Hey :)

Just thought I'd quickly introduce myself...

So I'm Jess, and I recently turned 16. Writing has always been a passion of mine, albeit one that's been somewhat buried in recent years, so at the moment I'm really enjoying getting back into it.

I'm really not quite sure what else to say here, which is very unusual as I am an incredibly talkative person :)

Ooh actually, I might as well mention my favourite reads at the moment (which are co-incidentally my 3 most recent reads) which are "The Virgin Suicides" by Jeffrey Eugenides, "Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold and "My Sisters Keeper" by Jodi Picoult. I think the reason these all appeal to me is because I find the writing really really beautiful, and I suppose interestingly enough they all focus on death, which is actually a theme in the piece I'm writing at the moment- maybe that's why I'm particularly drawn to them?

And to end on a lighter (probably more interesting) note, I can't click or whistle :o
But I can roll my tounge, so I guess in that respect I'm not completely hopeless....

:)
So, yes...hi!

Hi Jess,

I love Jodi Picoult's books, especially My Sister's keeper. Have you seen the film yet? I saw it and was really disappointing as they changed the ending, worth seeing though, if you can live through that :)

More importantly; Welcome to YWS! I'm ZaddieCaso but everyone on the site calls me Izzy.

Okay, we have a few rules here, as long as you follow they you should be fine;

-We have a ratio of 2 reviews: 1 piece of work, it just keep things fair

-No swearing in your reviews, no one likes it especially the site moderators

-Please reframe from graphic sex scenes, though light intimacy is fine

- Give your work a rating depending on it's content (pg-13, R, g...ect)

-Try to edit your work up to the best of your ability before you put it on here

Most importantly have fun!

Pm me if you need anything.

Hiyas, Jess! :) Welcome to YWS!

It's wonderful to meet you! *hands a slice of cheesecake* I'm Mira. :)

So, I suppose you're wondering a bit about the different types of members on the site. I'll tell you a bit about them. ^-^

Members are distinguished by the colors of their names. ^-^

Purple - Instructors! They are the best reviewers on the site and help improve the world of grammar.
Blue - Greeters! They hang around the Welcome forum to greet the new members. :) You'll meet a few of them, I'm sure.
Green - Moderators! They're some of the most awesome people and make sure that everything around the site is running smoothly.
Red - Administrators! Without these lovely people, YWS wouldn't exist. :O But luckily they're here, allowing us all to write and meet wonderful people like yourself.
Orange - Distinguished Members! They are all retired moderators and super awesome. ^-^

Anyway, you can roll your tongue? That's super cool! No matter how hard I try, I can't get my tongue to roll.

"My Sister's Keeper" is a good book. Well, at least the fifty pages I read were. :) I'll have to read the rest eventually, but it's super cool that you like it. ^-^

So, what type of music do you usually listen to? What's your favorite color?

PM me if you need anything. ^-^ I'd be happy to help!

Hey,
I finally got around to replying- almost a week later! Although, to be fair, I have been away for the majority of this week.

Thanks for the friendly greeting- it's always so intimidating to join anything new online, where everybody seems to know everybody!

No, I haven't actually seen the film yet- I'm so indecisive as to whether I want to or not. In the end,I may give it a miss at the cinema but borrow it from someone on DVD- it devastates me when a book I enjoyed is made into a film, and doesn't live up to or stick to the book.
Yeah, the ending seems like a huge change, and I heard they also removed the character of Julia? And apparently they changed Jesse's character somewhat? Hmm, I'm not sure- despite that it does still look like a good watch, but I don't want the book to be ruined, if you get what I mean?
It was actually the first of her novels that I've read, but I really enjoyed it, and a friend of mine is a big fan, so I'm excited to get started on the rest :)

Thanks for letting me know the rules- they seem easy enough to follow!

So again, thanks for the comment, and it's nice to meet you :)

Heyyy :)

Thanks for the cheescake! I love cheescake actually, but haven't had any in aaages.

Haha, yeah I think I finally managed a few months ago...and I was far more excited by it than I should have been. Although, it is really amusing to do when you're bored. :)

Yeah, I really liked it, although it did take me a while to get into it- it was worth it in the end!

Oh, I'm so terrible with questions- I'm such an indecisive person.
I guess I listen to a fair few different types of music, but I'm not really into the whole dance/ rap/ hip hop etc style music.
Oh you have Regina Spektor in your signature!
That's awesome :) I love her music, I think my favourites are Us, Samson, Fidelity and Raindrops, although I actually really like her new(ish) song, erm Laughing With?

And as for favourite colour- I have no idea, although I really love purples and blues. Having said that, my new laptop arrived today, and it's an amazing lime green- I think I'm in love with it!

Thanks for the colours/members explanation...I get you get used to it after a while, but until then I'll keep on checking back here!

Nice to meet you!
Jess :)

Congratulations!
