Well as you can see I'm a newbie, I'm known mainly as Hawk, although if you want to call me Ranger or RH that's fine, too. :D I'm excited to join this writing community, thanks for having me!
Okay, a little bit about my book: I'm currently writing a medieval-based fantasy novel, number one in a trilogy, and hopefully someday I'll get it published--have to write it first, though, and I also have to stop editing it. I've gone through about four or five revisions of it already, I would've had it written by now if my characters could just make up their minds. ;) Okay, 'nough rambling (I do that a lot); feel free to ask any questions!

Hey Hawk! Welcome to the wacky (and recently improved :)) YWS!

Do you mostly write fantasy? I love, love, love fantasy, and it's the base of my own writing.

You have that problem too? The one with the editing? I'm exactly the same, and I've never finished one of my novels yet. Don't blame it on your characters, though, they're just there to fiddle with your mind, to annoy you and walk around your brain endlessly... just kidding. Or does that happen to you too? :P

Okay, so we have a few rules here in YWS (I'm assuming they're the same).

1. 2:1 ratio. That means, for every story/poem that you post, you have to submit two reviews. Reviews are generally three lines long.
2. NO CHAT SPEAK OR CAPS. Please. They accomplish nothing except for headaches.
3. Rate your work! (Ex. R would be a piece that contains swearing, etc.)

Well, good luck! Feel free to PM me if you need a review on your novel or something!

Hey Zoe, thanks! Yep, I've attempted teen fiction/romance, but I'm really not good at it, so I've been sticking with fantasy. I'm fascinated with the Middle Ages, which inspires a lot of my book ideas.

Yes! Never get anything finished! Haha, I'm always daydreaming, thinking about my characters and figuring out different plots for my story, I wouldn't say they bother me though. ;)

As for the rules, 1 and 3 are easy enough, and I love rule 2! I may forget and post an "lol" though, so bear with me. :D

Hey Heyo! (Please excuse my sorry jokes.)

Welcome to the Young Writers' Society, and have a great time! I think most of the rules have been specified before in this thread, but there is one thing I want to stress. You won't get many reviews on your work if you don't use correct capitalization, punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc. So, if you take a minute to check your work, (which I see you have already succeeded with in your introduction of yourself) you shall be splendid on this site! :elephant:

P.S. Sorry. I just had to throw that dancing purple elephant in there.

Hiya and welcome!

Great to see another fantasy writer around! I'm one myself, although I tend to stick to fantasy romance.

Just a quick little note that on the old YWS, we weren't allowed to have picture signatures. Despite that note not being put in yet, for loading times it would be best if you didn't use one. Some people still use dial-up, so pictures can slow the loading time by a lot. Picture sigs can also be a slight pain to scroll past.

I have finished one thing, but most of the time I'm bitten by the editing bug. It took me awhile to be able to stop that, and what I did was make a new document for all the changes I wanted to make, and wrote as if those changes had been made. Worked wonders. ^^

Hope to see you around the forums, and PM me with any questions!

Abigail--thanks for the welcome! Haha, I like that dancing elephant! :D

Rosey--thanks, fellow fantasy writer! Good to know about the sig picture, I'll change that. Haha, I think books would never get written if people just kept editing. Always finding something to change.

Haha, I know! I think that's why authors don't read their books for fun. We'll always find something to change a month later.

Do you like a certain style of fantasy, or do you just write whatever?

Exactly!

I'm a fan of Sword & Sorcery-type fantasy, anything with knights, swords, and dragons. :D What about you?

It looks like everyone pretty much covered everything, so I'll tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Ellie, but you can call me Thorn. What kind of things do you like to write? Do you have any favorite movies, shows?

Dragons! *excited look* Yeah, I love dragons, as you can probably tell by my name. :)

My characters don't really bother me too, but I'll be reading a book and then I'll think, "What would Zac do? How would she react?" It does get pretty annoying, not to mention frustrating. Either that or they'll start talking to me. :P

I tend to be a mix of character-driven fantasy, romantic fantasy, and any sort of action. The more unusual the setting, the more I'm probably going to get into the story, and I have a very hard time reading any stories without character tensions.

Hey Thorn! :D I'm mainly a fantasy writer, I've been working on a couple of short stories, and I've finished a novelette (I think it's about 12,000 words in length) that I have no idea what to do with. Yes, I do have quite a few favorite movies, I'm a moviehead. ;) The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Sleepy Hollow, Aliens, The Dark Knight, Hidalgo, stuff like that.

Cool! I enjoy reading stories with epic battles, characters you can really relate with, and lots of comic relief (I like laughing).

Hmm, I just realized that I've posted a few times in a row on the same thread...is that okay? I got in trouble for it on this other forum, don't know if it's not allowed on here. :o

That's cool. I really want to see Alien, It seems like a cool movie. LoTR was good, even though they were really long. Have you seen star wars at all?
