"We need to get him to a hospital." Sola said feeling like she was going to pass out.

"You too." Her dad said as he started to pick her up.

"I can walk, he can't." She said softly. Her brother ran over.

"Pick her up, we need to get htem to the hospital." Her dad said getting Aiden.

Aiden groaned. It hurt so bad. The pain was searing. He couldn't even think straight. He started blacking out and seeing spots.

Aiden's eyes fluttered open slowly. Every part of him ached. He had a splitting headache on top of that. He saw his sister sitting besides his bed. Tears were dripping out of the corner of her eyes. Aiden reached up and stroked her cheek. He wondered where Sola was. He was worried about her.

"Sola?" he croaked.

"She's okay. She had some pieces of glass taking out of her. Besides that, she's doing okay. What about you? You look horrible! Oh gosh!" Then Lia was sobbing.

Aiden felt horrible, there was nothing he could do to make her feel better or reassure her. He wanted to, desperately. He also felt bad for putting Sola in this situation in the first place. Her dad was going to murder him for doing that to her. He felt like everything was his fault.

Just then, in walked Sola, her brother, and her dad. He looked up at them, wondering what they would say or do. He groaned to himself. He felt horrible.

Sola leaned against her dad as the pain killers made her tired. She looked at Aiden whose face had gone pale.

"How are you doing?" Her dad asked. Aiden looked at him, a tad surprised.

"I'm alive." He replied. "I'm sorry, it's my fault...."

"No it's no ones fault. Sola shouldn't have run ahead, but I know why she did. After you get out I need you to make a statement. I already had two deputies put your father in jail." Her dad replied.

**Bye**

Aiden sighed and nodded. He felt like everything hurt. " I'm really sorry for dragging you into this sir. I've really appriciated all you've done for me and my sis. I was worried about her and knew she couldn't stay home alone. I didn't mean for him to take your daughter too." Aiden shook his head to clear it and wince. He couldn't even think straight. How bad was he? Surely he wasn't that beat up...or was he? Was he really that bad? He winced again.

"No need to apologize. While you're here we've had Lia move into the main house so she wasn't alone. Their keeping Sola for another day so she is staying in Sola's room." Her dad replied. "Just rest and get better. Once they release you you'll come back and stay in the guest room til you get all the way better, then you can move back to the apartment."

"But you need to rest." Sola said. "You lost alot of blood." She replied touching his hand softly.

Aiden marvelled at the smootheness of her skin. It was cold compared to his. Without thinking, he drew it gently to his mouth and kissed it slowly, sweetly, lovingly. He didn't want to let go. He felt her slide it away from his lips and came back to reality. He realized he had done this in front of her dad. Did he just ruin his chances with her? Was her dad mad? He couldn't tell. He swallowed and waited to see what would happen.

"Get some rest." She heard her dad say. He was doing well keeping himself in check. He put hsi arm on Sola's shoulder pulling her from the room. Lia followed slower.

Aiden watched them go reluctantly. But there wasn't much he could do about it. So he closed his eyes and went straight to sleep.

The weeks passed aggonizingly slow. He hated being cooped up and wanted to be able to be free. He needed fresh air. He felt like a caged animal. He sighed. Lia was a constant visitor. She would ramble on and on about school and how wonderful it was. Then she mentioned a boy's name and how they had a date last Saturday and he had tried to go further...That's as far as she got in her story when Aiden exploded.

"HE WHAT?!?!"

"It's okay, we didn't do anything. Just kissed and stuff. He reminds me of you." she giggled.

Aiden growled. "I don't want you seeing him!"

"But..."

"No but's!!! If he's anything like me when I was his age, I want him on the other side of the earth, far away from you!"

Lia started crying. "You don't even know him!"

"Yeah, but I know guys. Stay away from him, you hear?"

She ran from the room crying as Sola entered.

"What happened?"

"Stupid guys. Why does she have to grow up?"

"Because she is human. Why did any of us have to grow up? That's part of life, you need to let her live it. And the guy she is dating isn't horrible, he just needs to grow into his shoes." She smiled. "He doesn't have guts enough to do anything bad anyway and long as she holds strong to her standards she'll be fine."

"I still don't like it." He growled.

"I can talk her into bringing him by here if you must meet him." She smiled.

"I'd rather that, but then again I don't want him to think I'm weak cause I'm in the hospital." He replied.

"Your not a weak." She replied wtih a smile. "Your tough as all get out."

Aiden laughed. "Thanks Sola. One things for sure, if some little punk hurts my sister, I'm punching him out flat."

Sola laughed. Aiden patted the bed and Sola went and sat down, but made sure not to touch him in any way so as not hurt him any more.

"What about us Sola? Where does all this mess leave us?" He asked taking her hand gently. She seemed to hesitate, so he proceeded. "I love you. I want to court you. Please, Sola? I'll ask your father for permission first, of course, but I want your answer first: Miss Sola, will you please go steady with me?"

Sola chewed the inside of her lip. "Talk to my dad first, once you have his answer you'll get mine." She replied as she looked at him.

Aiden nodded. "Will you ask him to come see me?" He asked. He was getting nervous now. She nodded and left with his sister. An hour later, her dad strolled in.

"Sola said you wanted to see me?"

"Yes sir. I wanted to uh..." Aiden cleared his throat. "Sir, I love your daughter with all my heart. I have for a while now. I want your permission to court her. I know your really protective of her, and you just want what's best for her...but I do love her sir. And it wouldn't be dating...it would be courting. So sir, may I please court your daughter?" He held his breath. This had to be the most scariest moment of his life.

Sola's father crossed his arms and looked at Aiden. "You have proven that you aren't incompetent, and that you will protect her if needed. But I don't know if I want her dating."

"Courting." Aiden said.

"Courting implies marriage, and I'm not ready to accept that." Her dad replied firmly. "IF anything you will be dating. For that, you have my permission, it is the same thing."
