Hey there!!

This is Qasim here!!

For starters, I feel quite honored to be amongst people who not only express their inner emotions in words but are also brave enough to show it to the world! I have chanced upon a lot of people [Mind the word 'chanced' for they barely reveal themselves] who do write but then feel ashamed of it! So its Hats off to you people!

I'm new here so it probably going to take a while for me to get used to the ways things work around here and for me to start posting regularly.... I'll just be putting up one my poems for now... Please please feel free to criticize for i'm all ears!!

I do understand that it would be morally binding upon me to post reviews on your posts.....i will try to keep up to the 2:1 ratio......

anyways I've rambled on enough...... Hope to interact with all of you in due time!

Cheers
QwAcK

PS: I have to admit that this website is pretty cool... Three Cheers to the developers!!! :D

Hey, how are you doing? I see you've heard about the 2:1 ratio, so here are some ground rules that you should follow.

 Don't t4lK liiK3 tHiiS or use CAPS, l337 or chtspk. Anywhere. It's annoying and very hard to read.

 Give constructive reviews. "It's really good! Keep Writing!" Does not count. You have to give ideas on how they can get better, share your thoughts on the piece.

In additon, there are going to be some colored members that'll you'll see around YWS.

Black Members: Regular Members.
Blue Members: Greeters. They are the ones who greet the new members and are very active in the welcome forum.
Purple Members: Instructors. These are people who are dedicated to helping members improve their work. They give long, thought-out critiques and publish writing tips.
Light Green Members: Junior Moderators. They have powers to lock, move, delete and censor threads, but these ones usually only do one boards.
Regular Green Members: Moderators. These guys have the same powers as junior moderators, but they moderate a whole section of boards.
Red Members: Administrators: They have the power to do pretty much anything. Managable for the general ukeep of the website. There are only three red members, Nate, Firestarter & Meshungenah.

Now that the rules are all cleared away, Do you like to read? What are a few of your interests? Are you working on a novel or short story? PM me if you have any questions :-)

Hi Qasim! Nice name, very original (I think, since I've never heard before). I'm Kat! *shakes hand* As Rose has mentioned, I'm a Greeter *points at blue name* and my job is to show you around! I'd do anyway, since I liked your introduction.

So, I'm a poetry person myself! And I'd like to check out your style, any time soon! Have you posted any of them? You can check my portfolio, to check some of mine if you'd like ;D

Thank! YWS just had a face lift, meaning a full makeover. Our dearest Adm, Nate, YWS God, renewed our design.

And Hats off to you too! Few newbies know the rules when they get here. I know exactly what you mean; when I write something, specially poetry, I pour my soul into it. Poetry isn't just a few lines that rhyme -- it's a heart's words. Cheesy, I know xP

Now, I'd like to show you to the Buddy System!. Please check the link out. It's a system that really helps you get around. I am a mentor myself, and I'm currently out of students, so drop me a PM if you're interested :D

Tell us more about you! Blue or red? Soccer of american football? Ice cream or pancakes?

PM if you need anything, and have a great day!
-Kat

Heeeey Quasim ^^ Cool name, btw. Welcome to YWS! I'm Shina, one of the instructor-greeters here. It is my job and my pleasure to greet the newbs on YWS :elephant:

You know the drill, so it's time for your interview!

What kind of books do you like? What genre do you write? Do you enjoy libraries? You take photos? Do you ever find yourself analyzing details in books? Do you prefer pudding or cake? Do icecream cupcakes make you happy? What do you think of the letter Q? Have you joined in the YWS Grand Reopening fun? If not, then GO go go! Join in the fun!

Have a great day ^^
-Shina
You cannot dream yourself into a character; you must hammer and forge yourself into one.

The writer, when he is also an artist, is someone who admits what others don't dare reveal.

Bonjour mon ami!
I am Incognito, an Instructor in this site, and I would love to welcome you! It seems you are a great person, and I am sure you will enjoy it here. I have been around since December, and I don't feel compelled to leave at all. Warning though, it gets very addicted.

First thing is that don't feel pressured to post things up. I posted my first story a couple months after I joined. Just be active around the site. Then for reviews, you really shoul or else you won't be able to much and get others input on your stories. Reviewing is quite simple once you get the hang of it. Just try to be helpful as much as you can, and don't give those one line fluff reviews that the newbies every once and a while get caught doing. If you want to learn how to do an indepth review, take someones review that you were amazed with and use it as a model. I am sure you will catch on quick.

One YWS, we also have a points system. I am not sure if it is totally up yet, but users earn points by posting and reviewing. For your longer posts, you can get up to 50 points. Who ever gets the most points by the end of the month will be on the front page as the featured member. Pretty cool eh?

A tip I recommend to make friends on this site is to go to chat and stick around there for a bit. The regulars usually pop in there through out the day, and it is a great way to get to know people. That is how I met a lot of people. Everyone is friendly, so feel free to talk to anyones. In chat, sometimes we get games going, or very odd discussions. It is all fun and games, so why not drop by?

I also recommend looking into the groups section. In there there is a lot of groups you can join based on your personal interests and other things. That is another great way to get yourself known. Don't sit back and be overdone by other people. Make friends and enjoy yourself. If you befriend Instructors, you are guarenteed to get an excellent review if you want one.

Now one more thing. Feel free to ask any member anything if you are having trouble or just wanting to get to know us. We love random PM's. xD Well maybe not so much the Mods, it all depends on which one. Those guys get busy. The Instructors would be glad to help you out with writing, and the greeters would be glad to tell you the rules if you need them again. If you have trouble locating something, I am here. I know my way pretty well around this sit by now.

Hope to see you around the site, and I do hope to see more of you.
~Incognito
