Today was not meant
to take you away.
We did not know it would come.
We did not see you vanishing
into the mist of eternity
I watched you fly away,
not knowing it was you.
I said "hello" to your mother
and to your father
but not to you.
You were at school,
safely taking a biology test,
pencil in hand, completely unharmed.
I did not think it was you,
mangled and torn by
the car that whisked your life away
from you, from us.
Why did you have to leave?
Why do we dedicate races
and games to you now?
Why are you stolen from us?
These questions will never be answered.
I will never again see your living face.
I simply wish I could've told you
that I love you.
So maybe you will hear this cry,
maybe you will forgive me.
Maybe you will understand.
I love you, dear friend.
