Siolfor Online
A journey through a fake world
A virtual world was created by humans, a place where the lost and despairing could forget their real lives and become new beings. Virtual-reality technology was expressed to its finest state: to the point that players were physically absorbed into the game. It was some time after the initiation of the ‘game’ that the horrifying discovery was made: getting out was impossible. The game company threw all their effort into retrieving the lost players, but met with little success. On earth, family and friends sued the company heavily for the crime, but within Siolfor the players were experiencing it differently.
The digital world of Siolfor is breaking up as connection with the real world is lost. From the northern seas, blackness is spreading, destroying the 3D world and shredding it into fragments of binary code small enough to pass through time sphincters. Perhaps the players will soon have to run from this menace, but a 3D world is only so large: perhaps they will be forced into a peninsula and trapped by the growing black, who can tell what time (and our imaginations) will bring?

Registered Members:
These were the few who paid the extra bucks to be included in the Circle of Fire, a guild group devoted to helping their members rise above the other players. For example, discounts are made to members of COF if they buy items in a store run by a member of the said clan. Certain neighborhoods of certain cities are entirely run by COF members, non-COF’s entering such places are earning a quick trip to the soul-bin*.
Hacked Registry Members:
These are the same as the above, barring the fact that they stole an existing membership account or hacked into Siolfor’s servers and planted themselves as members. They cannot be told apart from normal members unless by a high-up COF Elder with Truesight** abilities.
Normal Members:
These are the middle and low classes of Siolfor, middle being the run-of-the-mill player with the average goals, scoring and equipment. The low class –true scum– is made up of pirates, thieves and mages who turned from the path of Truesight.

Soldier: This class has four sub-classes under it as a guild. Those within the guild are mostly registered persons and have authority over certain civilians.
Hunter: A experienced woodsman (or woman) with an excellent connection with nature that none of his guildsmen share. The bow or rifle are his weapons, and sure is his eye. Anyone on the wrong side of a Hunter’s aim knows quite well what the face of Death looks like.
Swordsman: A wielder of any sort of blade, from razor-sharp rapiers and lightening-fast daggers to dangerously heavy greatswords and powerful war axes. Being one following the path of brute force and adventure, the swordsman has (debatably) the most of a heck of a time kicking around in Siolfor, but sometimes the caring hearts of these battle-scarred warriors lack places to dump their burdens.
Mage: A magical character with abilities not found in others. Mages draw their power from focus points or objects (e.g. a Dragon’s Power Pearl or Spirit Focus Coin) and pass their energy of focus into various forms of magic. A fire ball would be one form; perhaps levitation as another. Use your imagination.
Thief: A silent attacker, preferring a sleeping or distant target. A master of the silent bow, the dark dagger and creeping stealth, the thief is the most looked-down upon in all the guild of Soldier, but an important one at that, not even the Swordsman can withstand the quick and noiselessly lethal ways of the thief. The thief is usually not a COF member, but exceptions can be made. In commoners’ legend, the thief can walk across water, change his form to escape detection, launch himself from the sky in the darkest of nights, climb walls using only his palms and various other strange and supernatural actions, most untrue.
Civilian: This class has only three sub-classes under it as a guild. Those within this guild are usually unregistered or former COF members, losing their positions to unruly behavior or other, similar circumstances.
Merchant: A traveling character that makes money through his trade routes. Usually immensely wealthy and with plenty of contacts, the merchant is not one for adventure but there can be exceptions. Deserts, mountain passes and dangerous sea crossings are all-too familiar memories in his mind, having been through more than the average adventurer or traveler.
Grocer: The source of supplies, goods, weaponry and armor in the game. Most sales can be made with NPC’s (Non-playing-characters) within Siolfor, but a few human players have set up shop and contest with their colleagues. Most often a grocer will also tend an inn or bar in one corner of his shop, increasing his chances of meeting up with adventure.
Sailor: The hardiest, most resilient, tough-as-old-ropes character you’d find from one end o’ the briny sea to the other. A few have gone bad and turned to the pirate career, but most are honest (in comparison to pirates) and run trade or passenger routes through the four seas of Siolfor. Having been everywhere a merchant has and faced more mystical dangers than a mage, the sailor makes for –perhaps– the best adventurer.
Tradesman: A blacksmith, a tanner, tailor, cobbler, potter, farmer, miller, carpenter: pretty much a player skilled in one mundane –or not!– craft. These usually sell their products to the grocers or try the selling process themselves. A weakly-suggested adventurer that was actually put here to make the story somewhat more understandable.
