I went back a few pages and couldn't find a specific thread for the show...so..

Anyone a fan? I've been watching all through Season One and am stoked for the Season 2 Episode 2 to come on tonight.

Now, for those of you out of the loop:

True Blood is based off of the Souther Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris. I have not read them, because I did not know the show was based off of the books. Now, the story is about the modern world and 'Vampires coming out of the coffin' due to a Japanese Manufactured Synthetic Blood called TruBlood. It follows the misadventures of Sookie Stackhouse, her vampire beau, Bill Compton and the other people of small town Bon Temps in Louisianna.

Now, with all the Twilight...awfulness floating around, it's hard for a real fantasy fan to look at anything involving vampires that is new and not be skeptical. Even though this show does have a romantic aspect, it is far from the ridiculousness of the Twilight Series.

I'd recommend it to anyone who is a Vampire fan and a fan of good writing. Remember the days of Buffy? These Vamps don't sparkle.

A little warning though, True Blood does hold a lot of blatant nudity and sexual content due to the fact that it is on HBO. So, younger viewers...watch out.

I LOVE True Blood! Drama, Suspense, Murder, Comedy, Sexy Vampires, and Sam Merlotte! Whats not to love! I am actually trying to write a fanfiction for the show, it's just I don't have any ideas for one yet...but True Blood is AWESOME!!!

Agreed!

True Blood is ALMOST as good as Buffy ;)
(Except Buffy Season 7, which just sucked)

A lot of people are upset about the changes from the novels, but I LOVE them. I think the show is a lot better than the novels. I LOVE Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer! And although at first I was mad at the casting choice (he's not particularly attractive), Alexander Skarsgard is starting to win me over as Eric. His acting talent is slowing making up for his lack of gorgeousness!

Yeah, I'm loving TrueBlood and wanted to write a Fanfic as well for it, I'm actually thinking of buying up TrueBloodFanfiction.com just to host it. Buuuut, Charlaine Harris gets pretty pissy (like Anne Rice, must be a vamp writer thing?) when people write fanfiction about her books, but with all the changes in the series, I think I'd get away with it.

Buffy rocks, nothing beats Buffy.

Though, I DID love the reference to Buffy in the early episodes of TrueBlood, Sam talking about someone coming to kill Bill...Kill Bill...I didn't even mean to do that.

ANYWAY,

I just started reading the series. It's good writing, and I like it, but I LOVE the changes too. I feel like it sticks with the charming Harris stories, and then the producers and writers made it their own, made it more developed, actually, not saying Harris' stories weren't already. With the books being told in first person, it's limiting.

I've gotten to where I really love True Blood despite all the things I hate about it. I have trouble watching it because I don't like Anna Paquin/Sookie Stackhouse (Though, I'm reading the series now and I like Sookie a bit more. Maybe its just Anna...). And maybe becasue I'm southern so watching people with Southern accents makes me a bit uncomfortable...we're used to being the butt of the joke. But I love Eric in the book and the show so I end up soaking up all his scenes and hoping to rush everyone elses. I love Hoyt and Jessica, Sam, and Jason too. I guess I just dont like the main characters... Oh well I can certainly get over it.
How was the first season? I didnt get to see it for a while and just caught back on towards the end of season two. Is it worth a trip to Blockbuster and five bucks?

I love both True Blood and Buffy. True Blood is something worth watching over and over but unfortunately for me I can't see season 3 of it on TV since I can't get any channels, so I'll have to wait for it to be on DVD. Screw it I can't I want it now!!

I'm so glad I found this post, because I am undoubtedly and irreversibly in love with True Blood.

I'm now starting to read the Sookie Stackhouse novels, which are good so far, but a little difficult to get into. They are a lot different to the TV show, but in a good way. True Blood makes Twilight look like an afterschool special. I admit I too wasn't keen on Eric at first, but since he got a haircut in Season Two and became nicer to Sookie, I can see myself growing fonder of him..

I've got some True Blood FanFiction here http://www.youngwriterssociety.com/viewtopic.php?t=66378, if any of you want to check it out. It's Romance/Supernatural and based around Godric and an OC of mine, but pretty much all the residents of Bon Temps are in there.

Thank you Alan Ball!

My parents cancelled my HBO! I can't watch Trueblood anymore! This always happens to me! Every single season, I see a few episodes, then something happens so that I can't watch it! GRRRR! I can't wait for the dvd, not when I was so happy that Bill was being abducted and such!
