Hello everyone.
There is a bit of a story behind this picture because it is based off the Storybook, Le Château du Seul. The two characters there are Joshua and Isabelle. It certainly is a bizarre Storybook, but that is why I like it. Joshua in the Storybook doesn't actually have wings just to let you know, that was me just doodling.

This picture actually started as a doodle, but then I continued it on and on, and eventually it turned out like this. I would love some critiques because I plan on doing a better copy of this. I was hoping that you people would be able to help me before I do so.

Somethings that I do already know is wrong about the picture:
1) Their necks look broken.
2) The hands are absolutely horrible. I am sorry, and I am horrible at those.
3) The levels don't actually work out.
4) The wing behind the other doesn't look right.
5) The wording is crooked. ;)
6) I should add more detail in the background to get the setting to look better.

So rip this to shreads please!
Image

Some iffy things, Joshua is wearing a mask, Isabelles eyes are supposed to be almost all black (there is a long story behind that), and he has his hand laying on some random banister.

Help is much appreciated.

P.S. If anyone has a recommendation for me to draw something, (Characters from stories you have written, random people, etc.) feel free to mention it. I need some inspiration from some drawings. I am in a drawing mood, but the problem is I don't quite know what to draw.

Woah... This is really, really good! I love Isabelle's pose and the mask on Joshua. You really have a good eye for detail on the characters. I'd never have the patience to draw something like that. Simply beautiful. The spiderwebs add a creepy effect to the entire thing. I don't see a problem with the hands, though. You're really good. I really have nothing else to say.

Um... could you draw the characters from my story, The Light? If it's not too much, of course.
There once was a cat.
He wasn’t particularly fat.
Fuzzy was his favorite mat.
And really, that was that.

Oh, but did you really think so?
Keep reading, it’s just the start of the show!
And as for how far this tale will go…
Well, even the cat doesn’t know.

Wow. Great job! I like the details on the characters' outfits and their pose. I kinda agree with the 'broken neck' thing, but about the hands, I think you did a fine job with them. I love the spiderwebs as well.

Keep up the good work!
:)
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

This is really good! I love the feel this piece gives you. I know the others have said it, but I love their outfits and pose. I agree, the hands are perfectly fine as is. The neck isn't even all that bad. It's great.

And, I like the crooked wording. I just think it adds something.

Only thing. Is the key Isabell holding on a string? Because if so, the banister should continue through the hole in the string. Right now it looks like a solid mass.

But that's really small, and the only thing I see wrong with it. Great work!

This is really good. I think the hands and the necks look fine. Adding anymore detail to the background would distract from the detail in the characters. The wings are at an odd angle and don't really seem to fit. The wording is perfect for the picture and looks really good. :D

Interesting picture, not really sure where you got the idea.

1) Clean it up. There are plenty of smudges and eraser marks. Also, go a little lighter on the pencil, because you blurred some things.

2) Work on the depth. It looks kind of 2d.

Thank you all. I know it is a bit smudgy, but that is simply because I draw like that. The other picture I put up was incredibly sketchy, and moreover my pictures turn out usually like that. I tried to fix this one up a bit.

I also had to hit my head when I realized that the banister couldn't be seen through the string. Such a simple mistake.

I agree it does look 2-D. I believe I could possible do shading once I clean up the lines. I'll take in all your comments, because I actually like this idea.
I thank all of you!

I adore Isabelle's dress and pose, it's amazing that this used to be a doodle. I definitely think that if you redid this, it'd be even better ^__^
It's funny but you draw hands exactly like me xD
But, I really love the clothes they are wearing!
I mean i occasionally design clothes but, you those are really nice. (;
But, Joshua's second wing does bug me but, you already know that. hahh
And i think the crooked wording matches the picture, just my person opinion. ;D

You could always try to draw some of my characters in my book ^________^
If your ever interested just pm me.

I've saw your storybook in the forums before :D I love your creativity, how you can draw your own characters and stuff. Thats so cool. I can only draw from a picture :(
I love the guy's mask. It's beautiful! And I can't see anything wrong with their necks. You did a good job on the hands too :P The only thing I could point out is that the banister is randomly floating... maybe you should add some supports below it if you know what I mean :D

P.S- Could you draw my wolfquest character, Lhuna? There's a pic of her in my wolf Storybook Black Tooth vs Yellow Hill. If that's ok ^^

I will probably end up drawing all your characters. ;)
And thank you for the reviews.
I am definetely going to fix the banister. Someone also pointed out that my banister can't be seen through the string in the dress and that made me laugh! I really need to fix my floating banister. But I believe right now, it has charisma! Just kidding.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix the left wing? I personally am horrible at drawing wings (please don't ask for examples) and any help would be much appreciated.

I think you should make the wing look a little less stiff. Give them less angles and softer shapes. I envy anyone who can draw clothes properly. The folds are always so difficult and I can't get the shading right. Anyway, just a tiny comment: Isabelle's hair looks kind of scraggly and messy.

Great job as always, Incognito!

WaterVyper, I thanks you! Well, the hair was my horrible attempt at properly shading and my computers attempt at trying to scan in properly.

And I will draw your characters! This goes for everyone. Just put a link to a decription of them, or PM me it. ;)

I think it needs a little more work on proportions. And yes, the necks do look broken but overall, it's really very pretty! :D I compliment you on the calligraphy! It's almost flawless, like you used a computer text. Well done! :D

Keep it up! :D

Incog, are you serious? You're asking for critiques on this? :P

This is wonderful. The pose of the two characters is just wonderful. The guy looks semi-arrogant, and it seems like the two characters were having quite a tense discussion. :P

The shading on this is brilliant, and the spiderwebs give a wonderful eerie touch to this. Add a bit of shading to the wings, dearie, so that they "pop" more than they are now. For now, they're appearing a bit flat. :P

Beautiful job, Incog. Keep it up!
