New photo.

I dunno what to call it. Any suggestions?
And sorry about the poor quality of camera, it was once again another photo from my phone, I'm still saving for my new camera. DX
It was a water feature in a garden of a really old house, it was used to help water the plants? At least that's what the guy that was there said it did, if anyone knows what they're called I'll love you forever! xD

Hey there Sheep! Shauni's here for your review.

I must tell you something, sometimes photos that we take with a camera from our phone don't necessarily read " bad photography". I know a site from a pro photographer and he has taken every photo with an iPhone camera and they all look great, 'cause he know hoe to work it.

Okay, get ready for this review. I might sound a bit bitchy but it's because I want you to get better at photography, okay?

So, the image itself is boring. I'm sorry but it's really boring. The water does not have any interesting aspect on it and that tube where the water comes out is not even working, so it's very plain. Then, you took this image form a very weak angle. There's that part of the water that's in the shade and another in the dark, the horizon of the image isn't straight... etc...
Putting all together, it's not good. Many sorries for this but, it's not good.

What you could have done to make this a better photo:

- The image should have been taken from above or from the side (the water and the air would separate the image in two something like this :



Always use the two thirds rule! In these kind of photos, of course. This technique can also be used on a landscape photo or a portrait with an environment on the back.

- Only take the photo on the light or on the dark. Don't mix the two in a mad composition.

- Get some action into the photo to get it interesting.

- Don't take the photo in a crocked way. It doesn't work.

Although you have so things to learn, these only come with experience, so don't stop taking photos and always improve your work. This wasn't very pleasent but I'm here to help you so please don't hate me for making this review .
I'm sure that when you have your new camera (yupi!), you will be able to produce a great work.
Don't stop trying! I'm sure you'll get much better!

I am sorry but I have to agree with Shauni. Though from an artistic standpoint, you have nice angles, this picture is boring. there really isn't anything the eyes can focus on and no eye path to follow. So the only thing I really see in this picture is the jet. All the other objects (like the pennies and the water) is lost because my eyes don't have a focal point to start from and an eye path to follow.

Start with close up shots that have one or two items that are very large. It sends the eye all over the picture without force. Once you have that down you can spread out your area and take larger scale pictures.

So remember: Focus point, eyepath, and interest. Oh and before I forget, colour. It's always good to have a little interesting colours that naturally draw the eye. 9If it's black and white try for very different shadings)

I actually really liked this photo, I think it's beautiful and you've made something as simplistic as a grate in the ground look artistic.

I do agree with Kamas though, I had to stare at this photo for quite some time looking like an idiot before I spotted the pennies.
