Hi, YWS, I'm Avery.

I'm fifteen, a sophomore, and from Utah. :) I'm currently working on an urban fantasy novel, and I've got about 25,000 words so far. I like milkshakes and lava lamps and roller skating. Oh, and virtual online writing friends, so talk to me. :smt003
Dream of me.

Hey there, Avery! Welcome to YWS! *hands cookie*

You can call me Amy, Aqua or AM. Your choice.

So, we have a pretty cool site going on here, don't we. But, to keep it at it's current rate of awesome I'm going to have to give you the rules.

1) The 3:1 ratio. You have to do three reviews for every piece of work you post on here. ( that includes single chapters ). It might go up to 4:1 in November but that's being decided on soon.

2) You must remember that this is a writing site; we like everything to be all in order grammar wise, to be capitalized and definately no CAPS LOCK or cht spk. Ever.

3) Keep the swearing inside your stories. No flaming, being rude or swearing around the forums and in the chat room.

And now ... the YWS rainbow!

Black: Ordinary members. No less important however, all extremely awesome!
Blue/turquoise: Greeters *points at name*. We... greet new members and help them round the site!
Pretty Purple: Instructors. The cream of the crop. The best reviewers YWS can chuck at you.
Light and Dark Green: Junior mods and Moderators. JMs have control over certain forums, Mods have control over the whole thing.
Distinguished Members: Retired Mods.
Admin: The almighty. The Gods. The ones who make YWS what it is.

And some tips for you!
Check out the buddy system. It is under this area (the welcome forum) so just PM one of the members on there and they'll look after you for a month!
Go to the chat! It's on the homepage and it's a good way to meet members.

And now ... questions!
What's your favourite book? Author? Genre? Describe the book you're writing right now. Doig NaNoWriMo? Favourite thing to eat/drink? The best holiday destination? Dogs, cats or rabbits? Favourite colour? Spots or stripes? Tell us about your music taste!

And anything else you can think of!

See you around!
~Amy

Hello Avery, and welcome to the wonderful world of YWS!

Wow, that's amazing! Your WC (word count) I mean. I love seeing dedicated writers, because they are such an inspiration to the rest of us. So keep it up! :)

More tips and rules?

~YWS is big, right? Don't be intimidated, because the people here are friendly and willing to help. If you have any questions or concerns don't be afraid to ask someone about it.

~Be nice while reviewing. Now I'm not saying don't shred it... but just be nice about it. :) Point out the good with the bad, help the author, and your reviews will be great.

~Now not all people here are as nice as I'm sure you'll be with critiquing work. Don't take criticism to heart because I think they're truly trying to better your writing. If you see someone being straight-out mean, please PM a Mod.

Here are some more questions!

~Coke or Pepsi?

~Do you like writing on computers or in notebooks?

~What's your writing pet-peeve?

~Are you comma-happy? (It's okay if you are because I know I am! :))

If you have a question or need a friend, feel free to PM me.

Hey Avery, welcome to YWS! :D

Have you seen the Groups yet? If not they're worth checking out. There are about a million so you're bound to find some that you want to join. Don't hesitate in doing so! Everyone is really friendly here and it's a great way to make some fast friends.
I would recommend checking out the 'The Novelists' because not only can you get some good advice as you're writing your story but you can post your word count as you go and get encouragement as you go that way.

Since Aqua and Selene covered all the important stuff, I'm just going to skip right to the really hard questions. Are you ready?
Who is your favorite author? If you could hang out with one band/singer for 24 hours, who would you hang out with? If you were a shoe, what kind of shoe would you be and why? What's your baked good of choice? If you were a marine biologist, what animal would you study and why?

I hope you have a great time here and if you have any questions or need anything at all, feel free to PM me! :D

Oh, oh, milk shakes rock! And rollerskating! And laaaava lamps! I had one small lava lamp on my bedroom but my little sister had to go and break it. Argh.

Anyway, hi! *waves* I'm Kat! Since all the important stuff has been pointed out, I'll just babble on and on and on...

...

Apparently I have nothing to babble about xD Actually, I'm a Greeter, as you can see by my blue name, and a mentor, over at the Buddy System. You can check it out! I'd be glad to mentor you, but I already have two students and my hands full ^.^ But everyone else rocks!

Now, questions!
1- What do you like to eat for breakfast? I usually eat cereals with milk.
2- Pizza or french fries? I really can't decide over this one.
3- Cookies or muffins? (Warning: YWS people are craaazy over cookies, and no, you can't have one :P)

So, have a good time around YWS, and feel free to PM me whenever you need to!

Piglet: How do you spell love?
Pooh: You don't spell it. You feel it.

Bahaha, you guys are the greatest. :D And um, to answer your questions.... ;)

-Favorite book: That's mega tough. Can I have two? Or seven? ... The Book Thief, The Mortal -Instruments tril, How I Live Now, Twilight/New Moon (okay, I'm sort of a geek, much as I hate to admit it), Tithe, The Boy Book (ha ha ha), and The Truth About Forever.
-Author: Cassandra Clare, Sarah Dessen, Milan Kundera <3, Markus Zusak, E. Lockhart.
-Genre: Urban fantasy, romance. I'll admit it, I like chick-lit. Lame? Yeah.
-Describe the book you're writing right now: It's an urban fantasy (a story set in modern time/world, in which fantasy themes arise) about a (human) girl that gets caught between a world of angels and demons that enroll in her high school.
-Doing NaNoWriMo: Heck yes.
-Favourite thing to eat/drink: Sweet potato fries and Chinese to eat, hot chocolate to drink.
-The best holiday destination: San Francisco, CA or Soho, NY.
-Dogs, cats or rabbits: Dogs, although I totally respect the grace and confidence of being a cat.
-Favourite colour: It changes a lot, or remains a vague cluster of favorites. Usually it's one or more of purple, gold, silver, cream, black, blue, and yellow.
-Spots or stripes? Cheetah print. :D
-Music taste: I'm a music junkie, although my taste is sort of off beat. I love techno, indie, and alternative, bands no one has ever heard of. My favorite bands are Daft Punk, Panic! At the Disco, The Postal Service, The Bird & The Bee, Imogen Heap, Death Cab for Cutie, Hellogoodybe, Foxy Shazam, Justice, and MGMT. Whoa. Too much information. :D
-Coke or Pepsi: Coke. (Vanilla Coke, to be exact)
-Computers or notebooks? Computers, yesssss.
-Writing pet-peeve? Not enough description and detail, making it so.... blah...
-Are you comma-happy? Definitely. :)
-If you could hang out with one band/singer for 24 hours, who would it be? Panic at the Disco. Brendon Urie is my soul mate, for one thing, plus they're a brill band.
-If you were a shoe, what kind of shoe would you be and why? Either a Converse high-top or a ballet shoe. (Wow, talk about contradicting shoes, yeah?) I'd be a high-top because they're rock star shoes, kind of sad and classic, yet beloved and comfortable. Or a ballet shoe because they're timeless and graceful, alone and hushed, and they do what they want.
-What's your baked good of choice? Chocolate-Peanut Butter No-Bake cookies. Duh.
-If you were a marine biologist, what animal would you study and why? Sea horses. They're so small and sad and silent, lovely and dreamy there among their seaweed homes.
-What do you like to eat for breakfast? I like organic cereal (that tastes like sugar cereal no doubt!) and Cliff Kids bars, ha ha.
-Pizza or french fries? Whoa. Both. And chicken nuggets.
-Cookies or muffins? Cookies for sure. Unless there are raisins in them. :P Blegh.

That was... interesting. You just learned a lot of random info about me that I bet you'll use on a day to day basis in regular conversation. You're welcome! (ha ha, joking) Thanks, love you.

<3,
Avery
