Dear Woman and Man,

You say you’re my parents
but you’re truly not
you were never there for me
you didn’t hug me good night
you never read to me
in fact you were never home.
You left me at one
to do what you wanted
and gave me to the prison
it’s really horrible there
but not as bad as it would be with you
I will never come back to you
not after you left me
that’s the worst thing you could do to a child.
I wrote your name in the sand and the sea washed it away! I wrote your name in my heart and there it will stay.

haha when i read the title i was thinking beating / ignore ...

this hits very close to home for me....haha... here at my house... there is no one here...usually.. if i stay home its only going to be me here...many people would see it as lucky that our parents are never around.... but its not...

its you raising yourself...eh ?..... it was okay for me.. the poem that is..

but the message ? i did like a lot... i would love to see it retailored into something different about how it hits your life.. more than how it hits you...

Nice idea, but you really need to spice up the words that you use.
You need more words appealing to the senses, and more exact words.
Also, don't say 'It's really horrible there', because that doesn't flow at all, and makes it sound like a little kid is writing it. Try describing the place more instead.
Basically, you need to focus on some of the details more, and be more descriptive.

Hellooo!
This poem overall was fairly good.
The opening line was my favourite, "Dear Woman and Man." I like the way you have excluded these people from being your parents, it was a very clever idea.
The first thing I noticed when reading this was that you haven't included any punctuation. Some poetry can work without punctuation, but most poets choose to use it because it helps the rhythm and flow. The lack of it here made the rhythm seem very fragmented and broken and didn't benefit it at all.
Also, the language you have used is very simple which may add to the tone, which is obviously very plain and detatched. However, I think that you could have used more emotive language in places to show that you do care about what you're writing, because to sit down and write a poem means there is obviously some passion there.
I did, however like the title of the piece, it caught my attention straight away and I loved how you linked the final line back to the title, it was a very nice touch.

I think I preferred the idea of this poem more than the way it is written. But of course, once the idea is in your head, the world is your oyster! Just work on your writing technique a little and fabulous poetry should follow!

Hi there!
Okay, the meaning and narrative of this poem stand out as the positive things here because it's gripping and has something some of us can familiarise ourselves with, so it's very engaging.
Nitpick wise, this poem needs refining. I think you need to use far more punctuation, possible every end of line, because it's got no fluency or rhythm, so its lacking potential affect which is dissapointing. Also I'd try and vary your vocabulary a lot more so you can throw some really vivid imagery out there and cast our minds into indepth thought. The title is a bit of a formal one for a poem like this as much as its captivating, I think it draws the reader in for the wrong reasons. So perhaps revise that. It might just be me, but hey. Also I think the ending needs to be thought through more. The line is too long and disrupts the flow and voice, creating a tone that displays the meaning from a more "god-pov" way instead of it being personal, so it lacks potential affect; and I don't find myself really feeling the message you portrayed.
I think you just need to work on the idea because its brilliant. Give it attention and effort and you'll produce something beautifully crafted.
Keep up the good work,
~Ben
