Writing Rap Lyrics

Yeah. I get to write a rap song. Yay for me!

Anyway, I was wondering if you guys had any advice for writing rap lyrics. Anything helps, really.

O__O At first I was like, "why must you rap?"

Hmm, I'll try to do the best I can for you, Snoinkers. I have (had?) a lot of friends that rap. xD The reason I put had is because I haven't seen most of them all summer, and I can't remember who raps and who raps who's moved.

But anyways, when it comes to rapping, you use a lot of slant rhymes.
Even if the word just sounds similar, you can use it in a rap. You can even
pronounce a word differently or break it up to make it rhyme. It's kind of like forcing
poetry at times, but when you rap, it's usually really fast, so no one really notices how
cheesy the rhymes are.

You might take the Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow" for example--

Rhyme scheme eating up lyrics example:

I'm so 3008
You so 2000 and late

Yo, I got that hit that beat the block
You can get that bass overload
I got the that rock and roll
That future flow

These words just sound similar. They actually don't rhyme if you read the lyrics.

The next thing would be: you don't have to use real words. Yes, you can use sounds that range from "shizamm" to "willlehap", slang terms like "Yo" and "sup", vibrating words (Gotta get-get, gotta g-g-g-get-get-get-get, get-get), and you can break the english laws.

That means you don't need proper grammar. (ex: Them chickens jackin' my style)

Heck, your lyrics don't even have to make sense. Think of "Soulja Boy"! What does that song mean anyway?

You can also repeat something over and over (think of pokerface).

It's like, the guidelines of what makes music nowadays (though they don't mention in with a positive light.)

However, there are some rap songs that have good meaning to them, like "Where is the Love." But they're pretty hard to come by.
