The Devils Revenge

A Man Accused

"What have I done?" wondered the prince aloud. It had been a year since the prince had killed the Goblin and five days since he returned from his quest for the sword. The prince Genson was now 19 and an enlistment in the Royal Army. He commanded an elite squad of 150 soldiers.
But that was before Pandora's Box was opened. There were thousand of Goblins now. Spreading and growing like a virus, killing everything in its path. Whole towns were wiped out by the Goblins terrible longing for human suffering.
It was a terrible time to be alive. No peaceful trader could rule out the possibility of a Goblin attack. The prince believed that there was almost no way to end the turmoil. The prince was leaning against the castle wall chewing on a piece of grass thinking this to himself when all of the sudden there was a BANG! and several screams and moans.
The prince rushed to see what was going on. He arrived just in time to see the Royal Guards dragging a man with torn clothes into the castle. The prince hurried in, crossed the courtyard, passed the kitchen with its tantalizing smells, and then stopped at the heavy oak doors outside the Throne Room.
The two guards on both sides bowed to him then opened the door. Mentally bracing himself he strode into the room. There he saw the man in a heap bowing before the king. He heard his father say, "What are the charges?"
The kings advisor, Gosim, unrolled a scroll and read, "Witchcraft. Your Highness."
"Hmmm. What do you have to say for yourself?" asked the King.
"Oh King. I was simply trying to end this terrible plague that has besieged us!" The mans voice was hoarse and wispy.
"But still!" cried the King, "You participated in that horrible sin and the penalty is death! Arrest him!" The guards marched forward, grabbed the man around the arms, pulled him to his feet, and marched him out of the room.
"Ah. Genson." said the King. Genson walked briskly to his fathers side and knelt by the King's feet. "What did you find out about Galen-Hiem? " the King asked.
"I found that it was a large group of Goblins that where well known in Witchcraft. The city was burned to the ground. Speaking of Witchcraft, what was that all about a few second ago?" asked the prince.
"Well the man claims he can transport himself anywhere and was trying to go to the Goblins main encampment. We caught him in the act and will be burned. But don't let that worry you. The blacksmith has finished your helm. Go see to it."

The Helm

The prince walked out of the Throne room and crossed the courtyard to the armory. He went thru the door and crossed to another door which opened to a large smithy. In the dark room he could make out the large forge with glowing coal in it.
A large, burly, man was fanning the fire. Grabbing a pair of tongs, he quickly drew a long piece of red-hot metal out of the glowing coal. The man's soot-blackened face persperated heavily as he grabbed a hammer on his move to the anvil. He began to pound on the metal. Sparks flew everywhere. When the metal no longer glowed bright red, the man took the metal to the coal and slid it in. He began to blow the bellows when he saw Genson in the corner watching his work.
"Ah yur' Highness!" he exclaimed. He bowed low then Genson spoke,
"Rise Lakam. You know I will have none bow to me." The two shared a hearty handshake and Genson said, "That's better."
" Ay. And it's better on me back!" agreed Lakam. The prince chuckled.
" Yur helm be in the cloth bag over there." pointed Lakam. The prince strode over to the corner and opened the bag. He drew out the round object in the center. The helm was perfect. The iron was shaped into a bucket helmet. Two brass strips decorated the helm. One ran down the center vertically, while another ran horizontally under the eye rectangles forming a solid brass cross.
Genson lifted the helm and put it on his head. It fit snugly. Then all the sudden he felt a soft blow on the back of his head. A loud ringing filled his ears. Instinctively he turned around, ready to defend himself against the unseen assailant . He saw Lakam holding up his hammer and grinning like a fox.
" Ya, if we hear that in battle wull' know who just died." Lakam laughed. Genson started out the door. As he passed Lakam he gave the blacksmith a good smack on the stomach and said "Yeah, if we hear that we'll know who's been sneaking second helpings!"
Genson ran out before Lakam could say anything.

A Blessing and A Promise

Immediately after the chat with Lakam, Genson headed straight to the chapel. As he strode in he saw Father Lawrence kneeling at the alter. The prince waited in the corner silently until he saw Father Lawrence rise.
"Father Lawrence. I have come to have you bless my helm." The Father took the helm, rested his hands on it and prayed, "O object of protection. Forever protect your master. Let none, blade or stone, destroy him. You are the last defense. Serve him well."
"Thank you Father."
"May God protect you." replied Father Lawrence. Genson strode out of the room silently. He crossed the courtyard and headed to the stables. He saddled his white horse, Lightning, and rode out of the castle. He rode quickly to the village. There he saw the Manor House. He silently covered himself with a cloak so no one recognized him.
He knocked on the door and a large woman answered. "Yes?" she asked him.
" Is your daughter Lisa home?" asked Genson
"Of course." replied the woman. The door shut softly. A few seconds later the door was opened and the most beautiful woman stepped out.
Her hair was a gorgeous color of copper. Her eyes shone as green as emeralds. She was slim and fair. She wore a yellow dress with lace as the sleeves.
"Genson!" she exclaimed. She leapt forward into his arms and kissed the prince. Hand in hand, they walked together toward the garden. Soon they found a large weeping willow that they sat under. Genson told Lisa all that had happened since he had last seen her. Lisa leaned on the prince's shoulder. Suddenly the prince felt an urging to ask Lisa something.
"Lisa?" asked the prince.
"Yes?" she replied.
" I am now 19, almost 20 and I am the right age to marry. I need to choose a bride before my parents force me into an arrangement. So I was wondering.... If you would be mine."
Lisa's face turned white and she looked toward the ground. " You are the exact woman I have dreamed of marrying. I love you. I want to spend my life with you." Genson continued. Lisa looked up and a smile crept across her lips.
"Yes, Genson. I will." She leaned over and kissed him.
" Of course I will need your fathers permission but he'll let us. I'm sure he'll give it." said Genson. He kissed Lisa softly on the lips and they stood up.
They walked slowly back toward her home discussing plans. Silently Lisa opened her homes door and led him inside. The interior was dark, lit by a fire and the natural sunshine. There Genson saw Lisa's mother sitting before the fire.
" Hello mother." said Lisa. " Mother, this is my true love." Genson swept back the hood of the cloak. Recognition filled the woman's eyes.
" Milord" she said beginning to bow.
" Please don't bow to me." said the prince. With a puzzled expression Lisa's mother straightened.
"Mother," started Lisa, " Genson and I have been courting for one-and-a-half years and we have made a decision. We are to be wed." said Lisa. Lisa's mothers hands flew straight over her mouth.
Genson could tell that Lisa's mother was very surprised by Lisa's unexpected news.
" Well ya have miblessing if that be what yur' askin' for. By the way. Minames Hellen." she replied in her rough Irish accent to Genson. "Dear me! Wull have to make plans! What shall ya wear? What shall we have? Plans to make in so little time! This couldn't have come at a better time? Get yur' arse off the ground and start cleanin'!" she yelled at a small boy by her.
Hellen embraced Lisa and then started to pace around muttering to herself. Genson gave a sigh of relief. He stood up silently and motioned over to Lisa. Hand in hand they walked outside. Outside the door, Genson pulled his cloaks' hood over his head. Lisa looked at him and he could tell that she was near bursting with joy. "
Well that went well." Genson said. Lisa smiled then kissed him. " Well, I'm off to the castle." Genson said.
" Go my love and return to me swiftly." Lisa replied formally.

The Call to Arms

Genson mounted Lightning then rode off towards the castle at a swift gallop. He turned possession of Lightning over to Eric, the stable boy, and headed to the Throne room. He removed his cloak and he opened the door and slowly strolled in. He saw his father sitting on the throne.
The man he saw earlier was standing before the king with irons around his hands. He heard his father say, " You requested an audience before me?" Apparently this meeting had just begun.
The sorcerer rasped, " Oh great King! Let me help to end your kingdoms suffering! I will go to the very bowels of the earth and kill thine enemies! Oh let me prove myself as an ally!"
The king stood in quickly and called, " Guards! Guards! You shall never again come before me wizard! Seize him!" The man's eyes began to blaze with dark, evil furry. The guards marched into the room, axes ready.
The man was dragged to his feet and pushed out of the room. Genson strode toward his father and kneeled as before. " Yes, my son?" Asked the King.
" Father, I have wonderful news. I have been—"
" GOBLIN'S!"
The Advisor Gosim charged into the room.
" A large army of goblins advance from the north! At least 10,000 of them!"
" Gosim, sound the call to arms. Genson, follow me." the King said. They charged out of the Throne Room and headed straight to the Armory. Genson first pulled on his padded leather undergarments. Then he snapped on his shin protectors. He then snapped on his metal torso and thigh plates. He then pulled on his elbow cups then the metal bracers and slid on his gauntlets. He grabbed his sword and belted it to his side. He slid the sword halfway out of the sheath. The hand- and- a- half silver sword glittered in the dim light. He could barely make out the name Rakong on it. He shoved the sword back into the sheath and picked up his shield. The shield had the family's crest on it. In the upper left hand corner, with a green background, an arm held a lily blossom to symbolize chivalry. On the upper right hand corner, two swords crossed symbolizing strength. On the lower left hand corner, a dragon reared on two feet with its snake-like tongue flailing out of its mouth, symbolizing wisdom. On the lower right hand, a blue background was painted. A white X crossed thru the blue background, symbolizing unity. On the top left hand corner, a notch was cut, easily allowing a lance or spear to rest upon it. The final thing he pulled on was his new helm.
He strode out of the armory and headed toward the stables. He found Lightning already saddled, and mounted the horse. He took a deep breath then took of toward the East Gates. The gates were opened and Genson gazed toward the large field that gradually melted into the forest. Already, Genson could already tell that they would be outnumbered. Only about 3000 of the army was there. His whole battalion was there, though. He quickly headed to the command tent. He dismounted Lightning, tied him up, and entered the tent.
There he saw his father and Gosim standing over an un-rolled map spread on a table. Another man stood by the map. Genson recognized the man as Aubrey McClure. He was the main commander in charge of the kings army and also Lisa's father.
"Sire." acknowledged Aubrey.
"What is the situation father?" asked Genson.
" The goblins were seen in this area." the king said, pointing to a large clearing north of the camp.
" How long till they arrive?" asked Genson
" An hour or two." the king answered. "Aubrey. Prepare the main army."
" Yes, your Majesty." Aubrey answered. He left the tent.
" Genson; I want you to take command of your battalion and move to the left flank. The main part of the army will be in the clearing while your division will be in the forest. Your main objective is to protect the archers behind you. We will draw the fiends toward us. When the archers have a good shot they will open fire. Your men will also be armed with javelins and they will throw them at the Goblins. Then you will charge into their mists and kill all."
" Yes father." Genson replied. He strode out, untied Lightning, and rode off to his division.
" Hail, Lord Genson!" came a loud voice.
" Good-day to you Stefan." Genson replied. A man came out in front of the army. Stefan was Genson's right-hand man.
" Today's a good day? I thought we were fighting those bloody Gobs. I can't wait to revenge Galen-Hiem, Frating and all of the fallen villages."
" Peace, peace Stefan. You shall have your vengeance soon enough. We shall hide in the forest."
" WHAT!" roared Stefan. " I am not going to hide in the forest like a bloody pansy!"
"Stefan, constrain yourself!" bellowed the prince. Genson told Stefan the kings orders.
"Oh. Well then. I'll spread the news and go get those spears." replied a very red Stefan. He strode away into the mist of the battalion. Genson sounded the news and the battalion moved to the designated area. Now, all they could do, was wait.
And wait.

Two Foes Collide

An hour-and-a-half later, a call sounded from the mist of the army.
" I hear them!" All of the men stood stalk still.
Hoarse screams could be heard. All of the men surged to their feet, drawing their weapons. Genson peered into the darkness of the forest.
Goblins swarmed into the clearing. They were equipped with large black daggers and their teeth.
All of the sudden he heard multiple twangs behind him. Genson remembered his orders and let his spear fly with the volley of arrows.
Genson saw his spear fall, impaling a goblin thru the head.
" Men! Charge for Galen-Hiem! Remember our lost brethren! CHARGE!!" yelled Genson. He drew his sword, and gave a mighty war cry. He spurred Lightning and galloped toward the Goblins. They were surprised and fell back. A goblin drew back his arm and threw his dagger. Genson saw it and lifted his shield just in time.
The black dart lay quivering in his shield. Genson charged at the Goblin and deftly smote him in the chest. Suddenly, the prince saw a blast of blue energy surge toward his army. It hit a couple men and knocked them dead. They can use magic! Genson realized. What can I do? Genson wondered. An idea sprung to his head. The magician! Genson quickly killed the goblins that surrounded him and galloped away to where his father was commanding.
"Father! I have an idea for the magic users. We have that wizard in jail, he can use magic."
"Genson, it's not safe. I don't trust magic. Don't do it!" " Father, I have to!" Genson quickly galloped toward the castle. All of the sudden a blast of red magic hit his faithful steed, killing Lightning.
Genson leaped off the falling horse, landing on his back. Silvery stars danced in his eyes as he lay in the dirt stunned. His vision cleared soon and he stood up. He felt as weak as an old man. He knelt by the fallen steed and said, " Farewell, my faithful friend."
He stood up.
He needed a horse to make it back to the castle. Suddenly, a cavalry horse-man was killed in front of Genson, falling of his horse.
Genson ran toward the brown war-horse and mounted it. He spun it around and headed to the castle. He was let in the large oak doors.
He dismounted the horse, threw down his shield, sheathed his sword, ripped his helm off, and headed toward the dungeon stairs. He flew down the stairs, three at a time, and soon came to the dungeon door.

Freedom and a Betrayer

He opened it and strode into the dim room. He saw the containment door where the prisoner was kept and stepped to it. The containment door was all wood except for a slit cut for air and light. Genson saw the prisoner manacled to a bed watching the battle out the single window.
"You there. Wizard."
" Aye?"
"We need your help. The goblins have magic. We need a counter-magic user. You. This is a chance to redeem yourself."
"Ok, but how are you going to get me out? The guard was sent to go fight in the army and the idiot man didn't take off the keys."
Genson cursed his ill-fate quietly. He looked around and saw a large black executioners-axe obviously for show hanging on the wall. He strode over, lifted it from the pegs, and went back to the door.
Genson brought it over his head and brought it smashing to the door. He did this for several minutes till there was a hole large enough to crawl thru. Genson set down the axe and crawled thru the door. He turned back, grasped the axe and stepped into the room.
"Get of the bed and step as far out as you can. Genson hoisted the axe and brought it smashing on the link of the iron chain, cleaving it in two. Genson dropped the axe and led the prisoner to the hole. They both ducked under. The prince and the wizard quickly flew up the steps and to the courtyard.
"The irons!" the prisoner yelled, noticing the bulky handcuffs for the first time.
"We'll have to get them off later!" Genson said. The two men flew to the armory.
" Why are we here?" asked the prisoner.
"To get you some armor." the prince replied.
"I can make my own armor with magic. I'll need the irons off though." the wizard said. The prince saw a large anvil and a large war-hammer in the corner.
" Spread the chain on the anvil." the prince said. Genson brought the hammer crashing on the chain. The chain split in two. The wizard was free.
"Now. I just need to hold a piece of metal to make my armor. " The prince handed the prisoner the war-hammer.
" Warum Blingrarey Oun Metalige!"
Instantly, the war-hammer began to shimmer and glow. Then, the metal of the hammer all of the sudden split in two, then spreading over the body of the wizard forming full body armor .
There was a sudden surge of light, then the wizard stood in blue armor. He held a gray kite-shield. A sword hung at his side. The sheath was a deep blood-red. The hilt was gold with a ruby in the pommel.
"I am ready." said the wizard. Genson ran to the place where the horse was tied and threw on his helm and picked up his shield. He mounted the horse and waited. The wizard soon came out of the stable on a gray horse.
"Let's go." said the wizard. The gates were opened and Genson gazed across the plain. Genson could tell the battle fared bad for the kingdom. He galloped toward the nearest struggle.
He quickly lopped of the head of a Goblin chewing on a warrior. The wizard soon came to the side of Genson. He hopped of the horse and grabbed a fist full of grass and yelled,
"Grassum Contangle Thatus!"
All of the sudden grass arms shot out of the ground, wrapping around 13 Goblins arms and legs, constraining them, allowing the warriors to easily kill them. The wizard mounted his horse and with a bloody grimace yelled,
"I need to talk to the king! Complications have arose." Genson said nothing but reared the horse around and galloped back toward his father. He soon came to a stop by the king. The wizard came shortly after. All of the sudden, the wizard pointed his sword at the king and Genson-his lips forming frantic words. Genson then felt as if his head was on fire, and began spinning into the ground.

The Face of an Enemy

When Genson awoke, he saw the wizard standing over him with an evil sneer on his face.
"Welcome to the realm of my master This way please. And please don't try to kill me. My master would have to kill you." he said mockingly.
It was hot!
Flames danced on every wall, casting eerie shadows on the black floor. Genson stood and followed the wizard down a dark tunnel. They soon came to a large room. In the center a huge green ball of energy levitated about four feet of the ground.
In front of it stood a man. He was dressed in a orange cloak. Long red hair flailed from his head. His skin was deathly white and his eyes where blood red. The devil. Gensons father stood chained in a corner.
" So. You decided to join me. How pleasant." the devils words were as smooth as oiled glass.
" Now that you're here, I have no need of him" the devil motioned toward the King. "Please! Don't kill him! I'll tell you everything."
" Where is the magic city of Redalport?" asked the devil.
" At the bottom of Lake Mirna." Genson replied. "Thank you, Genson. Talso!" The wizard approached the devil.
"Kill the king. Than you shall have your reward."
"Gladly master." The wizard drew his sword. The wizards blade began to glow bright red.
"Unhhhhh." grunted Genson as he hurled his sword at the wizard. The magic sword, Rakong, glowed yellow as it flew threw the air. It ran Talso threw the heart. Talso dropped to the ground dead.
" You vile prince!" screamed the devil. A shot of red energy flew from the devils finger and hit the king in the head.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed the prince.
The kings head drooped, and he died, falling to the ground.
" Now, I shall kill you!" screamed the insane devil. An idea popped into Genson's head. He dropped his shield, and grabbed the black dagger still buried in the wood. He hurled the dagger with all his strength into the green orb.
Yellow lightning swirled around it.
"No! How could you do this! the devil screamed. The orb blew with a mighty explosion.
Genson ran and yanked Rakong out of Talso's corpse. Yellow light swirled around him and Genson found himself flying. All of the sudden Genson realized he was lying on the ground. He saw Stefan running towards him. Then..... he blacked out.
So thus is how it ends-those closest to us cause us the most pain- Sloan

Okay a couple things to start this all out. It is LONG. To long for most people in this area to read it. I spent an hour and a half going over it all. Most people here won't correct something that is over 500 words or so, just to let you know. Also there was a lot to read so i was honest and brutal. I think you have a great start here, just don't be hurt by anything I said. I just want to help you get better at all of this and make this story into the best thing it can be.

Okay so the things in bold are the things I am talking about, and the red marks are my suggestions, thoughts, corrections and so on. Hope this helps!

He went thru (Thru is the improper spelling of the word through. this is a novel so you would use Through not Thru) the door and crossed to another door which opened to a large smithy. In the dark room he could make out the large forge with glowing coal (should be coals since there is more then one) in it.
A large, burly, man was fanning the fire. Grabbing a pair of tongs, he quickly drew a long piece of red-hot metal out of the glowing coal(Same as above should be coal). The man's soot-blackened face persperated heavily as he grabbed a hammer on his move to the anvil(This sentence sounds awkward. Persperated isn't a word, maybe you were think of Perspired. And saying"On his move to the anvil", sounded weird. I would rewrite it to something like, "The man's soot-balckened face dripped heavily with sweat as he grabbed a nearby hammer and quickly walked over to the anvil." Or something like that . He began to pound on the metal. Sparks flew everywhere. When the metal no longer glowed bright red, the man took the metal to the coal(same as before, its coals) and slid it in. He began to blow the bellows when he saw Genson in the corner watching his work.
"Ah yur' Highness!" he exclaimed. He bowed low then Genson spoke,(should be period not comma)
"Rise Lakam. You know I will have none bow to me." The two shared a hearty handshake and Genson said, "That's better."
" Ay. And it's better on me back!" agreed Lakam. The prince chuckled.(You don't need a new sentence for this, do " agreed Lakam, as the prince chuckled." or something similar.)
" Yur helm be in the cloth bag over there." pointed Lakam. The prince strode over to the corner and opened the bag. He drew out the round object in the center. The helm was perfect. The iron was shaped into a bucket helmet. Two brass strips decorated the helm. One ran down the center vertically, while another ran horizontally under the eye rectangles forming a solid brass cross.(Personally this whole paragraph doesn't flow to well. You are good at not over using your commas and suing periods but... i would hesitate to say I would like you to use a few more commas. Combine some of these smaller sentences and the whole thing should flow better.)
Genson lifted the helm and put it on his head. It fit snugly. Then all the sudden he felt a soft blow on the back of his head. A loud ringing filled his ears. Instinctively he turned around, ready to defend himself against the unseen assailant . He saw Lakam holding up his hammer and grinning like a fox.(I liked this but what does a fox's grin look like? What type of emotion are you trying to describe. In my mind it is a mischievous grin, but other people may not get it so possibly cut the fox and pick something else.)
" Ya, if we hear that in battle wull' know who just died." Lakam laughed. Genson started out the door.(This doesn't flow into the next sentence at all. Combine the two sentences to say, "As Genson turned to leave he gave Lakam a good smack on the stomach and said," or something close. It just feels choppy.) As he passed Lakam he gave the blacksmith a good smack on the stomach and said "Yeah, if we hear that we'll know who's been sneaking second helpings!"

(AHHH! This whole section lacks depth and emotion as well as description. I am not trying to be rude, just brutally honest :). What does the chapel look like? Are there bowls of incense or candles burning? Is Father Lawrence short, fat, bald? Is he happy to see Genson? How does he feel about blessing the helm, does it worry him about times ahead. What is their relationship with each other like? These are all good questions, not all have to be answered but some should. This is a great scene you have set up but it likes emotion and all the characters are very one sided. Explore their feelings and describe the place around us and where we are at more.)He crossed the courtyard and headed to the stables. He saddled his white horse, Lightning, and rode out of the castle. He rode quickly to the village. There he saw the Manor House. He silently covered himself with a cloak so no one recognized him.(Once again the bit above was a good time for description. Is it sunny or rainy outside. Are people bustling around selling their wares while kids flitter around in the streets? You are trying to create a picture in the author's mind here so describe a bit more. Now the sentence in bold doesn't make sense. He rode to the village, and THEN he covered himself? Chances are someone has already seen and recognized him, so he should probably do that before he leaves the castle. Also he probably wouldn't take his favorite horse as it would be recognizable to people.)
He knocked on the door and a large woman answered. "Yes?" she asked him.
" Is your daughter Lisa home?" asked Genson
"Of course." replied the woman. The door shut softly. A few seconds later the door was opened and the most beautiful woman stepped out.(Okay so a strange man in a cloak appears on your doorstep and you are just going to let him see your daughter? I don't think so. Either she should know who he is and invite him in, or he should go to a back door or climb a window to get to Lisa.)
Her hair was a gorgeous color of copper. Her eyes shone as green as emeralds. She was slim and fair. She wore a yellow dress with lace as the sleeves.(YAY!!! Good description and this is someone I can picture and see in my mind. But reword the second sentence it doesn't flow write. Try, "Her eyes shone like green emeralds, and she was slim and fair." Or something to the sort.)
"Genson!" she exclaimed. She leapt forward into his arms and kissed the prince. Hand in hand, they walked together toward the garden. Soon they found a large weeping willow that they sat under. Genson told Lisa all that had happened since he had last seen her. Lisa leaned on the prince's shoulder.(Once again i would combine some of these sentences to help all flow better. So try, "Genson told Lise all that had happened since they had last seen each other as they lay side by side beneath the tree." Or something to that sort, just combine some of these sentences. Once again my opinion your choice!) Suddenly the prince felt an urging to ask Lisa something.
Silently Lisa opened her homes("Homes"? Should be opened the door to the house and led him inside") door and led him inside. The interior was dark, lit by a fire and the natural sunshine. There Genson saw Lisa's mother sitting before the fire.
" Hello mother." said Lisa. " Mother, this is my true love." Genson swept back the hood of the cloak. Recognition filled the woman's eyes.(True love? And if they live in a nice house they have money so I would think Genson would have been recognized by the mother before. And did he have the cloak on the whole time he was with Lisa since he just now swept back the hood? Kind of hard to kiss someone with a cloak all around your face :))
Lisa's mothers hands flew straight over her mouth.(Not trying to be nit picky but this has been going on for 1 1/2 years and dear old mum and dad have never noticed? Personally it seems unlikely.)
Genson could tell that Lisa's mother was very surprised by Lisa's unexpected news.(I would be to :))
Well that went well."(Forgot a " at the beginning) Genson said. Lisa smiled then kissed him. " Well, I'm off to the castle." Genson said.(Give me more description in how Genson is feeling! I mean we know he is releaved but is he excited? Nervous? Also you use "Said" a lot when people talk try other words sometimes. Like, "Well, I'm off to the castle," Genson whispered as he reached down and kiss Lisa one more time. She giggled softly as he pulled away and turned to go..." Or something like that. Make it your own and be creative)
" Go my love and return to me swiftly." Lisa replied formally.

The Call to Arms

Genson mounted Lightning then rode off towards the castle at a swift gallop. He turned possession of Lightning over to Eric, the stable boy, and headed to the Throne room. He removed his cloak and he opened the door and slowly strolled in.This sentence has no flow and I think it is all the "ands". Try, "He removed his cloaked and opened the door slowly as he strolled into the throne room...") He saw his father sitting on the throne.
The man he saw earlier(Maybe I missed it but what man had he seen earlier?) was standing before the king with irons around his hands.
He then snapped(Use another word other then snap, the repetition is distracting.) on his metal torso and thigh plates. The final thing he pulled on was his new helm.(OKay this whole paragraph is overwhelming. You could break it down, making a new paragraph from when he is getting dressed to where you are describing the crest on the shield. Also you start a lot of the above sentences with "he". Use Genson's name a bit more and like always but some of the sentences together when you can. )
He strode out of the armory and headed toward the stables. He found Lightning already saddled, and mounted the horse. He took a deep breath then took of toward the East Gates. The gates were opened and Genson gazed toward the large field that gradually melted(Good description I like it) into the forest. Already, Genson could already(The already is not needed to start the sentence, say "Genson could already...) tell that they would be outnumbered. Only about 3000 of the army was there. (This sentence sounds weird. Try"Only a portion of the army was here, about three thousand men in all) His whole battalion was there, though. He quickly headed to the command tent. He dismounted Lightning, tied him up, and entered the tent.(Genson does a lot of "robotic" things. He dresses, ties the horse, walks into the tent. We never get to hear how he is feeing. Is he sad, nervous, excited... we don't know, describe the feelings of ALL of your characters more. And once again you started a LOT of sentences with He.)
There he saw his father and Gosim standing over an un-rolled map spread on a table. Another man stood by the map. Genson recognized the man as Aubrey McClure. He was the main commander in charge of the kings army and also Lisa's father.(Whoa this dude is Lisa's father and he never recognized Genson when he came over to visit? Also what does he look like?)
"Sire." acknowledged Aubrey.
"What is the situation father?" asked Genson.
" The goblins were seen in this area." the king said, pointing to a large clearing north of the camp.
" How long till they arrive?" asked Genson
" An hour or two." the king answered. "Aubrey. Prepare the main army."In my opinion, and I am not the best when it comes to grammar I admit, but you ue periods WAY to much. This one line has FOUR sentences in it, and it could all easily be one. Try, "An hour or two," the king answered as he turned to Aubrey and ordered, "Prepare the main army!"()
" Yes, your Majesty." Aubrey answered. He left the tent.(Same with this, 3 sentences and there should only be one. Try, "Yes, your majesty," Aubrey answered as he quickly left the tent", or something like that. I am not going to go through and find all the times you did this and fix it, that is your honor and privilege since this is your story!)
Then you will charge into their mists and kill all."(There should be a them, "kill them all.")
" Yes father." Genson replied. He strode out, untied Lightning, and rode off to his division.
" Hail, Lord Genson!" came a loud voice.
" Good-day to you Stefan." Genson replied. A man came out in front of the army. Stefan was Genson's right-hand man. (This whole page has SO many periods, and what the heck does Stefan look like? Description, please give me more :))
" Today's a good day? I thought we were fighting those bloody Gobs. I can't wait to revenge Galen-Hiem, Frating and all of the fallen villages."(I didn't realize Stefan was saying this till the next sentence, trying making it more clear.)
" Peace, peace Stefan. You shall have your vengeance soon enough. We shall hide in the forest."
" WHAT!" roared Stefan. " I am not going to hide in the forest like a bloody pansy!"(Hahaha I liked this, nice using "roar" to describe how Stefan reacted, but did they really use the word "pansy" back then? I liked it overall though)
"Stefan, constrain yourself!" bellowed the prince. Genson told Stefan the kings orders.
"Oh. Well then. I'll spread the news and go get those spears." replied a very red Stefan. He strode away into the mist (there is mist now? Or did you mean "amidst"?) of the battalion. Genson sounded the news and the battalion moved to the designated area. Now, all they could do, was wait.
And wait.

Two Foes Collide

An hour-and-a-half later, a call sounded from the mist (Once again i think you mean amidst so it would be, "A call sounded from amidst the arm.) of the army.
" I hear them!" All of the men stood stalk still.
Hoarse screams could be heard. All of the men surged to their feet,(In the previous sentence they were standing stalk still and now they are standing again? When did they sit?) drawing their weapons.
It hit a couple men and knocked them dead(Doesn't sound write. Reword it to something like, "It hit a couple of men, killing them in the blink of an eye" or something like that. Knocked them dead creates a odd picture in the mind). They can use magic! Genson realized. What can I do? Genson wondered.(Genson "realized" and "wondered" in two sentences when he could be doing all of that in one. Change it to something like, "They can use magic! Genson realized as he felt panic slowly rising, what can I do?" Or something like that, also when a character is thinking in their mind it is easier to italicize the word so we can distinguish it from everything else) An idea sprung to his head. The magician! Genson quickly killed the goblins that surrounded him and galloped away to where his father was commanding.
"Father! I have an idea for the magic users. We have that wizard in jail, he can use magic."
"Genson, it's not safe. I don't trust magic. Don't do it!" " Father, I have to!"(AHHH! father and son talking in the same paragraph. You haven't done this before so I am guessing it is a mistake, but when Genson relies to his father it should be a new paragraph.) Genson quickly galloped toward the castle.
(It is good you are describing how he is feeling but how would he knew what an old man felt like. Describe it some other way or say something like this is how he imagined an old man would feel like)He knelt by the fallen steed and said, " Farewell, my faithful friend."
He stood up. (A totally pointless blimp. Cut it and add it to the next bit so it says, "Genson stood up and quickly looked around. He needed another horse to make it back..." or something like that)
He needed a horse to make it back to the castle. Suddenly, a cavalry horse-man was killed in front of Genson, falling of (You mean off not of) his horse.
Genson ran toward the brown war-horse and mounted it. He spun it around and headed to the castle. He was let in the large oak doors. (Once again to many periods, combine some of these, and he sure got their fast, maybe describe how the ride was a bit, just an idea.)

He looked around and saw a large black executioners-axe obviously for show hanging on the wall.(I've never heard of a dungeon having decorations, least of all an axe for show) He strode over, lifted it from the pegs, and went back to the door.
Genson brought it over his head and brought it smashing to the door. He did this for several minutes till there was a hole large enough to crawl thru. (through no thru) Genson set down the axe and crawled thru the door. He turned back, grasped the axe and stepped into the room.
"Get of (Off not of) the bed and step as far out as you can.
Then, the metal of the hammer all of the sudden split in two, then spreading over the body of the wizard forming full body armor. (Cool, wish i could so that :))
Genson could tell the battle fared bad (Should be "tell the battle was faring badly for the kingdom.") for the kingdom.
The wizard mounted his horse and with a bloody grimace yelled,(what did he yell...)
(oooo... he betrayed them... cool!)

The Face of an Enemy

When Genson awoke, he saw the wizard standing over him with an evil sneer on his face.
"Welcome to the realm of my master This way please. And please don't try to kill me. My master would have to kill you." he said mockingly.
It was hot!(Not needed, we'll get its hot by the flames and you can have Genson sweat a little incase we are confused.)
His skin was deathly white and his eyes where(Were not where) blood red. The devil.(Confused me, who is the devil? Are you saying the bad guy with the eyes is?) Gensons father stood chained in a corner. (Good description of this new bad guy, I could really see and picture him in my mind)
" So. You decided to join me.(Get rid of the period after "so" and make it a comma) How pleasant." the devils words were as smooth as oiled glass. (I'm confused how do we know he is the devil? Because he looks evil?)
" Now that you're here, I have no need of him" the devil motioned toward the King. "Please! Don't kill him! I'll tell you everything."(Who's saying this? Is it Genson? Clarify it)
" Where is the magic city of Redalport?" asked the devil.
" At the bottom of Lake Mirna." Genson replied. "Thank you, Genson. Talso!" The wizard approached the devil.
"Kill the king. Than you shall have your reward."
"Gladly master." The wizard drew his sword. The wizards blade began to glow bright red.(So many periods!!! I am not going to change it but please do!)
"Unhhhhh." grunted Genson as he hurled his sword at the wizard. (Wasn't he bound? And why does he still have his weapons with him? Wouldn't the enemy have taken them away to prevent something like this?)The magic sword, Rakong, glowed yellow as it flew threw the air.
"No! How could you do this!(forgot to end the dialogue with a ".)the devil screamed.
(I understand he had an idea but how would he know to attack the orb and not the Devil? My first move would be to kill the guy who killed my father.)

Grammar: Your grammar was good and all. I caught a few spelling mistakes but overall you did good with that, which is nice to see. You do use WAY to many periods, not trying to be mean, just honest. You should go through and see which sentences can be made into two. You also start a lot of sentences with "He" or "Genson", so try using others words or ways to begin a sentence but the repetition gets old after a while.
Characters: A lot of your characters were a little bland. They lacked depth and emotion, you rarely told us what they were thinking or feeling. Two of your best ones were Lisa, I felt like we actually got to see how she felt here and there but we never really did for Genson. I have no idea how he really thinks or feels, so put more of that in.
Plot: Your plot was GREAT! You have a really good and interesting start going on here. There is a lot of work that needs to be done, and some explanations you should give but it was good. Like where was Genson before this whole thing, you made it sound like he had been away from lisa for a while, so where was he?

Overall: You have a REALLY good start here so congratulations. Like anything there is still quite a work that needs to be done, but if you put the time into it this will be great, congrats!

Hello! You have a great story plot here. And on the whole it's quite entertaining.

there are many grammar/punctuation/spelling mistakes through out the story. I am not going to point out each one as that would take too long, and I see DSF has already done that. One thing though, those grammar mistakes are pretty basic, so I think you would have noticed them if you read through the story slowly and payed attention to the grammar and punctuation. Please edit your work thoroughly to the best of you ability before posting it on YWS. In that way, the reviewers will only point out the things that you missed, and it's kind of disheartening to take the time to critique someone's work when they already know those problems exist. We're here to help you with the things that you did not notice in your story. I'm sure you'd like to receive such reviews too. I hope you get what I mean. ;)

Characterization:

Your characters are very flat. I can't relate to them. The only differences between them are their physical differences. There should be so much more to them than that. Few ways to improve characterization:

Dynamic Vs Static:
Dynamic characters are the characters that change by the end of the story. They go through external as well as internal conflicts which in the end brings out change in them as they strive to resolve those conflict. A good writer should strive to create dynamic characters. Static characters are the ones that are static, or stay the same though out. And by mean they 'change', I mean internally, not physically. All of your main characters should be dynamic if you want strong characters. They must change in some way. Lets take an example from The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. Bilbo Baggins in the beginning is comfort loving, easily frightened hobbit, who loves planing ahead for things and knowing what to expect before hand. By the end of the book, he is a witty, courageous hobbit, who can get out of tough situations using his wits. He's not that easily frightened hobbit anymore. He goes through a change because of the conflicts he has to face.
Characters should have faults that they learn to fix. All characters must have faults for them to be realistic. That brings me to my next post.

Characters are Real

They are! And, no, I'm not crazy. What I mean is that a writer must treat their characters as real. They should not be stick people being used to tell a story. No. They have their own lives, their weaknesses, their strengths, family backgrounds, fears, ambitions, aspirations etc. what I like to do, is to make index cards for my characters and fill in information about them. I like to think them as character identification cards. These are the things I fill out about them:
Name
Ethnicity
Appearance
Job
Residence
Favourite Colour
Friends
Drinking
Faults
Religion
Hobbies
Marital Status
Temperament
Dislikes
Likes
Respects:
Pet Peeves
Secrets
Nervous Gestures
Sleep Patterns
Love Interest

If you don't mention some of these things in your story, you should know them about your character. Makes a huge difference.

Dialogue:

"All the information you need can be given in dialogue."
- Elmore Leonard

Dialogue should reflect the character's personality, and their lifestyle. You do a bit of that, in the sense that you change tha acents so we know what kind rank the person belongs to. But your dialogue should be so defined for each character according to their personalities, that the reader should know if it's the King speaking or Genson without actually having their names mentioned.

To sum up: check out this article on characterization

Descriptive Language

Use it! It captivates the reader and grasps their imagination. As a reader I want your writing to arouse my emotions and kindle my imagination. Descriptive language also establishes a setting of the story vividly in the reader's mind and grasps them into the story. It also helps us visualize the appearance of the characters, so we gain a better understanding of the characters' personalities. By appearance, I don't mean just build and height and hair colour but also their manner of dressing which should reflect their personalities. Are they neat or tidy? And most importantly, descriptive language creates realism. It's not just a story any more, it's the world, we as readers have entered. it brings your story to life.

Over All:
So, you've got a great plot and story line. Lots of adventure. Though I think you take things a little too quickly. If you slow the pace a teensy bit it would be more enjoyable. We would get a glimpse of the characters' normal life. Right now, it running back and forth and not pause for description, emotions and feelings. I mean you can make Lisa and Genson's little moment so much more enjoyable if you slow it down a bit and show more dialogue between them to give a better sense of their chemistry, and the same way with other characters. How do they relate with each other? Also don't be shy of using descriptive language. ;)

I hope I was of some help. Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

Keep Writing!

Aside from what the other two have mentioned, there are a couple things I'd like to add.

First off, when you do describe things (like the prince's shield), it is very infodumpy. You stuff all that information into one huge paragraph and just tell us what it looks like which makes it boring and not fun to read.

The story itself is pretty standard as far as heroic prince stories go, but this isn't a bad thing by itself. It's just that you haven't really added much to this well-known formula of storytelling. If the characters were more realistic and unique, and/or if the world the story takes place in was more alive and almost a character of its own, this story would be a bit more engaging. As it stands, it's not bad, but it's not great, either.

Another thing that I noticed was that everything moves so quickly and there is so little description that this whole piece read as "this" happened then "that" happened then "this thing" happened and so on. It's a very actiony plot and that's fine, but having everything happen one after the other after the other without any pause makes it difficult to enjoy and care about the story and characters.

Also, what time period is this story taking place in? You mention something about one of the characters having an Irish accent, so I'm assuming that it takes place in Earth's past, but I have no idea when.

And one final thing: I know it's more dramatic, but no sane military commander would ever ride out into open battle against substantially larger forces if they have the option of taking refuge behind the walls of a wonderful castle. Walls make for good vantage points to throw deadly things down at your enemies without you having to worry about your enemies being able to do the same.
