The Gunslingers

I realize this will be the second one I've created in a week, but I cant pass this idea up. Inspired by the anime, the Gunslinger Girls. In fact this is pretty much that setting, but changed to accommodate male characters. I realize this will parallel with assassins, so if anyone feels this may steel people, tell me and I will lock it

The Setting~~

Its 20011 and World War three is brewing on the horizon, at the one time when no one can afford it. Oil prices are rising as the Middle East's supplies are running dry. Russia has taken over the old satellite countries once more and is now the Second Soviet States. Their new leader is amassing forces on the border with Europe, supposedly for an invasion. In Africa and South America there is growing rebel movement and no government seems to be safe. All over the world tensions are rising and war doesn't seem to be far away.

To prevent the war NATO created the Social Welfare Agency, located in Italy. To the public it was a health organization, dedicated to giving teens who had suffered horrible accidents the chance to live again. In reality it was a military organization specializing in counter intelligence and counter terrorism. It is composed of two independent branches: Public Safety, its surveillance and intelligence-gathering division, and Special Ops, the anti-terrorist division. Special Ops is itself divided into Sections 1 and 2, the former is a CIA type organization that works politically, the latter of which employs young men and women (age 16-20) fitted with cybernetic implants as agents.

The implants, which consist of synthesized muscles and carbon fiber frames, result in heightened strength and reflexes as well as high resilience to damage and pain. Each teen is paired with a male trainer, or "handler", and together they are referred to as a fratello–the Italian term for "brother". The handler is responsible for the training, welfare and field performance of his charge, and is free to use whatever methods he considers suitable. While these methods vary according to the handler, a common part of each teen regimen is brainwashing called "conditioning", which produces a deadly assassin with unquestioning loyalty to their handler.

Each fratello exhibits a unique dynamic. Most of the handlers have police or military backgrounds and were recruited directly into Section 2. Most also chose their own cyborgs from a list of candidates, though some appear to have been assigned a cyborg.

The Social Welfare Agency sends its assassins all over the world in an effort to abort the war in a not so legal way. But their agents are not as perfect as they appear. The assassins are about to embark on their most dangerous mission yet, but some of them are having doubts. Will you stay with the agency? Or will you fight for your freedom, and kill whoever gets in your way?

Name: Helena Faye Henderson (goes by faye)

Age: 18

Time with the Agency: 3 years, she was trained from birth

Gender: Female

Appearance(if a pic, try to use a real person): Long cascading brown hair and large green eyes. Her skin is slightly tan but more light than dark. She is also kind of short.

Personality: strange for a born to raise killer. She has fun while doing it and laughs alot, she is a very good liar but can't help it when her feeling overflow.

History: her mother was a big person in the agency and died during child birth, she has no clue who her father is. She was raised by the trainer, and one of her mother's closest friends Red.

Preferred Weapon/Method: She likes everything but she loves to make things look like an an accident. She loves explosions and isn't so great at hand to hand combat.

Other: Up for love.

Name: Desmond Miles

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Appearance(if a pic, try to use a real person): Average height and built small, but with obvious muscle. He has thick, messy black hair that is just long enough so that it covers his eyes unless he pushes it back (something he does often). He has pretty pale skin from spending all of his training at night, and being asleep during the better part of the day.

Personality: Desmond is very collected on the outside, but on the inside, he is a tumult of emotional confusion. When he was adopted into the Agency, the brainwashing program was still in development, and it did not work completely. He constantly has doubts about what he is doing, but at the same time he enjoys killing. Every emotion he feels conflicts with another, and he isn't sure any more what he really feels. But no one else knows this, not even his handler. He secretly wants to leave the Agency, but he does not know what he would do to survive, he has no history. One of the biggest reasons he wants out is because he wants to learn how to love, something he forgot when he was brainwashed.

History: Desmond was born in England, however he moved to Moscow at a young age. When he was 11 he was hit by a bus. Both of his legs, his spine, and five ribs were broken. There was no chance he would ever walk again. The Agency took him in and gave him a new, reinforced bone structure, and rebuilt the muscles in his legs.

Preferred Weapon/Method: He prefers to use either an XM8 compact assault rifle or a FN SCAR, silenced. For a pistol he prefers his customized Walther P99 with a wooden handle, but will use anything. He has his pistol on him at all times. He is very diverse in his methods, but prefers to be straightforward and just get the job done.

Other: His handler's name is Jonas. He is tall with close cropped blond hair. He keeps a very strict training regiment, but is more of a brother to Desmond than anything else. Also, Desmond is very, very observant and will rarely miss anything. He can also see perfectly in the dark.

Name: Skylar Night (Sky)

Age: 17 almost 18

Time with the Agency: 5 years

Gender: Female

Appearance: She is tougher then she looks which makes her a great assassin. She can easily make people believe she is innocent and sweet.

Personality: She loves to make people believe she is innocent, niave, and sweet, but in reality she is none of those things. When she isn't having to put a face on for a job she is a very cold person the outside. She doesn't talk to anyone in the agency nicely other then her handler.

History: When she was younger her parents were both druggies and she was with them til she was six. They were both killed in a drive by and she was put into foster care where her life there wasn't much better. By the time she was tweleve she had run away and was living on her own defending herself. She was walking down the street one day when she was attacked and then stabbed. Her handler, who was just a random person walking by her that day, found her and brought her to the agency where they fixed her up.

Preferred Weapon/Method:
She loves knives of any sort shape or fashion. She loves to make people suffer, depending on who it is. She typically goes for the male marks and seduces them into trusting her, and then she goes in for the kill, litterly.

Name: Byron Quinn

Age: 18

Time with the Agency: 6 years

Gender: Male

Appearance(if a pic, try to use a real person): Somewhat short, spiky blond hair. His eyes, being implants, have solid green irises, and his neck appears to have circuitry just below the skin. He is thin, and of slightly more than average height, and has lightly tanned skin.

Personality: Byron is an undeniably friendly person. He's almost always smiling, quick to laugh, and uses humour as a way for dealing with most of the problems that come his way - that or violence. On the other hand, he's a compulsive liar and, inside, completely inept in social situations. He is deeply secretive, and though he appears open, he desperately tries to keep every actual detail of his life hidden from prying eyes.

History: At the age of eleven, Byron was on a scouts hike when a major storm hit late one night. A lighting strike cracked open a tree, which fell on his tent, crushing his lungs while the fires on it burnt his eyes out and seriously disfigured his face. An emergency airlift was able to get him to hospital and onto life-support just in time, but he was in a deep coma, and didn't look like he would ever be able to step outside his hospital bed. The agency collected him, announcing to his family that he had died, and fitted him with implanted lungs and eyes and completely rebuilding his face, making him look like a totally different person.

Preferred Weapon/Method: He is a perfectionist, wanting to make sure the target is as dead as they can be. For that reason, while he often does make use of a Barrett M107 to deal with many targets, he likes to make sure of things with large applications of explosives.

Other: His handler's name is Anton, and the two of them frustrate each other to no end. Although Anton, being in the position that he is, is required to know exactly where Byron is at all times, and everything about him, Byron consistently lies to him regardless. Also, his lung implants mean that he can breathe in any conditions, and hold his breath (although that's rarely needed) for up to two hours at a time.

i dont know about you guys but i kind of like small groups, so if we want to go ahead and start with five people it would be a lot of fun and we could really focus on certain aspects of our writing, so after whitetiger has her profile up we could start.

Sounds good to me. If I don't post just remind me. I typically can be on alot though. But I say we deffinatly start!!!
