I am believed to terrify each and every land,
I have in my hand a deadly magic wand,
With its flick, a curse and a quick wave of hand
I can transport you to a dry land of sand.

You picturize me as a dirty hag with a black cat,
A gown, a tangle and an old-fashioned hat.
You say I can easily turn you into a tiny rat.
Sometimes even, wonder if I transform into a bat!

You live in a strange world, completely sci-fi,
Yet you think if you see me, you’ll surely die.
Do you really think with a broomstick I can fly?
I’m helpless and for once believe me-I’d never lie.

To me people are rude; they never say ‘Hi!’
Though I’m sure, they’d be happy to bid me Goodbye.
When they see me, they cry out loud ‘My O My!’
Everyone dislikes me, but I don’t know why.

You think I know only a single word -‘Hate’.
If you talk to me, you think you’ll never know your fate.
You firmly believe that you will be eternally late,
If you once listen to me when I say, “Please wait.”

Don’t scare the children by telling them that I’ve an enormous pot!
In which I always keep boiling all creatures really hot!
They fear me greatly and dread of being caught.
It’s your fault I never wanted to frighten any tiny tot.

Anger, curses, magic words aren’t the only things I say,
I have a life and want to live it all well and gay.
Give me a chance a minute, an hour or maybe even a day
Please don’t shatter my dreams by saying, “Nay!”

I am kind, I can bless and love and can make everything right.
I like the day with the birds, flowers and sunshine not only the night.
With my wand I can bring in light -heart warming and bright!
I ain’t no devil, not bound by evil I can bet it with all my might.

This has a good idea. I like the way you portrayed this witch, not as all evil, but as a person who has been scorned by the world. However, some of your rhyming sounds too forced, and overall (this is my opinion) I think the rhyming actually detracts from the poem's effect. Just write what you feel. It doesn't have to rhyme (sometimes poems that almost rhyme but don't are really good). Keep on writing. I like your ideas.

I thought this was good. I liked the rhyming athough I do have to agree that it does seem a bit forced at places. But over all I thought this was very good! The idea was also good. Keep writing!

Good God people, poems do NOT have to rime. Stop riming - it makes the poem awful. I couldn't even get through the piece, the riming is so forced. Please please please learn to write in free verse.

My thoughts echo those above. The rhyming was too forced. You don't have to rhyme and if you do, you need to really think about the words you use before you use them and try to make them as smooth and natural as possible.

I am believed to terrify each and every land,
I have in my hand a deadly magic wand,

This one thing really bugged me. Wand does NOT rhyme with land... sorry, just had to point that out.

I think you could create a good poem here if you either rewrote it totally free verse or really worked on your rhyming to make it less forced because there can be good rhyming poems, but they take a lot of work. Also, I would suggest instead of just stating facts, maybe painting some clearer images in some parts.
I encourage you to keep writing, do not be discouraged by my criticism

I thought the poem was quite good. I agree with comments made of some parts being a little forced. However, i thought the way you created the witch with a normal character was good. Well done! :)
Real poetry are those with the best words in the best order

There's nothing wrong with rhyming poems, only forced rhymes. Just thought I'd lay that down.
