My Chemical Romance

“You like D&D, Audrey Hepburn,(Don’t know what he said), Harry Houdini, and Croquette. You can’t swim, you can’t dance and you don’t know karate. Face it; you’re never going to make it.” The frizzy haired boy said, as he looked down at his friend while they sat on a step outdoors. His friend was dazed, staring into the sky.

“I don’t want to make it. I just want…” (Don’t you wish he had finished that sentence?)

If you ever felt…alone; perhaps being… well, you know that kid you see in school every day? You know the one that is always by himself? Yeah, don’t pretend you haven’t. They are in every school. Perhaps you were that kid. Imagine things from his perspective.

If you ever felt…rejected; Maybe getting food thrown at you as you sit in your cafeteria in school. How would it feel to be that guy that everybody hates? The one that everybody thinks is weird. The one that nobody would notice if he had gone missing.

If you ever felt…confused; Hey, you there. Yeah you! Would you like to be the girl who is completely in love with that guy? Sounds nice? Think again. If you were her, he sends you sweet texts, notes in class, flowers. But, in school and around his friends he doesn’t know you? Still sound nice? Believe me, I’m sure there are plenty of those girls out there.

If you ever felt…lost; Now, I don’t know about you but I have been here before on multiple occasions! You know…that person who always screws up and can’t get her head straight? Has been me. The person who doesn’t know who she is, who her real friends are? Been there, done that!

If you ever felt...anxious; Ah. Nothing like the feeling of a first day at high school, a new job, perhaps meeting someone for the first time who you have heard so much about. Yeah, anxiety!

If you ever felt...wrong. You know you have. Cheated on a test? Cheated on your bf/gf? Ditched a best friend? Stole something? Murdered someone?

If you ever felt...wronged; Ever get slapped in the face? Feels wronged doesn't it? I am not even sure that is a word. But it happens!

If you ever felt…unclean; Being a slut is nothing to be proud of. I will bet that girl who you all think “what a slut!” when you see her probably don't feel too nice about herself. Would you? Honestly?

If you ever felt...angry; Anger, most commenly to do with parents am I right? Well, it is with me. I don't know how you guys are but I hate rules, always have! I am quite hot headed. Does anybody else get mad when they seem to be the only one grounded? Can't be just me!

If you ever felt...ashamed; What do you think when you see that (no offence!) emo chick/dude sitting class. When their sleeve accidentally slips up revealing a long grotesque image of scars. Do you feel sick? But, lets just say you were that person. Somebody askes you what it is, do you lie? Do you feel...ashamed?

If you ever felt...curious; You all get the feeling this guy is gay. But yet, he hasn't come out of the closet yet. So what? Maybe he is just...curious?

If you ever felt...used; That darn boy has put a bet on you behind your back with his friends. Is this that same old feeling that washes over you?

My Chemical Romance.

Forget about the dirty looks, the photographs your boyfriend took. Remember when you broke your foot from jumping out the second floor.I'm Not Okay. I'm not okay. I'm not okay. You wear me out. .. Yeah no teenagers are okay! WE ARE CRAZY!

OK so a reviewer said I should give some credit to the band and music video. So here goes: Credit goes mostly to My Chemical Romance and the music video for I'm Not Okay. This was based off the video, and my idea to explain the fact that modern teenagers have got more psychological issues than 6 years ago. It was just a thought, so thanks everyone for the reviews! They help!

Hi.
I liked how each stanza was a different feeling. And, I see why that may fit with the title, but I don't like that it is also the name of a band. I also don't know how the first stanza fits into all of that.

You wrote this stanza in first person, instead of second.

Don't break in to say "no offence!" Also, don't say "chick/dude", use kid. It flows better.

Feel the romance.

You could end here, rather than listing different types of romance.

If you ever felt like giving up, don't. You have a good base to work with.

This poem seems to have a lot of feelings packed into it. I like the way it is all centered around feeling invisible, at least, that's what I took from it. I really liked this poem a lot, because it really fits peoples lives.

I like this! It was very fun to read. I think the coolest part is how everyone can probably relate to something that you have written up their. I agree with McMouring in the fact that even though each stanza starts out the same they all feel very different. I like how you relate it to the band My Chemical Romance too, and how all teenagers are crazy. It's a logic most don't see but is certainly true. Especially now-a-days. This almost gave me chills when I read it.

Very powerful, very well written. Gold star.
Good job!

Hey there Sakura!

I liked the title, but I was kinda confused. Not that this was confusing or anything, it's just that this doesn't look like a traditional poem i.e stanzas.

I think the emotions are very powerful and they could be strong, concrete even if this poem was a little more structured.

Keep writing,

Well, from a purely form-oriented standpoint, that was not a poem. It was a story. But once you get to reading it, you can see poetic elements in it. No meter or rhyme, but parallelism, at least. Over all, I would say that this is closer to a passage in a book than a poem. A beautiful, well written passage, one could even say that it was poetic, just for the feelings it created in the reader. I say that it is... lovable because of the connections a single person could have with each of the situations.
I think you could eliminate the first and last parts. The first part only makes it seem more book-like. It seemed like the narrator was going on with their story, and a certain series of events had made them want to reflect. The last bit confused the poem. It was a completely different poem in itself. In the middle of the poem, you barely referenced romance at all, except where it told about how being mistreated felt.
Over all, I would say that this poem needs some serious work. Chop a little off the top and bottom, do a little editing for punctuation, and for goodness sakes, get a new title, and you will have a moderately good poem on your hands.
Those who dance are thought insane by those who don't hear the music.
Those who fit well into their world don't generally go about changing it.

Please give credit to the author of some of these lines or this is considered plagiarism. This is basically just you giving random commentary on a My Chemical Romance music video. :]
Also, just for kicks, "croce" should be spelled croquet.C'est le francais. xD
