This is the first part of a long poem that I've been working on all day, dedicated to a very special someone that I haven't been able to take my mind off of for the past few weeks. This is my cathartic way of pushing these feelings off of my chest since we live in different states, and I can't see her yet.

NIGHT
Gleaming, the moonlight a blanket
it drapes over you like a dress.
Can’t take my eyes away; you smile,
lips curved, so tempting to touch,
practically kissing me all the way
from the other side of the room.
God give me patience, grant me
one last chance to get it straight
and figure out what exactly I’m
doing. This heart is smeared black,
and I am loathsome in all ways.
She stands there waiting,
why do I leave her there alone?
She is standing in the light,
why do I shrink away from it?
Call me dead, label me with
a bloody tag, name in blue ink.
It would look absolutely terrible
on that white dress of yours, darling.
So don’t come close, leave me here,
I will hang low, watch as you dance
through the life you were given,
laugh loud and with delight,
and never look back at me.
I am contagious, on fire,
longing for you has never
soothed me over
and put the flames out entirely.

DAY
Wake up, what the hell
did I do to myself last night?
Empty space beside me here, shaped
just like you, but you’ve vanished.
Odd. Must be work time for you,
and I have slept in again.
Typical of me, to miss out, and
find you gone every single time.
This absence rings my bell,
catharsis knocks me over, and I
know I have to sink deep this time,
to escape any chance of giving up.
You have always touched me,
in my time of need; now I shall
not only touch you, but cradle you
as well as carry you across the room,
right back to the governing light,
away from my small little corner.
This way, we can dance, as one spirit,
and I can be a free man for once.
I await at the door eagerly, a dog
couldn’t beat me in anticipating
your return. Come home quickly,
for I am thirsting hard.

Haha! This is me, 100%. That's hilarious, but at the same time not so. Back to the poem. (duh)

I really like this poem. It's nice to read something that I can relate to. I particularly like the Night part. It's very dramatic and, well... dark! I feel like this is something I could have said, almost as is I'm saying it as I read it. That is a powerful thing to me, to be able to relate so completely to a work. Keep it up! I'll watch for more! :D

i love this poem. very very well written. every line made perfect sense to me and was a little sad but clearly from the heart. the feeling of wanting something you can't have-- been there so many times. i really have nothing bad to say about it. best i've read all day. i will most definitely be looking into your other works. Also the comment before this...hahahahaha i suppose she hasn't.

Nope, not even an autograph. *sighs, stares out window, hoping one day she will "come back"*

Hit her with a brick and throw a sack over her head. 60% of the time, it works every time.

Makes me think. A little. Its kinda funny at the beginning of day, but more good. I think I like NIGHT more. Keep doing what your doing. Oh yeah, read it to the person. And Webcams are good for long distance lol ;0
