ok, if you don't kno what swine flu is yet then you either live in an omish community or don't own a television. You know swine flu, that flu pandemic that spead across the world from mexico? Well there's so much speculation and confusion about it that I thought I'd start a thread.

So, I know swineflu is all around my school at the moment in the Uk, what do you guys think about it?

Swine flu is definitely bad, but no worse than the seasonal flu. Right now, they're just worried that it could mutate into something more serious this fall. That's what happened to the Spanish Flu of 1918.

Ahem. *pushes glasses up nose in a condescending manner* The correct term for that illness is now H1N1.

 Not that it matters.

Yeah around me too. I think I'll start freaking out when my neighbor catches it or something.

Where I'm from it's pretty serious... and annoying. They keep bathing us in hand sanitizer every time we walk in a room!!! But yeah it's serious I think two people die of it every week. So it's got us pretty spooked and annoyed.

I dunno, see I'm a vegetarian, and I think it started from people eating bacon and ham! Stop eating meat and you wouldn't get these horrible deseases! Lol, Just joking! But seriously though, this is horrible. When it first happend it was on the news everyday and was incredibly scary. I just think that it won't get more than 'incredibly scary', ya know? Like sure it will spread and kill off quite a few people, but I bet you a penny, heads and tails, that it will die down by the end of this year. Two pennies, that it will die down to few people by the end of this year. Three that it will be restricted to one country. Just my opinion. :D

My best friend started coming down with it the Tuesday before I was due to fly out to Italy. I'd spent the whole day with her s we had a massive scare that I would get it... I didn't (which in all rights I should have), and just got back from that holiday this week. Rome is amazing. And even better when you don't have swine flu.

I don't think people should panic over it. I also don't think you should make fun of it. It could get really serious this fall. Do not underestimate things like this.
Sorry if that was over-dramatic. But seriously, think about it.

At least five people in my year at school have had it. One came down with it while we were on a school trip to Normandy (in France), all of us cooped up in tiny dorms, and so far nobody's had it more seriously than the usual flu. The headmaster didn't close the school even though it isn't just our year anymore; it would have spread a bit further though had it not been for the holidays. I think they're trying to get us some immunity to bird flu, which is supposed to be worse.

The teachers all got called to a spontaneous meeting during our school sports day. My dad is a teacher at my school, and he said all of them thought someone had got run over or something, but no. Swine flu. The world is coming to an end.

A lot of people who've died of swine flu are described as having "underlying health problems" on the news, anyway.
