I looked up as Des came out of the great cement building. He had a bag now.

"What's that for?" I asked. I'd started up shaking again, which was annoying.

"You, and anyone else we don't want to take into the hospital. Get back in the van."

I frowned and climbed back into the vehicle, sitting down in the passenger's seat.

Everyone was safely in hospital or being taken care of which meant finally i had time to really think. Fee was gone. The first person i had ever loved was now just a smouldering pile in the shadow of a van. And i hadn't been able to do a damn thing about it. I fell to my knees and sobbed. Screaming blue murder in the hospital reception.
"Sir. Sir can you hear me?" A nurse was looking down at me holding my arm. "Come with me. Everyone involved in that explosion needs checking over."
"No point ... not injured." I mumbled. Right now i just wanted to break down.
"Maybe not physically but you look like you might be in shock."
I have looked into the eye of the storm and stared it down. I am an adrenaline junky and i know no fear.

I reformed my true body. Controlling Kili hadn't worked at all. Perhaps it had been to obvious. Then again, nobody had seemed to notice. No... I had to try a more... direct... approach.

I disintegrated again and began down the road to the hospital.

I reached the hospital after a considerably long trip.

I floated to the interior and began probing the hallways for emergency care. Of course, it was widely labeled and easy to discover. In a small town such as the one I was in, there isn't a lot of action. They only patients in were the Misfits, so all I had to do was choose.

And I didn't even need to do that. I saw Nick, clearly out cold, and some life-sustaining device or another hooked up to him. What a great opportunity. I entered the device and began looking for a way to alter it...

I was laying on my bed, sobbing uncontrollably. Why did this happen to us? Why did we have to be attacked by Kili? Why, why, why?!

Someone drew back the curtains and began wheeling my bed forward. I brushed a tear off my cheek and looked up.

"Don't worry Kat," Dr. Yamamoto said soothingly. "You'll be in surgery in a second."

A gurney rolled up next to my bed. "Hop on!" the cheerful intern said happily, patting the seat.

I jumped off of my bed and onto the gurney. Just before they wheeled me away, I heard my phone ring loudly on the tray attached to my bed. I grabbed it and checked the ID. It was Des, thankfully.

"Hello?"

"Kat? What's going on down there?" he asked anxiously.

"Well, I only know that I'm off to surgery and Fee's in bad shape- OW!" I cried as the intern veered into the wall.

"Sorry!" he whispered.

"Surgery?"

"Yes," I sighed biting my lip. I heard him exhale sharply. I continued. "It's okay, but do you think you could come by the hospital and wait for me to get out?"

"Sure I-" I couldn't hear the rest of Desmond's response as one of the surgeons took the phone from me.

"Hey!" I screamed. He ignored me.

"She has to go into surgery now, so don't call her. You're welcome to wait outside in the waiting area though. Goodbye, sir."

He stuffed the phone into his pocket as someone jammed a mask on my face. I opened my mouth to scream at him but instead I just breathed in the gas. I instantly felt it make me drowsy. My eyes began to close and my muscles began to relax as I became unconcious....

Nick,

I drowsily open my eyes, trying to fend off the effects of the morphine in my system. Something is tugging on the IV in my arm. Instantly, I'm alert.

"Get out of there, Zack, you little coward," I growl weakly. He materializes, and grins evilly.

"Or you'll what? Kill me? I'd like to see you try," he sneers. I smile.

"Something like that," I summon all of the anger that has flown through my system: at Zack, at Kili, at Carmel...

And then I teleport Zack to the bottom of the Pacific, for just a second. Next moment, he's standing in the Bronx.
And remember...A portkey can be any sort of harmless object...A football...or a dolphin.

"Now listen to me. Were just going to run some normal tests. We'll take some blood and do some reflex work." The nurse spoke calmly, obviously trying to soothe what she mistakenly believed to be a flustered child.
"You can try," i smirked. It would be fun to see her reaction to how i did on those tests.

(I apologize for not being able to post for a long.....time, computer trouble)

Everything was blurry, My chest was in pain, horrible, horrible pain. I wanted to die, nothing would please me more than this. I closed my eyes and then opened them looking around the the hospital room for any Misfit I knew. I finally felt a warm hand on my cheek,
"Hey, you ok?"
It was Daemyn,
"Yeah, but I'm in a lot of pain"
He nodded.
"Doctors say you'll be fine, you just need some rest. I guess listening to Lizzie was a good idea or you probably would have died"
What did Daemyn do? Flashbacks of the burning pain on my chest appeard in my head.I flinched.
"What happened?"
He sighed,
"Well I had to burn your wound, you were losing a lot of blood"
I nodded
"The other Misfits, how are they?"
"Some not so good, Fee looks pretty bad"
I set my head against the pillow and began to cry.
"Ask not what your teenager can do for you, but what you can do for your teenager."

I hate atmospheric pressure.

Thanks to Nick, I should have died immediately. It was to my benefit I was not solid at the time. Now all I had to worry about were my particles, spread out from Europe to Indonesia.

I was having trouble staying conscious. one moment I was in Italy, the next on the Pacific shore. My scrambled mind couldn't take it. I blacked out.

After several attempts the nurse gave up trying to take blood.
"We'll try again later," she promised. I look down at the broken needles and tried not to laugh.
"Now this may hurt a little, but we need to know if there is any nerve damage." She removed a rubber mallet from the table and told me to sit with a foot dangling over the edge. The first time she struck lightly and nothing happened. She repositioned her hammer and tried again. Again nothing. Finally i felt sorry for her and when she swung, gave a sharp kick, launching a table across the room. The nurse looked at me as if i were some kind of monster.
"That will be all for now. Your friends are down the hall."
Friends. Not friends. Family. FEE! I rushed out of the room and began searching the rooms. Finally i found her, crying, face down in a pillow.
"Fee," i whispered placing a calming hand on her back. "Fee, i'm here. Talk to me. Please."

A faint flare of life. I didn't understand what was going on. I tried to open my eyes, but I didn't seem to have eyes.

More darkness. But finally, I awaken.

I sit up in what appears to be the burning wreckage of a campsite. I have no idea who I am or what I'm doing. I get up and wander around.

Viper's unharmed, right?

Maybe he could head back to the campsite and encounter Zack. *shrugs*

((Not entirely, but he's not too bad off, and he's not in the hospital due to his appearance.))

Viper

As I sat in the van, waiting for the others to get out of the hospital, I began to get warm and comfortable again. I wasn't hurt that badly, really; just a little gash in my shoulder. And someone really needed to go back to camp and salvage what they could of our possessions.

Someone had cast aside a blanket in the van, and it had stopped raining. That would probably keep me safe for a little while at least. I wrapped it around my shoulders and took off, scrawling a short note explaining where I'd gone.

Before I'd even had the chance to start scrounging, however, I sensed a presence. Its heat and its smell hit me; my tongue flicked in and out as my eyes narrowed. I readied myself to strike. "Who's there?"

"Who's there?"

"I was hoping you might know that," I replied, stepping out from behind the wreckage.

The other guy immediately stiffened. He got into a defensive position and said, "Nice try, Zack. You can float away, now."

I was confused by this. Float away? That didn't seem right. And why was this guy so hostile?

"Look, I have no idea what the heck your saying, but I don't have time for riddles. I have no idea how I got here and need some help jogging my memory. You can help, or you could kindly let me pass.

The guy didn't let up at all. What was his problem?

Nick,

After the surgery, I feel loads better, surprisingly. Hoping no one will notice, I teleport to the locations of all of my friends, just to check. Fee looks better, but still bad. Daemyn and Lurie are hugging each other, crying. Kat is asleep, with Des dutifully sitting next to her. I lightly touch Des on the shoulder. He starts.

"Oh, it's just you, Nick," he says glumly. I nod, taking a chair next to him.

"Yeah. How's she doing?" I ask, apprehensive. Des sighs.

"The doctors SAY she's better, but she hasn't woke up since she came out of surgery,"

"She'll pull through, Des. You know she will. And, just for the record..." I tail off.

"Yeah?"

"You two make a good couple," I smile sadly, and teleport back to the ruins of our camp, only to be confronted of the sight of Zack (looking very confused) and Viper standing off.
