What I see from just my front door.

So, I walked outside today to run to my neighbors and I snagged the camera. The first four are just some of the local flowers and stuff. All of the editing was done in GIMP and the photos were all taken with my dads cheap digital camera.









These are of the empty lot next to my house. It's pretty run down, but I could actually walk through it now that the owners of the lot mowed a week ago. It's a once a year event. Very exciting. ^^

Anyway, your pictures are very nice. The flower are pretty and fresh with very vivid colours! The third flower is a little blurry and the fourth is a little too bright. The pink flower is my fave!

The pictures of the house and surroundings are brilliant! They have a forgotten home feel to them. The swing is very cute. The one with the nail in it looks a little blurry, I'm not an expert but maybe if you where just a little bit back it would have been great! The one with the lock is also a fave!

These are great. I especially like the ones of the house. But i wish the one of the nail had turned out clearer.

Lovely photos, actually the 5th and 6th are especially my favorites, they remind me of a setting in one of my stories. I was wondering if I could use this to represent some of my scenes, is that alright with you if of course they remain copy writed to you?

And as far as the fuzzy nail thing goes, I actually tried this shot 6 different times. I actually fell quite in love with the idea of putting the main object out of focus but having a crisp clear background. *might be crazy*

You photography always amazes me These are wonderful! The flowers are so colourful and bright. I adore the pink one. It just so peaceful. Your pictures of the old, left over house are goregous. My fav one is the swing. I love the way it all just fits in with each other. The old, rust chains and grey broken down base sitting in with the green from the grass. I think you went the right way when pulling the forcus off fromt he nail and have it a blurr. You could have done it the other way around as well, but blurr againest the nail and the cob webs make it stand out on its own. Good job

Wow those pictures are really beautiful. They are so clear and they highlight the colors perfectly! It amazes me that you can have such a beautiful view from outside your front door! LUCKY!! Please do more of this natural photography, it's GREAT!

I love your pictures! The flowers, while they are bright and vibrant, are very common. I fell in love with the first 2 of the rickety old house. They are unique, with an edge of mysticality. They leave you wondering. "How old is this building? When did it start to deteriorate? What little girl sat on this swing, singing a song and kicking the dirt?" Great job! I'd like to see more!

Well off we go.

1 - I quite like this one and the angle of it and how you didn't just do the obvious take a photo of the whole flower. I just like the way you framed it so that some of the flower lies out of the frame. The colours are pretty amazing I assume you edited them slightly but good job, I like how vibrant they are and everything looks to be in focus so good job.

2 - Again I like the angle that you have chosen with this photo. It works well and I like the composition, how you don't have the flower in the centre but that it is to one side. On the other hand something is going on the left handside of the frame. I think a blade of grass or something is quite close to the camera and so has gone out of focus and it just creates this distraction for the eye. Plus it cuts into the flower in the image which makes it even more distracting compared to any other blade of grass that might be out of focus. As the flower is what you are drawing the viewers attention to, this blade of grass becomes more problematic. Other than that I quite like this photo and the contrasts with the white and blacks that I assume you created.

3 - Erm...I'm not sure how to comment on this photo as it appears to be completely out of focus? In my mind that's not a good thing.

4 - I quite like this photo and how the plant is like attached to this wall? or the floor? The light is good and the colours and focus appear to be pretty good. The only problem I have with it is that there is a ton of off-white deadspace which is really distracting. Deadspace isn't necessarily good in a photo especially when it is so blank like in this photo. People's eyes tend to be drawn to large amounts of deadspace like this and away from the subject of your photograph. The only time I would advise using deadspace alot is if you were shooting for say a magazine and needed space to place the text on. So I would probably crop this photo, especially at the bottom.

5 - Oh! I really like this photo. I think this is my favourite of the bunch. The composition is really good, I like how you have the house basically taking up the whole of the frame. Also the way you have composed it, your eye is just nicely lead up to the front door of the house, which is a good thing to do; a path through the photo. I think I like this one most because it just engages my mind and makes me think of a million different story ideas, which the flower photos don't. I've seen flower photos a million times but this photo is different and interesting. The focus is good, the light is good and the focus is good. Good job!

6 - I quite like the concept of this photography, a sort of abandoned swing. The problem is that the composition isn't particularly original, it's quite a standard angle and I think this would have come alive with a more interesting angle. Perhaps if you went portrait? All your photos seems to be landscape. I find that if you just tip your camera to take portrait photos, then the lines in the photo can work better. I'm not saying do it all the time but just keep in mind that some things can be better captured in portrait. Especially if you think you could have caught more of the swing that way and made interesting lines in the photo. Also what drags it down is the fact that one of the chains appears to be getting lost in the background detail.

7 - This one is a little confusing. I assume the focus was the nail but that is out of focus. If it was the background then the fact that you have this huge nail, that is out of focus, in the way just doesn't really help. I'm not really liking this photo much. I'm not sure what your aim was and that is never good really.

8 - oooh. Interesting angle, I very much like the angle of this shot. Good composition and the focus is good, I like all the detail that is nice and crisp. The lock looks a little weird, almost like you cut it out and copied it onto this photo. I know that you probably didn't but it just looks like that. I'm not saying it's bad either.

So overall I think you are pretty good at composition, just makes sure all your subjects are interesting and in focus is all I would say and watch that you don't go too heavy handed on the editing. Also just keep in made that photos don't always have to be landscape, even if you're not taking a photo of a person you can still go portrait.

1, I love. 2 and 3, not so much. They just look out of focus, and it's kind of confusing because there's not really a certain point of attraction, so my eyes are just mindlessly scanning it. 4 just looks like an uprising of plants on a hot sidewalk. 5 is stunning! I absolutley adore it! It's so...gorgeous! I like six too; it reminds me of a short story I did on kidnapping (because I thought of how a child should be on a swing [/explaining myself]). In seven, again, I'm not sure what the focus is. Is it the nail? The stuff behind it? The dust? And lastly, the lock picture is perfect.

First of all, for the most part these pictures are very good for a cheap digital camera!
#1 and #2 are gorgeous. #3 is almost unrecognizable. #4 looks like exactly what it is, some dry withering flowers begging for a drink. #5 I like a lot. It makes me wonder what's inside! #6 is also very good. #7 is out of focus but had the potential to be a great picture. #8 is by far my favorite, it's so simple but perfect. The focus is great and I love the contrast between the color of the rust and the color of the wood.
