Chapter 2
“Shelly! Here girl!” I had cried out in fear. Horrible thoughts drifted into my mind. What if she was killed? What if I never found her? Then I saw him.
He was sitting against a tree, Shelly lying by his side. He was carving a branch. He was gorgeous. His golden blond hair was long, his bangs covered his bright blue eyes. He examined the arrow he had carved, and set it down next to him. I walked over slowly.
“Er… Hello?” I said nervous. I could tell I liked him because of how my stomached twisted in tiny little knots. “Oh hi... This must be your dog.” He finally had spoken up. His voice so angelic it took me forever to unglue my tongue from the roof of my mouth. I replied, “Yes, thank you. Er… my name is Elizabeth. What is yours?” “Hello Elizabeth I am Justin.” He stood up. He was a few inches taller than me. “Now tell me Justin, how old may you be?” “Ah, yes I am at the ripe old age of 14. Now may I ponder the thought of how old you are?” At the time I thought of how a guy like him would never go out with a twelve year old girl so I aged a year and told him I was 13, but my birthday was only weeks away. In just one day I had broken two rules. He looked into my eyes as I gazed dreamily into his. He spoke once again to tell me how to get out. I was so taken back by him I fell. I don’t know how or why I fainted, but I did.
I awoke with my head in his lap. He was sitting against the tree again. I closed my eyes hoping he would stay there with me. It was amazing. Finally I opened my eyes.
“Well, good morning sleepy head.” His rosy pink lips broke into a grin. I started to get up when he pushed me back down. I was glad he had. My head had begun to seer with pain.
“What happened?” I said faintly. “Well I had begun telling you how to get out of here when you fainted. Just like that. I was scared so I picked you up and took you over to my tree. I sent your dog out and laid your head on my lap. You woke up then went to sleep, then woke up again.” I blushed at the thought of him knowing my reasons for waking up then closing my eyes. “Well I must go to my mom and pa. They are probably worried about me.” I got up, Justin standing behind me in case I would fall. I began to wobble when he picked me up and carried me to the edge of the forest. By then I had been able to gain some form of balance. He then told me that he could not go any further.
“Well then I guess this is good bye.” I had said sadly. “Will I ever see you again?” “Only time will tell.” He said smiling. I wanted to take a picture of the smile on his face. His mouth was perfect. I wanted to kiss him. See what good his lips would do me. Yet he was gone before I even had the chance. I floated rather than walked back. He was in my thoughts the rest of the weeks i was without him. I told Maybelle of how I loved him. She seemed so proud now that I was in love. Little did I know my time was running out.
