it was supposed to be in the upper nineties today. I’m so glad we can wear shorts. Our work shirts are a green polo or a white t-shirt with the Java Joe logo over the right breast, and khaki shorts or green shorts. I was wearing the white shirt with green shorts and I had on my white Nikes.
I walked into the back door, which lead into the employee lounge. Jessica and Lori Anne were sitting in the tattered chairs. They were what we called old coffee. They've worked here for seven years. The funny thing about that is, neither one of them has ever been manager. I think that it’s because they’re always in trouble. You would think that they would have gotten fired by now.
“Mel, how’s it going?” Lori Anne asked. She had a very heavy southern accent. She was sitting with her legs propped up on the table, with a big bag of Cheetos in her lap. Lori Anne was heavy. She has big hips, thighs, breasts, and she isn’t afraid to flaunt it. Lori Anne was wearing the same uniform from when she first started here. It just doesn’t fit the same, though.
“Hey Lori, hey Jess. I’m good, just a little tired. Is Mike in his office?” I asked as I put my things in my locker and made certain I snapped the lock. As much as I wanted to trust people, some just couldn’t be trusted.
“Ur, yeah girl,” Lori Anne said through a mouth full of Cheetos. “He’s in nere.”
“Thanks,” I said walking out the room. The employee lounge was right by Mike’s office.
Mike was tall, very tall. He has a very nice build. I guess he works out. He has dirty blonde hair and green eyes. He is cute, but he's nothing to fuss about. He had his office door open so I just walked in. He was sitting at his computer, and he didn’t notice me coming in, so I knocked on the frame of the door. He looked up and smiled.
“Mel,” he looked at the time on the computer. “You’re here early. I said come in around 2:30pm.” He was always a little flirtatious with me. Ash hated that.
“I know, but it’s just that no one was at my house and I was bored out of my mind. I hope that’s ok,” I said to him.
“No, that’s fine. Have a seat. Is there something you wanted?” he asked gesturing for me to sit. His office was small. It had a desk, a couple of chairs, a filing cabinet, and a mini fridge. He leaned over and opened the fridge. He handed me an Arizona iced tea.
“Thanks. Mike, I wanted to know if you can schedule me off for next Friday,” I asked him. He didn’t look too happy about that, so I added, “If you can’t that’s ok.” He leaned forward in his chair and grabbed my hand. This was an odd gesture.
“Melonie, did you really think that I wasn’t going to let you off for your birthday? Am I that cold?” he asked disappointed. I felt awkward because he was pretty much holding my hand, so I pretended to fix my hair and removed my hand from his.
“Well, you need me here sometimes. I didn’t want to expect to get it off, just because I’m an assistant manager.” I call it AM for short.
“Don’t worry about it. You work every time I ask. You never come in late. You fill in for me... a lot,” he laughed. “You deserve a break. As a matter of fact, you can take off Friday and Saturday.” I wasn’t expecting that. He was smiling at me so I smiled back and stood.
“Thanks Mike. Well, I guess I’ll get to work,” I told him as I walked to the door. I was on my way out when he called my name. I turned around to see that he got up and was sitting on the corner of his desk.
“If you’re not doing anything on Saturday,” he started. “I was wondering if you would like to go to see Linkin Park with me.” This is bad and awkward. I don’t date co-workers. Plus, he had a girlfriend.
“Mike…um… I… I don’t know. What would Sam think? Aren’t you two moving in together? I… I don’t want to wreck anything,” I explained frowning at him. How could he even think that I would help him cheat on Sam? She is a good friend. She isn’t that pretty, but she is sweet and plus it’s the inside that counts.
“I… no, we can just go as friends. I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable,” he said, but he looked disappointed. “I’m sorry. I really do have the tickets, if you want to go.
“Sure, but just as friends,” I said as I hurried up and walked out the door. I didn’t want any more proposals to go anywhere else with him. What was he thinking?
I walked through the door by Mike’s office, which lead to the store room. It was pretty slow today. We get more customers on the weekdays. The people on today’s shift are, Lori Anne, Jessica, Jean, and Ashley. The only people that are working at the moment are Ash and Jean. Ash was at the blender when she saw me walk through the door.
“Oh thank God you’re here. I was going to go crazy. Between the Cheetos sisters and dumb dumb over there, I thought I was going to snap,” she whispered as she poured the blended drink in a cup and added whip cream.
“That is hilarious, but let me tell you something funnier, Mike just asked me out to a Linkin Park concert,” I said as I took the cup from her and handed it to the customer. She stopped everything and turned to look at me.
“Mike? Mike the manager? He asked you out?” she said a little defensive. “What about Sam?”
“I guess they’re having problems. You know she keeps pressuring him to move in with her. I told him no, of course,” I said as I wiped down the counters.
“Well damn. Maybe we can get free tickets out of this,” she said sadly. Ash really likes Mike. I should have thought of that before I told her.
“Yeah I’m sure. Hey, I got a message from Jason on Facebook today.”
“What did he say? I knew he liked you. He was probably just turned off by how Matt acted.”
“He wants to hang out sometime. I’m excited,” I said cheesing really hard.
“Ooo, you two are going to get together, I can feel it. I see it now, wedding bells, babies, it’s going to be so sweet,” she said with an angelic smile on her face.
“Come on goofy. Let’s go clean the tables.” Just as I said that Jean came up behind me.
“I’m going on break, ‘kay,” he said sourly. I really didn’t like him.
“Does anyone beside you or me know that this is a job?” I asked Ash. “People in here act like this is a playground,” I snapped as I grabbed a rag and went to wipe down the tables.
I was almost done wiping the tables when the bell over the front door chimed. I just sent Ash on break, Jean was still on break, and Lori and Jessica were in the lounge. I was bent over so I couldn’t see who came in the door.
“I’m sorry,” I told the customer. “I’ll be with you in a minute. We’re a little short handed today.”
“Don’t worry about it. I have time,” this deep voice said. I wiped the last table and went around the counter. I washed my hands and turned around.
“How can I help,” I said stopping in my tracks when I saw who it was. “Jason, hey, did you know I worked here?” I asked. Of course he didn’t know I worked here.
“No, I just wanted a latte, but now I’m glad I came in,” he responded smiling. His smile was so contagious. I just had to smile back.
“So, what kind of latte do you want?” I asked trying to sound professional.
“What do you recommend?”
“Are you a big coffee drinker?”
“No, not really, but I do like it though,” he confessed smiling. Man, I could get use to his smile.
“Then I would go with iced coffee. It’s simple but not plain.”
“Iced coffee it is,” Jason said. “When do you get off? I wanted to see if you wanted to go to a movie,” he asked while I blended his drink. A movie, that was like a date.
“I don’t get off until 8:30pm. If you want to, we can hang at my house. My mom’s going on a date tonight,” I said hoping that he wouldn’t get the wrong idea about what I said.
“Sure. I would love to hang and watch movies,” he said understanding what I said. I handed him his drink.
“That’ll be three dollars and twenty-five cents.”
“Call me, and I’ll be at your house,” he said writing his number on a napkin. He has the most neat hand writing.
“I’ll do that. I’ll see you later,” I told him as he handed me the napkin and the money. I put the money in the register.
“Make sure you call. I don’t want to be waiting by the phone,” he said as he turned around and walked out the door.
I was so anxious to leave work after that. Ash had to leave because her sister Kayla got a fever. Her mother was an hour away, so she had to take her to the doctor. Jean came back, after a two hour break, and pretty much got back to doing nothing. Lori Anne and Jessica must have left out the back, because when I went to go get my stuff, they were gone. I had to clean up and lock up by myself, so by the time I got to my car it was 9:15pm.
I got in my car and opened my phone. I dialed the number Jason wrote on the napkin. It rang three times before he picked up.
“Hello,” the sexy voice on the phone said.
“Hey, this is Melonie. Is this Jason?” I asked even though I recognized his voice.
“Yeah, it’s me. Are you just getting off?” he asked.
“Yeah, I had to lock up by myself. I’m sorry. Did you still want to hang out or is it too late?”
“No, it’s fine. I thought you were blowing me off. But um, yeah I still want to hang out. What’s your address?”
“It’s 1602 S. Roster Street. It’s a cream house with a blue door.”
“I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.”
“Make it twenty. I haven’t quite left the parking lot yet. I should be home at 9:30pm.” I said as I started my car.
“I’ll be there. See you soon.”
“Bye,” I said as I hung up and quickly drove out the parking lot. I got to my house in a record breaking seven minutes. I got out my car and pretty much ran to the door. I fumbled with the keys, but finally got it open. I slammed the door behind me and started to the stairs when I heard my name being called. It was my mom.
“Mel, where have you been?” she asked concerned. She was in her stay home outfit. She was wearing sweats and a big Tweety t-shirt. This disturbed me. I thought she was going out.
“I was at work!” I said quickly. “I thought you were going out with Jeff.”
“I was, but I decided we needed some mommy daughter time,” she said smiling. Mommy daughter time, what am I six?
“Mom, I’m kind of expecting company,” I told her embarrassed. I couldn’t even bear it if Jason met my mom this fast.
“Company?” she looked confused. “Ash and Matt aren’t company. They’re here so much, they practically live here. I should start charging them half the rent,” she laughed.
“No, it’s not Ash or Matt. Other company,” I said really embarrassed now. My mom just stared at me until she finally got it.
“Oh, you mean guy company,” she said. She whispered the word guy like it was a bad word.
“Yeah, his name is Jason. I invited him, because I thought you were going to be with Jeff,” I said disappointed.
“Well don’t let me being here interrupt your plans. I will stay in my room the entire time.”
“Ok, I have to go get ready. Please don’t ruin this for me.”
“I won’t, go get ready.”
I ran up the stairs, and threw off my work clothes and flew to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I ran back in my room and threw on my favorite blue v-neck shirt and a pair of jeans. I brushed my hair and went to my mom’s room and threw on some lip gloss. Wow, that’s so not like me. Since when do I wear lip gloss? I ran down the stairs. My mom turned around to look at me.
“You look so pretty sweetie,” she said smiling. I waved my hands for her to scoot. She took the hint and walked up the stairs. I pray she stays upstairs.
Just as I was looking at myself for the third time, I heard the door bell. I stepped out the first floor bathroom and took a deep breath. I walked to the door and opened it. Jason was standing there looking so hot. He changed his clothes, too. He was wearing a fitted short sleeve white and gray golf print t-shirt with black skinny leg jeans and black gym shoes. He was smiling and all his pearly whites were showing.
“You look…” Jason started. “You look…” he tried again. “There really isn’t a word for how you look. Beautiful doesn’t even begin to describe you. Exceptional is a better word.”
“Thank you. You don’t look half bad yourself,” I said laughingly. I moved out the way so he could come in.
“Your house is beautiful,” he said. “I noticed that I saw two cars in the driveway. Is your mom here?” he asked. He was very perceptive. I liked that, but not right now.
“Yeah, uh, she didn’t go on her date. Does that make you uncomfortable?” I asked.
“No, of course not, am I going to meet her?” he asked hopeful.
“No!” I said too fast. He looked at me and frowned. “I mean, she’s sleep, maybe another day.” Maybe never.
“Come sit down. Can I get you anything?” I asked him as I lead him to the couch.
“No, I’m fine.”
“Is there anything in particular you want to watch? We have a lot of DVDs. Pick out whatever you want,” I told him as I went to the kitchen to grab some pops. I put some chips in a bowl and walked back to the couch. He picked out a movie and he was forwarding past the previews. I put the drinks and the bowl of chips on the coffee table. I sat back on the couch one person away from him.
“Why don’t you come closer to me?” Jason asked as he patted the couch cushion next to him. I smiled and scooted to him. “Now, that’s much better.”
“Yeah, it really is,” I said blushing.
“You face makes a really pretty color when you blush.”
“What movie did you pick?”
“I chose this one,” he said handing the case to me. It was one of my mom’s old movies. It was about a girl falling in love with a monster. I guess it made sense to watch a scary movie.
“This is what you wanted to see?” I asked.
“Not really. I don’t want to watch a movie,” he said.
Before I could even think of what he meant, he leaned over and kissed me. I didn’t really know what I was doing. I haven’t kissed many boys. I was in good hands, because he knew enough for the both of us. His lips were so soft that I could barely feel them. He parted his mouth slightly. His breath was so sweet. Good thing that I brushed my teeth.
I put my hands around the back of his head and started pressing against his body. He leaned me back and I ended up on the couch with him laying on top me. This was getting really intense. He stopped kissing my lips and started kissing my neck. It was driving me crazy.
My knees were bent and he was lying between my legs. We started kissing again. If kissing was a game, he would be MVP. He started sliding his hand down my left leg. This was getting to be too much. I was thinking about being immoral, but then I realized two things. One, I’ve only known Jason for two days, and two, my mom was just up one flight of stairs. I stopped kissing him, and he froze. He pulled his head back.
“Did I do something?” he asked as he got up sitting back against the couch.
“No, you didn’t do anything. I just don’t want this to go too far. I like you, don’t get me wrong, but I want to wait until I know you more.”
“I’m not going to force you to do anything that you don’t want to do. I want you to trust me. If or when you’re ready, tell me.”
“You’ll be the first to know,” I said laughing. “Do you really want to watch this?” The DVD was on the menu screen.
“No, I want to know more about you. If you don’t mind,” he said smiling. Man that smile could make me melt.
“What do you want to know? I’m an open book,” I said kind of wishing I didn’t.
“What’s your full name?” he asked.
“Melonie Roselle Handler.”
“Where did Roselle come from, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Not at all, my mom told me that was the name of one of the nurses in the hospital where I was born.”
“Are you sure?” he said skeptically.
“Yeah, that’s what she said.
“Ok,” he said disappointedly. “What's your favorite and least favorite thing to do?”
“I like to draw. I think I’m a little good at it. My least favorite…um, that’s a tough one. Oh, I don’t like to sing or talk in front of large crowds of people. ”
“You can you sing?” he asked interested.
“Yeah, but I have serious stage fright. The last time I sang in front of a group of people, I hyperventilated. It wasn’t pretty.”
“What about boys, how many boyfriends have you had?”
Oh crap. I really don’t want to answer this question. Maybe if I change the subject. “Did you leave a girlfriend back in Canada?” I asked.
“Kind of, it’s complicated. We started dating a year ago, but since I moved, I broke it off,” he said saddened.
“Did you love her?” I said really proud at how the conversation had turned.
“I don’t know if it was love. I cared for her, and I like how you redirected the conversation towards me,” he said smiling. I had to admit, he was very perceptive.
“I only had one boyfriend. It was freshmen year, and I was naïve. He didn’t care about me or my feelings. He was my first kiss, though,” I admitted. Guys like that are the reason I threw myself into books and school work.
“What about you Jason. How many girlfriends have you had and be—?”
“Fourteen,” he said cutting me off.
“Fourteen? That’s a lot. Did you kiss them all?” I asked implying something other than kiss.
“Not all, but most,” he said as he looked at me. I had a shocked look on my face. Then I realized that he didn’t know what I meant. “Is that a problem?” he asked.
“No,” I waited so my voice would match the answer. “I was just asking,” I tried to say nonchalantly. I would ask the real question later. He looked at me, and then shook it off.
“What’s your favorite color,” he asked, changing the subject.
“I have two, blue and yellow. I am obsessed. My room is blue and yellow all over. You should really see. It’s a shame.”
“Maybe I should,” he said in a very seductive and sexy voice, which made me a little hot.
“Do you have any favorite things to do?” I asked him.
“I have to go,” he said very hard. I cringed. Did I do something to provoke him?
“Did I do something?” I asked.
“No,” he sighed. “It’s just getting late and my mother will be worried, if I don’t come in soon,” he said sarcastically. I wonder why he was acting like this, but as I found out yesterday, Jason was moody.
“Ok, I don’t want you getting in trouble on my account. Call me tomorrow,” I said as I wrote my number on a piece of paper. I handed it to him and walked him to the door.
“I definitely will,” he said as he opened the front door. I really didn’t want him to leave. He looked like he didn’t either.
“I’ll see you Mel,” he said as he leaned in to give me a kiss. He kissed me lightly and then moved. I wanted more, so I grabbed him and started where we left off on the couch. My hands were tangled in his hair and his hands were on my lower back, when he pulled back.
“I really have to go,” he growled. “I’ll call you tomorrow,” he said as he walked out the door and closed it behind him. Bye Jason, I thought to myself. He was going to be very weird to date. I sighed and turned from the door. I put the bowl of untouched chips and pop in the fridge, turned off the TV, and all the lights. I walked up the stairs to my room and put on my pajamas. I was lying in bed for an hour before I finally fell asleep. I was day dreaming about Jason and me on the beach lying in the sand. I smiled and drifted to sleep.
