enjoy and please crit
I wonder where tose Bandits be off to. Bad idea it was to camp next to ta road. Oagle fondled the runic script engraved in the blade of his double-bladed war ax of power. He looked into the fire. The red ashes illuminated the dark.
The dwarf stood up from boredom and started to swing his ax in wild figure-eights. His blade cut through the air like a swift wind. Let em come. Lt em come an see me axe in action. I bet tehd be impressed.
I bet I would, said a voice from behind the prince of Járl
Who be tear? Oagle said spinning in circles like a surrounded animal. Oagle he heard the whoosh of an arrow as it imbedded itself into his right soldier. The dwarf screamed with pain as the arrow shot through his chain mail.
The dwarfs screamed awakened the other heirs of mastery. The elf rose and fitted a golden fletched arrow to his Triddian yew bow in one swift motion.
Calm yourself wood elf, a hardy voice said with a fitted bow facing the elf’s throat, or you’ll end up with a broken soul.
Amin lava, the elf said. Who be you that can sneak upon an elf.
The held back a laugh, I’d be Lars korinsen.
I will remember that name, the elf said, never looking into the Breton’s eyes.
Anotin and Withomi sat on their sleeping mats with iron blades to their necks. A man cloaked in green stepped into the firelight. His face was shielded by a blanket of shadow.
Withomi! The man shouted with surprise, I’m truly stunned to see you on this part of the Coble road.
What do you want! Withomi spat pushing the sword away from his neck, you banished leper!
Harsh words my dear friend, harsh words for someone I’ve known for so long.
You are nothing but one who constantly, commits treason.
Treason, Aroland’s leper laughed. Treason to what, Aroland? You are mistaken. Aroland is no more than an insignificant piece of land waiting to be raped of its people and resources.
You are wrong! Anotin said. He threw his arm in anger at the man standing in front of him, an orange mist sprang from the princes hands. The mist collided with the Arrorian and he flew backwards in summersaults. Argoal is still the king of Aroland, no matter what Aden says. With Argoal king there will always be hope
The leper of Aroland stood dumbstruck at what he had just observed. You are a man of Aroland, no. It can’t be. Why do you teach this prince, Withomi? Now, that is treason. By teaching him you are condoning him to a mages life. You are sentencing him to death.
Now who told you that? Withomi said quickly glancing at Anotin.
A wise king, and this was before he ran away from his country for his own survival. Anotin is ready for it, even Argoal says so. The time has come. He even says you are a nuisance to our family, a blockade keeping the heir from taking his throne.
Ready for what? Anotin asked
Not now Anotin, my young apprentice. Withomi said. Then faced the leper. He is not ready, even if Argoal says he is. My apprentice does not have enough training, in magic and ruling.
That is the whole problem old mage, he is being trained by a mage. Argoal has had enough with you! He only wants his son back.
Anotin shouted, I don’t care about Argoal, is only a person who birthed! He is not a father by choice or wanting! Withomi is my father! You can tell Argoal that I want nothing with him. You can take my throne, for I don’t care!
You no that’s impossible, never can I take the throne…
Than the throne of Aroland is lost! And with that, the prince of Aroland stormed out into shadow and darkness.
Anotin! The leper yelled a chorus with the mage, Anotin!
You have failed me! The leper yelled flinging his arms in disgust. I have failed Argoal. What is to be done Withomi?
I am unsure, Withomi said shaking his head. Why have you tracked me down?
I have a message. A message from a Falon, Sasnoth was his name I do believe.
Oagle roared. Hic ax pierced the shin of the guard watching over him, What did you do to my dear friend Sasnoth!
Instead of waiting for an answer the mage charged the leper of Aroland.
You’re making a mistake lord dwarf.
No! No laddy, Oagle shouted as he performed his crazy-eights. You’d be ta one makin ta mistake.
Aroland’s leper ducked under the double bladed war ax. He swung for the back neck of the dwarf. The flat of the sword blade collided with its target. The dwarf fell on his stomach in a bloodless heap.
I’ve come across some interesting things since my exile. Meditation is quite an effective practice when studying on dying in glory.
The mage laughed. Now continue, what of the message?
Sasnoth did not tell much before his conscious gave way to our green fletched arrows.
Why would you shoot down a Falon? They have long been messengers of the royal families. Withomi said with a face of disgust.
We did not know his face from the height in which he was flying. I am sorry. Trust is hard to obtain in the world at such times. Withomi nodded his head in agreement. For all that we could know the dark lord himself could’ve been controlling him.
True, and for once I see your reasoning. Dangerous times these are.
My last words to be are to avoid going into Islengrad, that is all.
Withomi turned his head towards the man cloaked in green, but he was no longer standing next to him. The mage of diamonds looked out into the shadow and heard the neigh of a horse. The followers of Aroland’s leper walked into the shadow behind their leader without a sound.
Goodbye elf, Lars korinsen said, fair winds, and may your paths be green and the breeze on your back.
Namarie Lars, and the same to you Aa' menle nauva calen ar' ta hwesta e' ale'quenle.
Many hours had gone by when Anotin retuned.
Are you to fallow the instructions given by the cloaked leper?
No, Withomi said sternly, I believe that the council is no, longer being held in the house of Eden. But I must go a talk to someone; I mean to persuade him to help my cause.
Our cause, Cicerin corrected. Then we shall go in the morning. You will do as you please. The dwarf and I will head off to the markets and shop for necessities need for the long road ahead.
A very good idea Cicerin, I think you may someday make an excellent king.
By the first sign of the morning rays over the horizon the elf, mage, and man had awoken to depart. The mage stared northward, Opposite of the rising sun.
It’s so quiet, Anotin said standing next to the mage, smoking a pipe of weed.
I fear that Islengrad will soon face the same fate as fort Knöte. I fear that we may be walking into another battle. Feel free to traverse ahead of me to Unine, where the council to be held I think.
Cicerin led the fussing Grolmn towards the dwarf was still sleeping.
We go now, Cicerin said kicked the dwarf in the gut.
Oagle moaned then turned over to his back. Looking up into the white eyes of the elf, Oagle said, al righ. I feel like I just feasted at a Frey blot. Is tear any more of ta rum left. I could use a swagger, or a magnum.
I really do hate dwarves, Cicerin said leaving the dwarf lying on the ground.
The elf walked up to his stag and said a few words in Quenya. Then he did a mid-air summersault onto the stag.
Withomi rode on his Ormr his gray hair waved freely in the autumn breeze. Then he fallowed the road northward.
And the breeze will be on our backs. Cicerin said as he fallowed his companions, the heirs of mastery.
The looming pinnacles of the house of Eden appeared in the horizon and slowly loomed to a larger size as they became closer.
Alas! Withomi said gesturing at the pinnacles with an outward arm and an open palm, we have finally reached the city of Islengrad, named after the great Islgad and husband of Eden of the Aroland royal bloodline.
Anotin reigned his horse to a halt, look!
He was pointing at the guard beacons that were several leagues ahead of them. The tall wooden structures were black am smoky. Some lay toppled over in a mess of ash. Morg scouts pointed at the mage, dwarf, elf and man. One took out a black horn and blew a shrieking noise that vibrated on the many hills. Over on hill a hoard of Morgs scouts came charging with an impressive amount of speed.
It looks to be fifteen, Anotin said unsheathing his ruby hilted sword of power.
I too see fifteen, Withomi said. A battle we must face yet again. These are dangerous times in which we live in.
Let em come, Oagle the dwarf said laughing, it be long since me ax was blooded.
You will receive your fair share dwarf, Cicerin said rolling his eyes at the dwarf’s demeanor on war and bloodshed.
