Please review and rate! I want it to turn out great, so I appreciate all types of critiques...even if you're extremely mean...it's okay! This is only an introducing page...I plan on writing more.
I added a little and edited it. I hope you like it!

My life had been completely normal until the dreadful morning of my fourteenth birthday. I had lived in a normal world, well it was normal now. How could anyone live in a world that isn't normal, when they judge you by that mere fact? The high pitched beep of my alarm clock had woken me and I had searched for it on my dresser. It read three twenty seven, am. On a Saturday. I had turned the nuisance off and laid back down on my bed. I didn't sleep anymore and started to think.
I lived in a cottage, a small cottage. It was a Saturday morning, why had i woken up so early? And it hadn't felt like it was my birthday, it's only one year later.
I had waited for the realization to seep in. It was my birthday, I was a regular teenager. December 21st; four days before Christmas.
Not that Christmas was a major holiday for me. My aunt and I had lived alone in that house. We didn’t have family anywhere else in the world. And, except for Trik and Luci, I didn’t have friends. Okay, so I wasn’t that normal.
Aside from that, my aunt decided to make me less normal. She had pulled me out of my warm cotton covers and dragged me across the cottage to the freezing common room. I didn’t think anything when she carefully drew the curtains that draped every ice covered window. I simply sat on the cold, under-stuffed couch with chattering teeth.
“This is very important, Molli,” my aunt had said. I was aroused with suspicion now. She had remained staring at the covered window. Why hadn’t she turned around?
Very important. You cannot tell anyone,” she said solemnly.
“What is it, Nani?” I'd asked. She hadn't responded to her nickname. Instead, she crouched down and blessed herself. Why was this gray haired woman so anxious? I had thought.
“You’re an Ethepest,” she whispered.
At the time, I had been extremely frightened. It was illegal to be an Ethepest. Magical half-humans; Ethepests are ethereal and pestilent. The National Decree had always said they were disgusting and horrifying; the most vile and vulgar creature on the planet. But i had seen an Ethepest, about nine years before that day. She was beautiful, but her way of life wasn't accepted.
“No. Nani, no! You’re lying to me! I can’t be!” I had yelled. She turned to face me; tears were running down her cheeks like rivers.
“The National Decree came down last week. They’re suspicious,” she whispered. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you before.”
I had continued to shake my head. Thinking it would all go away if I said no. I couldn’t be an Ethepest, they are magical, and they are beautiful. I’m neither.
"I'm not magical," I had said.
"Yes, you are," Nani had said. "You got it from your mom, she was an Ethepest. She was the woman that was killed when you were five years old."
That statement only had one effect on me. My mom used to be beautiful. I didn't know my mom, so how could this really be true? I was a young girl back then; I thought i understood the sacred rules of our world. Formidauri, the greatest world in our galaxy.
No one but the National Decree knew how we had become an auspicious planet. That's what the fourteen year old me had thought. But all the remaining Ethepests knew. That brought back the question I had asked my Nani next.
"If I'm an...Ethepest, then why am I still alive?"
"The National Decree knows your mom was an Ethepest. Since you're her only child, that means the traits might have manifested themselves into you."
"That doesn't answer my question, Nani," I had persisted.
"The magic is passed down to only one child. From that child, it passes on to only one of their children and so on. Sometimes, the traits are too weak. They don't function properly in the child and the chain just stops. The ND is only suspicious. They don't know magic is running in your veins."
"And how do you know that?" I'd questioned. I can still remember the way she had sighed heavily and knelt in front of me. I'd waited patiently when Nani had pulled out a small mirror from her coat pocket and held it up to my face.
"Look in the mirror. What color are your eyes?" she had asked. I had stared at my reflection.
"Brown," I'd answered.
"Now, close your eyes. Think of your eyes being a color other than brown."
I did as she ordered. I imagined the color aqua. The color of the sea, bubbles; the color of clean.
"Open your eyes."
My eyes had no longer been the warm brown I'd learn to live with. Instead, they had transformed into a glowing shade of aqua. My first reaction was fear. A small scream had escaped my lips before I had snatched the mirror from Nani's hand and brought it closer to my new eyes. The glowing had begun to subside, but the vivid color had remained. My shaking hands had been gripping the tiny mirror in a tight vise, until I heard a loud crack. I had then been holding two pieces of mirror.
Nani had taken the shattered remains of her mirror and pocketed them. I had run back to my room. The door had slammed against my brick wall when I threw it open. From the common room, I'd heard Nani call out, "Molli, where did you go? Molli?"
I hadn't responded to her, I had been busy studying my abnormal eyes. There had been no trace of the soft brown I'd had before.
My second reaction was interest. Intrigued by the fact that I could change the color of my eyes, I'd started to think of different colors.
First, I'd thought of green. Moments later, my eyes were a lovely shade of forest green. I continued like that until I ran out of colors. I'd let my eyes go back to their original color to keep my sanity intact.
An idea had passed by me that made me grab a lock of my black hair. I remember my surprise when my hair turned blue at my touch.
A knock at the door interrupted my fascinating discovery. I quickly tried to reverse my hair color and made it blonde. This happened several times with different colors until I got it back to midnight black. I had no doubt that I was an Ethepest. But I couldn't tell anybody.
My secret was put the test seconds later when Trik and Luci entered my room with a small cupcake. It had been stabbed with a lit candle. I'd completely forgotten that that day was my birthday. I smiled as they started singing the appreciation song. When they finished, I had looked down at the cupcake and blew out the candle. I lifted my head and both Trik and Luci gasped.
"Your eyes! One of them is brown and the other is blue!" Luci had exclaimed.
I remember that day. My Nani had yelled at me for over an hour, telling me to never make a mistake like that one ever again. I smiled as I jumped off the tree I had been sitting on. Nobody was around so I proceeded to the pond. My reflection smiled back at me. It's been three years. I blinked and my eyes shone like a rainbow. I laughed again. I'm an Ethepest.

Hello DiaNe. :)

My life had been completely normal until the dreadful morning of my fourteenth birthday. The high pitched beep of my alarm clock woke me and I had searched for it on my dresser. It read three twenty seven, am. On a Saturday. I turned the nuisance off and laid back down on my bed. I couldn’t sleep anymore and started to think.
I had waited for the realization to seep in. It was my birthday, I was a regular teenager. December 21st; four days before Christmas.

This sounds a little disjointed to me when I read it. I like the last sentence though; gives a cool feeling before the warm Christmas feeling. :)

And, except for Trik and Luci, I didn’t have friends. Okay, so I wasn’t that normal.

Be careful with this. It tends to happen a lot; a person with nothing ends up saving the world. Make sure she has something/someone she cares very much about. This will make her character pop, make her more lively. I mean, does she have hobbies, bad habits, etc. :)

To make matters worse, my aunt decided that it was the best time to pass down a family secret.

You can omit the first sentence to ad a little suspense and mystery to your piece. The first sentence tells us what's going to happen, and steals the thunder of what Nani says. Do you see what I mean?

At the time, I had been extremely frightened. It was illegal to be an Ethepest. Magical half-humans; Ethepests are ethereal and pestilent. Disgusting and horrifying; the most vile and vulgar creature on the planet.
“No. Nani, no! You’re lying to me! I can’t!” I had yelled. She turned to face me; tears were running down her cheeks like rivers.

Nice dramatization. I like the description you gave of the ethepests.

I had continued to shake my head. Thinking it would all go away if I said no. I couldn’t be an Ethepest, they are magical, and they are beautiful. I’m neither.

This doesn't go as well with your description before; try mixing them up, as if she hears mixed things about them. :) I would say something about her saying "I can't," but then, people don't always make sense when they're upset. ;)

I like your work. It's interesting, really grabbed me when I read it. The only thing I noticed was switching from past tense to present. You have to pick between the two. ;) Other suggestions... you can lengthen out the opening a bit; does Molli notice anything unusual? Is everything just too normal/too perfect for some reason? Just give a few more details and descriptions, and I think you'll be good. :D If you need anything, feel free to PM me. :)

Hiya! Welcome to YWS!

So, despite my first impressions from your author's note (YWSers tend to be sticklers for capitalization, just so you know), this was pretty good as a start.

Expansion: In your opening paragraph you mention she thinks about stuff. Explain what she's thinking about. You mention that she's glad she's "normal," why? Why is that important to her?

The description of an Ethepest is also rather vague and could use some expanding upon. You mention them as "Ethepests are ethereal and pestilent. Disgusting and horrifying; the most vile and vulgar creature on the planet," you don't actually tell us much. How are they horrifying? What caused them to get that reputation? Later on you mention they're beautiful. How can they be both horrifying and beautiful at the same time?

The "national decree" thing got me wondering also. Had the government been watching their house? What changes in her life could have come from her aunt trying to hide the fact she's an Ethepest?

Tense: Your switching between past and present tense here (past tense is the majority, but when you talk about Ethepests it goes to present tense). Pick one tense and stick to it. :D

Overall: This segment was a bit vague, but the bones of plot, description and your style are there and in strong shape. Please continue this!

Questions? PM me.

Wow. This was a really good teaser. I am looking froward to seeing the progression of this story. Just a few errors i saw.

My aunt and I were alone in that house; we didn’t have family anywhere else in the world. And, except for Trik and Luci, I didn’t have friends.

You might wasnt to reword this. It just doesn't flow very well. Try it this way.

My aunt and i were alone lived in the house alone. We didn't have any family in teh world and my only friends were Trik and Luci.

That says the same thing but just flows a little better.

She had stayed staring at the covered window. Why hadn’t she turned around?

Just a little thing with this bit. Stayed isn't the best word for here. Try remained of was still.

“No. Nani, no! You’re lying to me! I can’t!” I had yelled.

Last thing. When she says I can't in this part it is missing a verb. It would make sense if you said I can't be.

Other than those litle things I thought it was an excellent beggining. Keep going and i will keep reading it. :)
