I Can Has Fotograffy?

While I'm browsing the website, waiting for my writing muse to strike, would anyone mind if I posted some of my photography?

105mm Sigma macro lens
28-135 Canon zoom lens

And I have my 10-22mm ultra wide Sigma lens coming in the mail, I am so excited!

I think that the reason there are no reviews on this yet is because we're all speechless. Maybe tomorrow, after I'm done with my silent ranting about how these are awesome, I'll manage to find a tiny detail out of place or something and edit this post with real reviews.


These are amazing, Vonika. My favorite is the first, but they're all eye candy to me. Beautiful. And wonderful editing to wonderful pictures. My jaw dropped at the first picture, and it fell until it couldn't naturally go down any further

Wow. These are really good. My favorites are 3, 5, 7, 11, and 12. I like the focus and blur pictures. The ones with the child, I notice that the child had a connection with the camera, especially the first one. I like some of the angles you used with the flowers. Sounds like you have a nice camera.

Wow these are magnificent! They're beautiful! there's so much emotion in all the pictures and as CuteBalletDancer7 said the children look as if they have a connection in the photos! The first and second last one are my favorite! They are amazing! You have such talent and probably good software and a good camera!

Can that just be my review?

These are amazing and I definitely don’t mind that you posted your photography.

Picture 1. As I was scrolling down, I was a little confused, thinking to myself What in the world am I looking at? But as I realized that this image was upside down, I was even more impressed but the way you edited it. The fact that the stem and other greenery are so dark and dreary but the pink of the petals is so bright and beautiful has a great impact.

Picture 2. You got the idea of balance down here by having the flower shifted off to the right. However, the bottom right of the image seems a bit blurry and it feels a bit like a distraction to me.

Picture 3. Here too you practiced the idea of balance and the way you project sadness through the flower is brilliant.

Picture 4. The photoshopping here is noticeable (at least I assume what I‘m seeing is photoshopped) but that’s not a bad thing. You did a great job and the image is so dramatic. However, the birds in the image seem to deflect from the human image in the picture.

Picture 5. All I have to say is: “You had to have photoshopped those eyes. They’re too wonderful to be real.”

Picture 6. Something about the color looks wrong in this one. They seem too bright in the bottom in contrast with the deep dark of the sky.

Picture 7. This is the only picture I’m not fond of because I can’t focus on anything in particular. There’s just too much going on. That’s likely because there are two object to focus on and each one brings an equal amount of attention.

Picture 8. I’m not really sure what I’m looking at but it looks cool.

Picture 9. I like the idea of this but the blur of it seems to distract from the impact that a strong powerful and sharp image that you could have here.

Picture 10. I dig the action shot here. Everything that is going on is captured so brilliantly in a single instant and that face needs its own emoticon.

Picture 11. I’m glad you didn’t do this in black and white for one really important reason. It would have been cliché. The image is so lonely and desolate but the idea is easily read. Adding greyscale would have pushed the idea too far.

Picture 12. Once again, I’m just not so fond of the blur in this picture. It distracts the focus to much for me. The portion that is sharp is awesome.

Picture 13. Wow, a classic car that I would kill a man too own. The coloring is awesome here and the fact that the front of the car is projected away makes it seem even cooler. It gives the car attitude.

Overall, these are so cool and I wish I had mad photog skills.

Whoa, these are absolutely amazing.

The last I'm not as fond of, I think that if you centered the car a little more, it would look better. I'm no expert of photography and graphic design, though.

The sixth isn't great either. It's seems, well. I could do it, and I'm only average at photography. But my, are the rest amazing.

And the first little girl is so cute! Like Lily said, it does look a little photoshopped though.

But anyway, I only have a few nitpicks, which is rare of me.


On Picture Number 6, I kind of have a feeling that the logs take a away from the otherwise picturesque photo. Maybe you should have moved them out of your way?

On Picture Number 13, I do not really like the car, or how It's placed or whatever. Maybe you should have placed it putting sideways or taken it out of the picture entirely.

On Picture Number 4, whoever is in that photo probably should not have been. It's a little annoying when there is absolutely beautiful scenery going around and then little people in the distance ruin it >.>

On Picture Number 12, I don't think you should have blurred it, because the part that's sharp and clear looks really cool.

All of the other ones- practically perfect in every way.

All I can say is... wow!

I absolutely love all of these photos, but the first one is my favorite. I love the angle of the shot, and the way the stem and leaves are in black and white, drawing the viewer's attention to the colorful display of petals. I enjoy taking pictures, but although we recently purchased Adobe Photoshop, I have no idea how to go about editing them (although I'm inerested in learning how if you have any advice.) Still, it seems like making pictures like the ones above has got to take a lot of skill and I am just blown away. I can't wait to see some more!

I especially like the 1st one actually, I think Its the detail on the flower, I can see the very texture of the stem!

I don't care how cheesy that is, but seriously, these are amazing! I don't really care to focus on the faults, because you truly have amazing and real talent with the photography. You the effects that you did with photoshop or whatever you used are awesome.

Photo three:
This is by far my favourite. I don't know why. Maybe it's the wilting petals, but it is still so beautiful. It's wonderful. Awe-inspiring.

So, seriously, keep up the good work. They're amazing.

These are incredible, I especially love the ones of the flowers, the way you've captured them is just fantastic! The one of the blossoms is particularly beautiful, the way you focus the lens on just a few petals, and have made it black and white, magical!

These were really inspiring, I've never had a talent for photography, but looking at things like this, it makes me want to try! thank you for posting these, they are wonderful!

I really like 4, 5, 6, 8 and 13. You have a very good eye for what would look good in a photo, plus a real talent for colour. I ould say, that a lot of these photos are, very sale able if that's why you are looking at photography, but not that original in subject, flowers, cars and children. It really depends what your looking to go into and how far you are taking photography. But that is simply me, having nothing else to complain about and having to stick with the most absurb comments.
Are you going in to photography professionally, because I bet you're a lot better than most of the people out there?

At the moment I'm in the process of trying to sell stock photography (but it is more difficult than it sounds. I need more practice ).

Meggy, you mentioned that you just got Photoshop, which is great. The tools I use most are Curves, Highlight/Shadow, Photo Filter, and occasionally some special effects like gaussian blur, grayscale, frames, ect. Also, what I'm experimenting with now is bracketing. Bracketing is a feature on DSLR cameras (not sure about point and shoot cameras) where the camera will take 3 pictures in a row: one at normal exposure, one overexposed, and one underexposed. I merge them together in Photoshop, especially in outdoor shots where you can see the land and sky at the same time, and with some erasing and adjusting, you can see both the sky and the land in a proper exposure, and it makes for a cool look. You can get the same effect with a physical filter (I use a Cokin filter).

Oh, PS, I noticed some people mentioned that the little girl seemed to have very Photoshopped eyes. Actually, that photo is probably the least edited out of all of these! She just had naturally beautiful eyes.

Some point-and-shoot cameras do have a bracketing mode, also known as Auction mode on some cameras.
