For our final animation assignment this semester we have to tell a small story. We can do anything we want, but within certain restrictions. We can only use one character in the scene, the character has to interact with an object(s), and it has to be 5 to 7 seconds long. In this assignment we have to include a storyboard, since we're animating more than just a simple action like my last two assignments(Standing Long Jump, Walk Cycle). I finished the storyboard a week ago so I could take a break from this class to finish up all my other assignments and take a breather. (Breather = 24-hour gaming frenzy)

So, here's my storyboard. I'm working on the flipbook right now to figure out the timing and flow. I'll post it once I've got it finished.

Dynamo! Hey! June here!

Well, this is so cool!

I love how you post your projects for all of us to see. Quite wonderful of you to do that, because we can learn alot from them, and see how much it takes to actually animate stuff and create matte paintings and such. These things take a lot of effort-- and even though it's for school or whatnot, the patience you have for them is something a lot of us don't have. :P

I love how we can see the guy's frustration building. :P Funny how you say a breather for you is 24 hours of gaming, haha.

Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing the finished project! (and I'll be back to dish my opinions on it. =D)

June ;)

Thanks. And you're right when you say it takes a lot of patience to pull this stuff off. It's even moreso for me, since I have ADHD. Sometimes I can't even work for an hour before something distracts me and I end up playing video games for the rest of the night. But over the years I've learned to use my disability to my advantage. If the conditions are right, I can hyperfocus on whatever it is I'm doing and work for hours on end. For example, two weekends ago I needed to finish a big assignment that was due on Monday, so I ended up working five and a half hours straight on Saturday, and thirteen hours straight on Sunday.

But enough about that. I finished my flipbook this morning. Overall, I'm pleased with the timing. I'm going to start working on the 3D portion of it this afternoon. Since this is the last project I have left to finish I've got more time to work on it, since all my other ones are finished.

Hi again, Dynamo!

This is great! The timing of the frames was perfect and the movement of the character was fluid. Very nice job with this. Oddly addicting too; these little sketch animations somehow make me want to play them over and over, haha.

Totally awesome. :D Keep up the great work! Can't wait to see the 3-D version of this. :P

Oh my gosh, those pictures are so cool. I really want to see them animated. That would be amusing. I like the idea and overall they look really nice. You're a really good artist. (I don't pay compliments like that often, be proud.)

I like how you've managed to get each guy looking the same. Although there may be too much of a space between the action in square 5-6. You may want to add one square that shows the sequence in the middle, so that it won't seem too choppy if you know what I mean.

That's it. Again, good job, very nice.

Thanks again you guys. Here's the next part of my animation. I'm just a few hours away from finishing the rest of it, which is good since it's due tomorrow.

I wanted to make the controler break into tiny bits when the guy stomped on it, because that would have been frickin sweet, but due to technical issues whenever I tried to seporate the shapes of the object all its frames get deleted, meaning I would have to animate it all over again. Oh well, guess I'll just have to settle with what I have.

Hey Dynamo! June here (again) :P.

I love the final product. Despite the fact that the sketches demonstrate the controller being broken into bits, I would say that the final project is more realistic.

To be honest, even though a gamer would be ultimately frustrated, it would take a lot of anger and force to shatter a remote into tiny, tiny bits. So, this is good. :D Even if you were to heavily step on a controller, it probably would just smash-- and, it can also show that this gamer remembers that he will want to try again or how expensive the remote is or something and not want to crush it all the way. :P

So, good work on that. It's a very wonderful animation. :D You have some really amazing patience, dude. :P

Here's my final render:

Image

You can probably notice that the one before this one is a little fast. The required fps(frames per second) for this assignment is 24. In After Effects the default is 30. I just figure out how to change it about five minutes ago, so this one will run at the right speed.

A quick heads up, when the video first plays on photobucket it'll skip the first second. Just play it again and it'll run fine.
