Black Magic

I started this at the backup site but thought I might as well post it here so it can actually be active XD

Rules: The usual rules apply, in particular no killing characters without the owner's permission. Also, just one character each please. You may however introduce a second if yours dies. There are fifteen spaces only so think very carefully before you join, you might be depriving another of the opportunity.

Plot: A group of friends decide to buy a magic book from an occultist shop one afternoon. They all go back to Lucifer's house to try the spells out only to discover that every bit of magic has a catch. They must now search for the seller of the book whose shop has since disappeared or else find some other way to reverse the magic.

Rating: This storybook is PG-13 which means that swearing is allowed in moderation but if you're at all unsure about what's appropriate then pm me or leave it out. Relationships may be established between characters but nothing beyond kissing and bodily exploration (I don't mind if your guy wants to squeeze a girl (or boy)'s arse but the clothes stay on.

Choose a spell from this list. No more than two people can have the same spell:

Levitation (Character can levitate but the higher they go, the more weight they lose and going back down doesn't regain the weight they have lost so every time they use the spell, they get thinner and thinner. Use it too often and the character will die. I will give you warning when you have only one more use left before death.)
Intelligence (Character gradually gains intelligence but ages at the same rate.)
Teleknesis (Character can move objects with their mind but every time they move one object, they lose the use of one limb starting with the right hand, then right arm, then right foot, then right leg, then left hand etc.)
Telepathy (Character can read others thoughts and project their own into the minds of others but every time they do this, they pick up a character flaw from the other person. It could be short temper or stupidity or any number of things. You may choose what it is but it must be one listed on the character's profile.)
Money (Character can turn anything they touch into gold or jewels. However, character turns everything they touch into gold or jewels.)
Invincibility (Character becomes invincible but is in constant pain so that even simple things such as walking are difficult.)
Love (Other character falls in love with your character. You can choose anyone and they have to agree to it [Don't join this storybook if you aren't willing to agree to this]. However, another character has sudden bursts of desire to kill you that come and go every couple of hours. This character will be chosen by me and every time they make an attempt against your life, I will roll a dice. Should it land on one, your character dies. [Again, do not join if you are not going to abide by this rule.])
Shapeshifting (Character gains the ability to change into another form but they do not get to choose this form (I do) and the more they use it, the more animal they become. After ten uses the character will be stuck as that animal. This warning is in the book so your character knows their limit.)
Empathy (Character can sense the emotions of others and can by choice pick up one of their abilities temporarily but picks up the disadvantage/ a similar one permanently. So they might get temporary 'Money' but then everything they touched would turn to dust after the spell wore off. With shapeshifting, they'd be able to turn into that animal twice and then be left with a more animalistic personality etc. If unsure ask me/ follow my lead on this one.)

Appearance: Curly, red hair and dark green eyes. Lucifer has a freckled complexion and is of a strong build with muscled torso and more than average height.
Personality: Lucifer is a mischevious and fun loving boy. Personally, he's rather fond of his new ability at first but is happy to help his friends get theirs reversed. He's a loud and friendly sort of guy who hides his darker side. Very confident. Intelligent.
Character flaws: Over confident. Sometimes selfish. Laughs at the misfortune of others. Short tempered. Not trustworthy. Can't add up, something that really grates at him because of his intelligence in most other areas. Blind in his right eye so he has to turn his head to see in that direction. He has never revealed this to his friends and though some may have noticed it's another sore spot.

We'll start from where they're looking through the book and joking around about the spells. Then we can take it from there and have each of our characters choose one of the spells to cast. They do not expect it to work so feel free to have them disapointed that they didn't take more time to choose/ read the book. Remember, only the Shapeshifter's disadvantage is noted in the book, the others are not even hinted at.

Age (between fourteen and twenty): 18
Spell: Shapeshifting.
Appearance: She is tall, willowy but imposing. She has short, layered, hair the colour of burnt sienna. She has dark blue eyes and a feline build.
Personality: She is defiant, bold, clever and risk-taking. She's also rather impulsive. She follows her own rules, and is not very tolerant. Fortunately, she doesn't follow stereotypes. Overall, she seems too tough, but once you see past that, she's pretty amiable.

Name: Bradley "Brad" Casen
Age: 17
Spell: Telepathy

Appearance: He has light, blond hair, that is never on right, always messy, really, the normal messy, is his normal. His eyes are big a blue, and always seem to be out of focus, and not paying attention, most of the time because he is, but really they just have a stuck look of confusion and dreaming. He is around five-seven, with no muscle at all, but it is not so he looks really weak, just sort of scrappy. The clothes he wears are usually light colors, blue and white mostly. His skin is Caucasian, but tanned.

Personality: He is light and bubbly. Some describe him as an idiot/air head, others as a dreamer. When you first meet him, you'll think "Idiot" or "Slow". But as you get to know him, you see past his light, warm, slow outer shell. Into a more sensitive, smart inner core. His light personality is easily broken also. He gets in content fits of rage over small things, causing him to lash out with his weapon. Alex always tries to look on the bight side though, and look to the future. People like this about him, because he always tries to spread this hope to others. But he is also lazy and a trickster, he tries to get others to his work, and people hate this about him.


Character flaws:
He has extreme ADHD. To the point he can not concentrate on anything for to long, he will forget or blow it off if he can't do it quickly.

Short temper, for certain thing. He is not always light, when he gets mad, usual from insults about him being and idiot, he will get mad, and attack, no matter who you are.

Lazy, apart from ADHD he is lazy. He whines sometimes, and tries to do the bar minimum, by giving work to others. This quality gets him on people bad sides a lot.

I claim love, this will be fun to write for.

Name: Samantha Grace Thorne (Sam)

Age: 17

Spell: Empathy

Appearance: Wavy ebony hair six inches past her shoulders with sapphire eyes. She's curvy and thin, yet masculine.

Personality: She's usually pretty bubbly, and extremely soft spoken. She's very shy at times, but when she's angry all of her friends know not to bother her.

Character flaws: She's too much of a push over, so she gives in really easily. Some say her heart's to big and that in the end she'll end up hurt, but she'll just laugh it off. When she does get very angry, however, she has to fight someone, or at least hit something. She's broken both hands, wrists, and ankles because of it. Her left wrist is currently broken due to punching a wall.

I would believe I would like to claim a spot if I am allowed.
The spell I would like to use is 'Intelligence'. I certainly have an idea for this.

His Cat Monkey

Will is tall and awkward, making him extremely clumsy. He tends to hide his black hair with a striped hat. His bright blue eyes show his kind and sensitive nature and are incredibly blue making it easy to draw people near with just one glance. His skin is really pale because he barely goes outside. Will has a small build making him seem even taller than he actually is.

He has a small black cat name Monkey, who has bright green eyes. Its claws and teeth are incredibly sharp.

Personality:
Will is a very friendly ans happy person, usually always found smiling. He has a weakness for when he sees someone sad, making him want to go to them and comfort them no matter what the circumstances are. He hates to fight and tries to keep the peace when something arises. His incredibly kind and generous, always wanting to help out with anything he could do, even though he is incredibly weak.

He tries to hide his problems, not wishing other people to feel sad and never wants to cause other people harm even if that means he must harm himself.

Will found Monkey a little while back and fed him food. Now Monkey never leaves him alone, even though he is not necessarily his cat. Monkey is very spiteful and can turn on anyone, even if you are doing no harm. But Monkey has his uses. When he senses danger, his fur stands up on end and he bars his claws. He gets extremely irritable. Will has been scraped and bit by Monkey many a time.

He is smart, but he always desires more knowledge because he was always in search of the cure for his ailment.

Character flaws:
The sad aspect about Will is that he has been fighting a servere case of leukemia all his life, going to kemo and all his appointment, trying his hardest to be saved from this deadly disease. But it traversed to far. Will gave up on his treatments, grew his hair long, and decided to live his life to the fullest, with smiles and waves to everyone, and to not let himself down. He is exceedingly weak because of his disease, and once he under goes the spell, the end of his life seemed to be coming closer and closer.

He is moderately afraid of death that's why his desire for knowledge presses him even deeper into his studies.

chinchilla: It's invincibility not invisibility XD Basically, you can't be killed at any point so you can jump off of cliffs or run at walls to try and break them down, anything. But you feel constant pain.

Appearance: She has dark brown curly hair, that go by her shoulders, and pale blue eyes. She's thin, averaged height. She usually wears jeans and tops, casual.
Personality: She's a loner. She likes to hang out with her friends, and be a normal teenager, but she even in the middle of her friends feels somewhat sad. It's like she has something missing. She's defiant and bold, and won't be afraid of taking chances for her friends.
Character flaws: Bossy, stubborn and doesn't think before she acts. She has short temper, but not when the offense is directed to herself.

Oh wow. I'd like to claim a spot for Levitation.

We'll probably start tomorrow, just give people a little more time to post bios =)

Here's my profile. Since I'm doing love and my character will almost definitely die soon after this starts when the dice
rolls against me can I write a death scene. Also since I'm up against another character will that mean that I have fights with them often?

Personality: Very kind and caring he has a dark sense of humour he is quite sarcastic and witty but also has a dumber outer layer.

Flaws: He is to trusting and sometimes a bit hot tempered but he tries to keep it in control,

jok101: Of course you can write a death scene and don't worry, the 'other' won't be able to attack you constantly. It should only occure every five to eight hours which will probably leave plenty of posts in between so you might stay alive for a while.

Could you add a third character flaw and choose who your character is going to force to love them before I pick the person who will hate them please?

Spell: Telekinesis

Appearance: 6"1 with dark brown, long, curly hair and dark brown eyes. Athletic and dresses in a 'sporty' fashion. Wears a head band and a chain with a locket around his neck.

Personality: He loves sports. Tennis is his favourite but he really doesn't mind any sports. He comes from Barcelona and speaks only a little English. His is quite shy (unless he's on the tennis court).

Character flaws (You must list at least three): He's timid. He feels alone. He's schizophrenic.

More will be revealed in the story
