Name: Gabriel Addington

Age: 29

Personality: Gabriel, on the outside, looks as charming and innocent as can be. But inside, he's the exact opposite. His heart is said to be as black as coal and his cunning and intelligent nature only feeds the back fire. Often, he has been called insane by those who know him well enough, but he hides that side of him well. If you're a stranger to him, he has the ability to act as his outward nature would suggest; calm, charming and full of strong spirit. But once he has you alone he discards his mask to let his true self show. He's ruthless, greedy, unpredictable and corrupted. He thrives on power and fear.

Appearance: Picture. Gabriel has shaggy dark blond hair and blue-gray eyes. He stands approximately 6 feet and has a slim build with lightly tanned skin. When he wants, he can look charming and innocent, but most of the time there's a scowl on his face. His clothing is often whatever he wants to wear or what he picks up first. He doesn't care much about his physical appearance.

History: Gabriel was born in Miami, Florida and grew up there until he was nine. Then, his family packed up and decided to begin to travel around the country on a road trip for fun. They were well off, his father having been a successful lawyer, and weren't worried about money at all. Gabriel had two older sisters, Annie and Meridith, who were constantly teasing him or taunting him about one thing or another. His nights were often spent in some random motel off the highway in whatever town they happened to end up in. And his days were spent mostly in the car, watching the world fly past.

Then, when Gabriel was seventeen, his family stopped to see a circus. They had been on the road all day and were tired and looking for some form of entertainment other than the boring shows that were bound to be playing on TV that night or worse, simply static. So they stopped to see the show. Instantly Gabriel was mesmerized by the tricks and feats displayed by the performers. And so, as soon as he was eighteen, he left his parents and went back to the circus with intentions of joining. But he was turned down because of a lack of talent and the fact that the circus didn't really need anyone else.

Ever since, Gabriel has been roaming around, keeping close to the town the circus was housed in. When he heard the news about the owner to the circus dying, he set out immediately to fill that role, secretly plotting to make their lives as miserable as they had made his.

Talents: Gabriel has the ability to lie incredibly easily. He's good at putting on a 'mask' and hiding the real him to get his way or fool someone. He is also good at telling when someone else is lying to him.

What They Do In The Show: He's the manager and owner of the circus, as well as ticket master come showtime.

Other: Gabriel is ambidextrous. He's up for love, but he's harsh and not easy to get close to. He tries to distance himself from others as best he can.
Be the cartoon heart. Light a fire, light a spark. Light a fire, flame in my heart. We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark.

Well, I think that we have enough people to start. I also want to add that if you want to make a second character, that's cool too. I'll probably do the same thing later on. Oh, and if you are just now seeing this and we already started, don't hesitate to join. The circus needs a lot of people to function properly.

*Emily*

The first thing that we did when we reached the small town of Dunkirk was dig a fire pit. Yep, that is one of the first things you do. Where else are you going to make your food and gather after a long show. The second thing you do is pitch the tent.

As I looked around, I couldn't help but love what I do. Everyone was bustling around, preparing for the show tonight that all of the surrounding towns would be coming out to see. Our animal trainers were controlling the elephants, who were helping pitch the tents. Our tent was pretty big, and all of the men were holding on with ropes and helping out. The women and children were getting everything unpacked. I was carrying a box full of lights over to the designated spot. From there, the crew would take over and set everything up. It was six in the morning, and there were already people out watching us. They were in awe of seeing the elephants and different animals that they were seeing. They were watching as everyone assembled things. Everyone was out helping, except for... dammit, Reana!

I put the lights down and went over to the wagon where she holed herself up and knocked. "Reana? Reana, I know you're in there. You need to come out. We need your help!"

"I don't want to come out yet!" she called back.

I sighed. I felt bad for her. She was what everyone would consider a freak, what with her being an albino, blue eyed Chinese girl. She liked to be be alone and wallow in self pity. She'd been doing it a lot more since Dad died.

"well, I guess I'll come and get you when it's time for you to set up your act." I said, walking away. The boys had the tent set up and now everyone was rushing in to set up their acts. I walked over to the menagerie hoping to find Danielle. I did. She was with one of our tigers, Wrath, and as always, Ninja was on her shoulder. She smiled when she saw me. "Hey, Em, are we ready to let the animals out yet?"

"Not quite." I replied. "They're taking in the seats right now. After they do that, you should be able to go in and practice."

"Well, I wanted to let the kids take ride on Bert and Liza this time around." Bert and Liza were two of our three elephants.

"That sounds like a good idea." I said with a smile. Dani was always coming up with ideas to let the kids have a good time.

She nodded and went back to tending to Wrath.

Three hours later, I was in the tent setting up for my act. My act involved a harness and some aerial stunts. When I introduced everyone, I would jump up and catch one of the trapeze bars and it would be mass chaos while eyeorne comes out and stuns the crowd. It was gonna be awesome.

As I was testing to microphone that was hooked up to me, I saw a ball of white fluff being chased through the tent. I chuckled. Radu and Marshmallow were at it again.

I went over and scooped Marshmallow up, much to Radu's chagrin. As I walked to the entrance, I saw Cari run in, obviously looking for him. When she saw me with him, she looked very relieved. "Thanks, E." she said, gingerly taking him from me. "I was afraid that Radu had finally got him."

"Nope." I said laughing.

She said thanks once again and left, no doubt going to get her silks to set them up. When I had gotten my job done and tested, I went back to the dressing wagon to get ready. It was an hour until the show. The wagon was packed with performers in their bright costumes and wildly made up faces. I went over to the rack and picked up my costume. When I got it on, I went to the make up counter. The only other one over there was Georgie, our tight roper. "Hey, Georgie." I said, sitting down.

"Hey." she said, concentrating on her makeup.

"Ready for tonight?" I asked after several minutes of silence.

"Yeah, kind of nervous though." she said. "I'm always kind of nervous."

"Oh, that's not nervousness, it's adrenaline you feel." I said laughing. "That's the thing that gives us butterflies in our stomachs, minutes before we go out and risk life and limb, all for the enjoyment of others."

"You're silly, Em." she said with a laugh. "Well, I had better go."

I finished five minutes later and walked out of the wagon, only to run into someone. "Oh, I'm so sorry." I said. "I didn't mean- oh, it's you." I looked into Gabriel's blue gray eyes.

"You wound me." he said, holding a large hand over his heart. As I started to walk away, he put that hand on my shoulder. "You didn't bring me my dinner, Emily."

"I've been kind of busy." I said sarcastically, shrugging his hand off. "I have to actually work, unlike you."

"you think I don't work?" he sneered, getting closer to me.

I opened my mouth to reply, but the bell rang, telling all of us that we needed to get to our places. The show was going to begin in fifteen minutes. "Sorry, I have to go." I said, running away. I ran into the back door where my friend and techie Anton was waiting for me.

As he hooked me up to the guy lines, he talked to me about what I was to do. "Remember to go to the center of the ring. I taped a small x so you know exactly where to stand. I'll lower your mic, and then we'll start the music."

"Okay." I said as he finished up. "What song is it tonight?"

"Ladies and Gentlemen." he replied before running out. I said a quick prayer as I heard the buzz of voices stop as the lights went down.

The show was now beginning.

I think it would make things easier if someone posted what order our acts are. Emily goes first...could I(Drina) go second?

*I'm creating another character so I have someone who can interact easily with the others.*

Name: "Doc" O'Shea (No one knows his first name, which is Riley)

Age: 24

Personality: Doc is a very patient, tolerant person. He's outgoing and fun, but has a serious streak to him that helps him focus. He's kind and caring towards most others and would do just about anything for those he loves. He has a good sense of humor and can stay calm in most any situation. He is charming, charismatic, intelligent and friendly. He's openly curious about most things and doesn't try to hide his emotions. He's a good judge of people and it takes a while to gain his complete trust.

Appearance: Picture. Doc has short, shaggy, nondescript brown hair and bright blue eyes. He is tall and lanky with lightly tanned skin and kind facial features. His normal clothing when he's not performing is usually loose, comfortable and casual.

History: Doc was born Riley O'Shea in London to a watchmaker and his wife. His childhood was boring and 'nothing special' he says, and he rarely talks about it. His father sent him to medical school to become a doctor, but Riley wanted to be a performer instead, but his father wouldn't listen. When he was twenty, a circus came to town and a friend of his dragged him along to the show. Riley was captivated by the sights and sounds, and quickly decided to quit school and join the circus. His father was furious with his choice and insisted against it, and so Riley never told anyone at the circus his real name, instead simply going by Doc. Which fits him, as he acts as a personal doctor if anyone in the circus becomes ill or is injured.

Talents: Doc is a skilled juggler and has a slight knowledge of medicine and healing. He's also a good judge of people and is good at reading emotions.

What They Do In The Show: He's a juggler and occasionally a clown, but he doesn't actually perform in the show. Instead, he entertains on the sidelines and walks around the circus before and after shows. He's also the 'unofficial' doctor for the circus if anyone has a minor injury or becomes sick.

Other: He's up for love, but please ask me first.
Be the cartoon heart. Light a fire, light a spark. Light a fire, flame in my heart. We'll run wild, we'll be glowing in the dark.

Drina~

"What song is it tonight?" I heard Emily ask Anton.

"Ladies and Gentlemen." he replied before running out. She said a quick prayer and the lights were dimmed.

"Good luck."I whispered to her as she passed and she barely even glanced at me. Okay so I could see where we had our differences. I didn't think Gabriel was all that bad and she saw him as the nightmare before and after Christmas, yet he always seemed interested in Emily. Of course he was older but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Well not in my opinion. But because of that one opinion I shared one night by the fire pit after a tiring day, a lot of people here stopped talking to me.

I watched from behind the curtain as Emily bowed as her name was called and was immediately hooked into a harness. Here we go. I shook my shoulders and checked my outfit to make sure everything was in place. It was. My act was all set up. A little stage within the ring of the circus with a chair and a single magic crystal ball in the center of it.

The spotlight turned on and Emily was the only one visible. Anton and others were slowly hawling her up by strings, but they stayed behind the curtain, out of view.

*Hope that's okay*

I heard a "Good luck" being spoken, but I couldn't turn and say thanks. The curtain was open and I had to go.

I walked into the center of the ring, feeling the harness pull me slightly, but I kept walking until I could see the x that Anton had put out for me.

I heard the beginning of Saliva's Ladies and Gentlemen start to play as the lights went up. The hit the hard part as I started to sing the words. "Ladies and gentlemen please, would you bring your attention to me. For a feast for your eyes to see, an explosion of catastrophe. Like nothing you've ever seen before, watch closely as I open this door. Your jaws will be on the floor. After this you'll be begging for more."

I looked around seductively, and tipped my top hat as the little chorus came on "Welcome to the show. Please come inside

Right before the real chorus came on, I shouted for all to hear "Welcome to the Black Rose Circus!"

I jumped into the air as every one of our performers poured out of the backdoor. I caught the trapeze and smiled when I heard the oohs and ahhs of the audience. We had a straw house tonight, with all of the seats filled and then some. I flipped around the trapeze bar and sat on it, above all of the chaos around me. The chorus came to an end and Anton turned it down so I could be heard over the music. "Ladies and gentlemen, come one, come all, and witness the best circus that you will ever come to see."

After I gave that little monologue, I flipped over, holding on by one leg and holding my arms out to the audience. I heard a few ladies scream. I put on my best smile. As everyone filed out as the song ended, I flipped back over to sit.

"Ladies and gents, I now give you, the exotic, mysterious, Madame Drina"

Drina~

"Ladies and gents, I now give you, the exotic, mysterious, Madame Drina"Emily cooed as the spotlight dimmed from her and onto me as I entered. Waving and smiling I stood before taking my seat. It was time for me to hack into my freak side. It didn't bother me like it would've Raena.

"Thank you, thank you." I started, trying to quiet the crowd so I could begin,"Take a breath, hold on tight to your loved ones, and prepare to speak with those beyond our world." I heard oohs and aws, the usual. The spotlight flicked off, an eerie tune played for a second, and a suspenseful green ghoulish light filled the circus tent. I slipped into my seat slowly, adding dramatic affect.

"For this next part, brave audience, I'll need a volunteer. Someone whom wishes to contact..."I paused, enjoying the silence,"the dead" Someone gasped and a man in the front cautiously raised his hand. "You." I pointed and he was helped to the seat across from me, the crystal ball between us.

He sat down, visibly shaking. I smiled mysteriously. "What's your name, fine Gent?"

"Ben,"He replied,"I'd like to contact my.....my fiance. She died two years ago i-in an accident." He said staring at the crystal ball. This was just about the time the special effects were to start. I was right. Almost immediately after he was done speaking, the fog machine began and the green light was replace with blue while the crystal ball glowed red.

"Take a breath, Ben,"I ordered,"Now prepare to be amazed..." My voice echoed as I focused all my energy on the door in the back of my mind. It was something I could only do, out of all the freaks at the circus. "What's your fiance's name, Ben?" I asked, already becoming distant, leaving my body to enter the spiritual world.

"Karen," I heard him answer from miles away. My eyes were closed and I mentally reached a hand out for the door, twisting the image of a doorknob, in my head. It flew open, darkness flooded the other side as I stepped through. I was gone. Fully immersed in the spiritual world now.

Karen? This is Madame Drina. Is there a Karen here, preferably one with a fiance name Ben? I asked mentally, knowing a spirit would hear. There was silence for a moment than a shift in the darkness and a glowing orb appeared.

Ben? You know my Ben? A voice came from the orb, female, and full of confusion.

Yes, Karen. I'm here with him and he would like to speak with you. I spoke. The orb hovered up and down for a second as if nodding.

I should like that very much, Madame Drina. There was a hint of relief clear in the voice. I nodded.

Then we shall begin.... I stepped forward and reached my hand out. Touching the floating orb of light and was engulfed by the familiar blast of white.

* * * * *

I came back to my body with a gasp. Sweat drenched my body and I clutched the crystal ball in front of me, still gasping. It was all the usual, right when I touched the spirit they took over and I never remembered what they said when in contol of my body. Ben sat across from me crying and the audience sat in aw. One person clapped until everyone was clapping and cheering.

I took a breath and steadied myself as I stood and accpeted the aplauds.

*Sorry. It's rushed, I know*

I grinned to myself, glancing out into the ring where Emily was working the crowd up with the same ease that the techies and I were able to exercise over the machines. Everything was running with perfect smoothness. The fog machines and the lighting had required a bit more effort, but then, Drina's act was always a little tougher than the others. We always had to keep an eye on her body while she was possessed, make sure the spirit didn't try to stay in or anything. It hadn't happened yet, but still, it was an eerie prospect.

I cued some more light-hearted music from one of the other technicians, and then started checking the guy wires and all the many supports and harnesses used to make sure Georgie would be able to survive a fall. It was still dangerous, and there was no way they'd ever be getting me to go up there and do her act, but it only looked like it could be fatal. Gabriel, for all his apparent heartlessness, didn't seem keen on risking the lives of the people who earned him his money.

Once I felt sure that each wire was well secured, I reversed my path, checking that the fireworks for this show wouldn't shoot off into the crowd, or worse, up to hit Georgie. Then I returned to my post with the other techies, taking a detonator from one of the others, ready to start adding a few minor punches to her act in order to awe the crowd just that little bit extra.

I heard Emily introduce me. I was already standing on the line. The line was about four and a half meters tall.
First I started with just balance over to the other side. Both of my arms were holding out on each side.
On the way back I did a little bit more action. I walked back on my hands. The third time I took a somersault. When I did I heard the audience hold their breath.
I’d never fall down, but I dread for that to come. One time have to be the first.
Then it was time for me to juggle. I went down to pick up the four small balls at first.
After doing some juggling with them I went on with two more balls.
My act was almost finished and I let the balls fall down. Then I walked on my hands to the ladder and walked down. I turned a whirl forward and then I bow for the audience, first to my left. Then I ran over to the other side, and bow for the audience there too, and they clapped for me.
My act was finished, so I ran out. It went well this time too. No fall downs, no damage happen.

Drina~

I bustled behind the curtains after my act was finished. Geogie was introduced and smiled to the audience before she began. My act was already being cleaned up and a rag was given to me by one of the techies.

"Thanks,"I said grateful and dabbed my sweaty face. I was still a bit shaken from the experience as usual. Some people congradulated me as I walked by or told me how good I was, it was really only about four people.

I could hear the music play for Georgie and some fireworks went off. My feet hurt as I walked into the changing tent right behind this one. It was time to take off the costume of Madame Drina and just be normal eighteen year old Drina.

I was finishing off my make-up. I always went for the wicked, exotic look. After all, I was the animal tamer. I loved the animals. I always have. Most people think that animals tamers are really cruel to the beasts. I'm not. I just have this bond to them. They just seem to follow me.

"Nice act," Maxima, I commented. She was always good. She smiled, dabbing her forehead.

"Thanks." I nodded. Almost done, I thought. Good, my act was coming up. There was Georgie, Danny, and Leon, then me. I sighed and got up. I was going to the animals fr a minute. I awlways did before the show. It was basically a routine. They didn't mind andneither did I.

As Georgie left, the spotlight switched to me once again. Fifty feet below me, Dani and the other animal tamers were taking their things out quickly,

"Wasn't that amazing?" I asked, cupping my hand around my ear theatrically. The crowd thought it was. I was glad that we had an enthusiastic crowd tonight. It always made it more fun.

"Well, I have a question for you all." I said and the crowd fell silent instantly. "How many of you like animals?"

Cheers went up. "How many of you like tigers?" The shouts dwindled a little bit. "What would you do if you could talk to a wild beast?"

It was silent once again, with nervous rustling through the tent. "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, the fabulous mistress of the beasts, Dani Tash, and her menagerie of wild things!"
