Scientists and meteorologists have always said that they expected a meteor or asteroid to hit Earth and once again wipe out the dominant species of animals. Meaning most likely us. Though they respectfully added that this wasn't expected until at least 500 million years later.

But they were wrong.

The next shower of meteors hits today and it destroys nearly everything in its path. 16 who were on an excursion in a experimental nuclear bomb shelter, the peak of current technological defense, survive, you are one of them. You have signed up for the excursion and you are all complete strangers, (unless you want to plan with someone otherwise).

Only the smallest amount of radiation reaches you, not mutating you, but giving you enhanced strength. It also shifts something in your brain allowing you one special power.

At the same site that the nuclear bomb shelter is on, only a few hundred kilometres away is a defense base with the latest techno-logic gizmo's which may deflect the next reign of chaos. All mode of transport has been smashed into smithereens and no power works, except the site you are on has a solar powered energizer.

It had collected tonnes of energy and should have enough power to charge a weapon for a strike back.

The bad thing is that some other humans did survive, though the radioactive waste radiating from the meteors malformed them. Turning them into mutants who have no purpose in life and who crave human flesh to nourish themselves. Basically zombies.

I hope you survive and save the world or die and kill all the survivors. Your choice. ^^

Okay, well . . Rules

1. No God-Modding.
You all know what this is.

2. You can't all have the same power
I mean, how boring would that be?

3. You can't have a power like, "Death to all things he looks at."
Because that would be stupid. Please keep powers tasteful.

4. This is a Story Book.
It is meant to help your writing skills. Please post more than 100 words. Ensure that it is grammatically correct and not just simple sentences, add some adjectives and adverbs ^^.

5. If this dies.
If things start to die, have some random mutated zombie suddenly clutch at your characters leg, in fact have hundreds of them just running after you. This will prompt others to post and try to survive as well.

6. An important one. The act of killing.
You CAN kill off other characters. Just ensure that they have a chance to fight back and it has to be a believable death as well, they can't just die because you've decided to kill them by hitting their head. That is a lame death - make it interesting.

7. Killing Zombies
To kill a zombie it is recommended to not aim for their body, but for their brains. This will bring them down fast. Though if you want to be sadistic by all means go ahead. Also if you just leave them alone, they will follow you and attempt to eat you. Zombie bites are infectious and if not immediately seen to make you get gangrene.

Okay, there done. Now profiles will be as follows:

Name: (Nice tasteful names ^^)

Gender:

Age:

Personality:

Appearance: (Pictures or Description is fine)

Reason For Going On The Nuclear Bomb Shelter Excursion:

History: (optional)

Power: (Anything reasonable. Ask me if you have a question about what reasonable means ^^)

Reason For Going On The Nuclear Bomb Shelter Excursion: He was looking for a challenge. He wanted to go to the shelter so when it was over he would have a new world to challenge.

History: Will be revealed, very dangerous though.

Power: He can control the elements of (Water, fire, earth, air, and lightning)but he can only control two at a time, then after that he has to wait an hour till he can change. It also changes his appearance when he uses one

the first power he uses changes his hair, the second he chooses changes his eyes. the effect wears out after the hour.

(Hello! I hope that this is okay. Sorry that the history is so simple. I just assumed that since it wasn't mandatory, it didn't have to be very thorough.)

Name: Fay Zoller

Gender: female

Age: 12

Personality: Although Fay is still a child, she doesn't always act that way. She is rather headstrong and independent and will do anything to reach the goals she sets for herself, but that doesn't make up for her lack of age. She is quick-witted and sharp of tongue, but when she feels self-conscious or is scared she becomes very quiet and closed to the people around her. While she appears to be strong and emotionally stable, as soon as her emotional well-being has been shattered, it takes a while for her to pull herself back together. She has always had a knack for reading people's emotions and sensing how people feel and what they are like based on how they act and look at a single glance

Appearance: (obviously she is younger than this picture shows ;))
Image
Fay is five feet in height and is rather skinny and many people call her scrawny, though she has wiry "swimmer's" muscles. She has piercing green eyes that seem to cut you to the core and long jet-black hair that she has pulled back into a ponytail. She wears a black hoodie, her favorite zip-up sweatshirt, and a bright pale blue long-sleeved T-shirt. The overnight-bag (a small duffel bag) she carries is black with a dark green leaf pattern with red roses on it. She wears three silver bangles on her right wrist and silver studs in her ears. She wears jeans and black boots.

Reason For Going On The Nuclear Bomb Shelter Excursion: Because Fay's parents were especially busy with work (her mother had to go on a camping trip with a group of students and her father had a meeting to propose a new building), she stayed with her grandmother for two days. Before she went home, however, her grandmother signed her up to go on a tour of an experimental bomb shelter, saying that it would be an "educational experience". As Fay planned to go on a plane home directly after the tour, she took her night bag along with her.

History: Fay's parents were both full-time workers: her mother a school counselor and her father the CEO of a construction company. She spent much of her younger childhood at cousins houses and neighbors, which she didn't mind. Her mother's job piqued her interest and she wanted to grow up and have a job like her.

Power: After her exposure to radiation, Fay found that she had been changed. She was faster and stronger and her senses had been sharpened. But in addition to that, Fay found that her mind was working more rapidly than ever. She could now sense people emotions thoroughly and tell who it was just by how their thoughts felt. She can identify whether someone is hostile and can do everything short of reading someone's thoughts like a book, though she is figuring out how to do that as well. (more... useful aspects of her power will be revealed later if that's okay :D)

Other: Though Fay is, in some ways, a natural leader, she typically needs to have someone older than her to help her get along. (hint hint)

Name: Felix d'Angelo

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Personality: He is dark, quiet, and introspective. He cuts talking to the obsolete minimum but when he does speak, people listen. He's tough, strong and enduring but very ambitious and tends to underestimate a lot of things. Overall, he is nice and amiable, but if he doesn't like you he doesn't pause to show it.

Appearance: He has shaggy-ish blue black hair that conceals his eyes, he's tall and strong, he has one red eye and one green and a light tan, and wears mostly black. He has sharp features and he hardly ever smiles. He has dark sags under his eyes usually, and it's from sleep deprivation. He has sharp eyes and an imposing stance.

Reason For Going On The Nuclear Bomb Shelter Excursion: He was on the run from a number of people who wished to do him harm. He thought he'd blend in perfectly with a group of eccentric tourists. And obviously he did manage it.

History: Will reveal.

Power: He has an amazing way of surviving anything. He is an amazing fighter with anything he picks up, he has extremely good endurance skills, he is fast, stealthy, instincts allow him to know how to make shelters, cook food... etc. It's basically a survival gift.

Other: He's up for love. Sure, why not?

*Decides to make another character*

Name: Valerie Jacques

Gender: Female

Age: 15

Personality: Light, and airy. She is overall happy but she feels the pain of others like it's her own. You can tell that there's something bothering her though she hides the pain well. She is hopeful and optimistic and manages to keep Morales high regardless that her own isn't always as it seems.

Appearance: She has shoulder length, curly tawny hair, she has a petite build and violet eyes. She's strong, but looks wispy. She's lithe and is actually built like a football player. (soccer for those of you who prefer to call it that.) She has smooth features and a pale complexion.

Power: She can morph into any feline creature. Though every animal she turns into will always have violet eyes.

Reason for Going: She is on a field trip at the nearby wildlife museum and has strayed far from the group on purpose. Her intention was to take a picture of a sign but she was drawn in and followed a group of others on the tour because she was actually interested.

History: I like revealing these later.

Other: Up for love.

Personality: Rather wary of most people at first.(and with zombies appearing all over who could blame her!) But once she gets to know you she's a vary loyal friend. Shes not a picky eater and will eat just about any thing eatable you pout in front of her! She's vary good with animals (especially cats) and is kinda bummed she didn't get the power to talk to them.

Appearance: (normally)5'2", slim but muscle, long black hair she normally keeps in a brad, fare skin, deep blue/green eyes.(again I say this is her normal/original appearance. She can changer her appearance so I'll give a brief discriptshon when she changes:) )

Reason For Going On The Nuclear Bomb Shelter Excursion: Well um her parents kinda signed her up for it...OK I admit they thought they were signing permission slips for a summer camp but...

History: More fun to reveal later!

Power: She has the power to change her appearance at will. She can make her self look older or younger, make herself vary small or vary big, or make herself have the fetcher(s) of anyone she wishes (including males). She can not however change in to any animals. The only real limit with her human changes is that it can only last for up to about two hours, after that she gos back to her original appearance. *How's that?*

Other: Up for love I guess, but keep in mind...she's a lesbian.

*Okay, I think you powers are all pretty much within reason. I just have a little to pick at.

boltageman - I'm sorry, but that's a little too extensive on your powers, and yes I know you put some limits in, such as his powers can only last one hour, but please PM me so we can work something a little bit less SUPER. And no one knows the world is ending, so you really wouldn't go there for a new world.

LydiaB - OKay, well, you can make her be able to read people's minds, but please do not make it detailed, maybe make it vague?

And hippie_vampire - This sounds fine, but what are the highest levels of change she can reach? Is she able to actually turn into a male or what?

And you guys, it doesn't have to be children, it can ANY age you want, they can be 67 if you want! ^^

All others - Wonderful.

So first posts - What exactly happened to you?*

Personality: Cold, uncaring, unfeeling, but if you dig deep down he's a big softy.

Appearance: http://setokakashiluver.deviantart.com/ ... h-88420597

Reason For Going On The Nuclear Bomb Shelter Excursion: His parents are the designers of it and he was told to go along to learn more about their work.

Power: Can lower the temperature in anything, (along with the usual strength and speed enhancement.)

Other: Up for love.

Ringo

I glanced at the people who had somehow gathered for this excursion, all of them looking like children. As I gazed over them I realised that some more had snuck in and more still seemed to pop out of thin air.

I glanced at the guide, he really didn't seem to care that this was meant to be an exclusive tour. I let out a sigh and set my face into a blank expression, my parents hadn't paid a dime and so really no only else deserved to pay either.

The guide, a man about 51, with a bald patch at the top of his head and wrinkles covering his whole face smiled, "And who wants to see the main part of this excursion?"

A few people put up their hands, mine wasn't one of them. I stared at him coldly and he gulped loudly as he momentarily locked gazes with me. He knew that if I said something wrong to my parents that he'd be sacked. But what did I care?

Then he walked, at a fast pace in front of us until we came to a huge dome like metal creation. It sat in the middle of a open grass field, nearly as big as an Olympic oval. The building we had been inside sat about 200 metres away and clear blue skies up ahead. He swept an arm towards it, "And here is the thing you've all been waiting for! The Nuclear Bomb Shelter!"

To me it didn't look impressive, I wasn't sure about the rest of the people who had manged to get a free tour. It just looked like a large metal dome covered with some type of wiring.

A voice at the back of my head made me speak, "Can we go inside it?"

The tour guide paused turned around, then realised who was talking stapled on a grin and nodded enthusiastically, "Usually I don't let people in, but today I suppose it'll be okay."

Suck-up.

He trotted over to a pad near the door and flipped something open. I watched him press the code, 1--9-85--3. Then he turned back to us, his face sweating profusely, "Okay! Get in!"

People flooded in, some wanting to just disappear and others very interested in what the inside looked like. I just stared at the guide as I walked in watching the sweat roll off of his chubby face.

When I entered I immediately noticed the identical numerical pad on the inside directly opposite the one the guide was standing in front. An irresistible urge built in my fingers and as the last person slipped into the Bomb Shelter I deftly flicked the pad open and pressed exactly what I had seen the guide press.

A red light flash. A few screams of panic were heard and the door slid close with a soft thud and clink. I could hear every single lock in the door slam shut and I'll never forget that look on the tour guider's face as it closed completely. He had been looking up at the sky, not at us. And that expression - I would never ever forget.

Fear.

Then silence gripped us all as the red light stopped flashing and sounds from the outside echoed in. Large crashing sounds. They reverberated around the dome deafening us.

Then something struck the dome. It clashed against the metal so hard that a grating could be heard and it scraped against the outside before falling to the ground. More began to strike following the exact same pattern, but they came faster and harder.

My heart began to beat so fast that I was sure that it wasn't normal. Dints soon became visible on the roof of the metal dome and worry nagged at my mind. What was happening outside? Heat from the extremely fast objects went through the dome layer and entered our breathing area.

The warm was muggy and made breathing difficult. The noises continued for about an hour everyone huddling into one pile, people holding hands - some were praying others not so. I stood there arms nestled around them all, my eyes wide wondering what the hell I had done.

Then the noises stopped.

And we all sat up looking around at each other. A huge explosion on the roof of our dome occurred ripping through all the layers of metal and making one small tiny hairline fracture in the roof.

It was at that moment that a smell hit me. It was so cold and dusty and yet so and hot and dangerous at the same time, that by the time I had realised that I was slowly loosing consciousness, I was confused as to what it really smelt like.

I hit the ground, no pain in my body as it was numb from the odour. The others fell as well, then blackness claimed me.

*Okay, you know the smell of the meteor? You guys can all smell something different, maybe something related to your power!*

(Light_Devil: Fay really doesn't have, like, any control over it right now anyway ;) It might not seem useful, but I already have that worked out. By the way, I can't open deviant art, so I don't know what your character looks like... :()

Fay Zoller

Fay wiped away the sweat that had accumulated on her face with the back of her hand and readjusted the shoulder strap of her night-bag, which was digging painfully into her shoulder. It seemed like they had been walking along for an eternity as the guide blathered on about the date on which the ground had been broken for the building of the bomb shelter and what caused them to want to update its fortifications and blah, blah, blah...

Really, Fay thought. We came here to see the bomb shelter, so let's go to the bomb shelter! I'm going to be late for my flight...

"And who wants to see the main part of this excursion?" The aging tour-guide asked with a grin.

Fay gave a sigh of relief. Several people around her raised their hands around her, but Fay decided to keep her arm down. With my luck, I'd probably lose my balance and fall over.

The group was led out of the building onto a grassy field. Fay's eyes widened slightly when she caught sight of the large dome rising up out of the ground. The dome was made up of a dark metal that shone in the sun and was covered with intertwining metal wires, most likely there to help absorb any impact.

"And here is the thing you've all been waiting for! The Nuclear Bomb Shelter!" The tour guide announced too-cheerily.

"Can we go inside it?"

Fay turned to look at the source of the voice. It was a boy who was considerably older than herself and was staring down the tour guide with an indifferent, cool stare. No wonder the guide was so frayed.

"Usually I don't let people in, but today I suppose it'll be okay." The guide answered.

The group was led up to the dome where the man typed in the code and allowed them inside, though he remained standing by the outside, nervous. Fay stepped inside and began to look around, intoxicated by the intricacy of the electronic equipment built into the walls. The smile faded from Fay's face when she saw the boy who had asked the guide if they could go inside walk over to the keypad and type in a code.

"Don't-"

Fay was cut off by the screams of the people around her as the lights began to flash red and the doors slide close. Locking them in, and the tour guide out. Fay was knocked down by somebody who slammed into her, pinpricks of light drifting across her vision when her head smacked against the cold metal floor.

Suddenly, the flashing stopped. Fay sat up and felt her head, finding a smarting lump but no open cut. She brushed the moisture from her eyes and stood up shakily, pressing a hand to the wall. Shock waves pulsed through her as the metal was struck from the outside. Fay stumbled back, finding herself in a screaming cluster of people as the dome was impacted repeatedly. Fay felt an arm wrap around her, but didn't react. Her eyes were wrenched open with fear and her breath was caught in her throat. Her pulse raced wildly through her body and her vision quivered slightly with each beat of her heart, but she remained frozen.

Fay was thrust out of her stupor by something enormous striking the dome. The screams grew to a deafening level, Fay's voice now mingling with those from around her. The metal groaned, attempting to withstand the force of the blow. But failing. The groaning slowly stopped as the projectile was halted. Fay let out her breath, nearly falling over from the fear that she had just experienced.

W-was that a test or something? Fay wondered with a dry gulp.

Fay's heart nearly stopped as a small crack appeared in the surface of the metal.

She was suddenly racked with coughs. Fay doubled over, wheezing as her throat began to choke on the air. She didn't taste or smell anything in the air, but the people around her were reacting strangely as well. One boy fell over, obviously unconscious. Fay had never experienced anything like this before. She hadn't had a serious asthma attack since she was ten, and never one this bad.

Fay clumsily undid the zipper on her night-bag and poured out the contents, desperately brushing through them to find her inhaler. Fay fell over on her side, screaming as she somehow found air. Emotions rushed over her. Anxiety. Terror. Confusion. She was overwhelmed by the sheer intensity and power of it. After what seemed an eternity, Fay's mind went silent and she fell unconscious.

Akiko

When are we going to get there? I asked myself. We've been walking for hours! I was never much of a hiker. I mean I knew that the bomb shelter was in the middle of nowhere but did the middle of nowhere have to be so far away? My back pack seemed to way 100lb. I wiped the sweat off my forehead and brushed some of my hair back.

I hadn't payed much atenchin to whatever the guide was blabbing about, I just wanted to see the thing not hear about all thous boring random facts about it!

"And who wants to see the main part of this excursion?" asked the guide who was about in his early to mid 50s.

Several people raised there hands. I however was too tiered from walking to lift my arm. We were led to a big grassy fealed. I was almost ready to collapse when the guide looked at us all and said, "And here is the thing you've all been waiting for! The Nuclear Bomb Shelter!"

"Can we go inside it?" I heard someone ask.

"Usually I don't let people in, but today I suppose it'll be okay." The guide said after looking everyone over.

I just hope they have somewhere to sit in there!

We when up to a huge dome shaped building. Then the guide enter a number in to a keypad and let us in.

It was rather dark inside, and quite suddenly it got even darker as the doors closed locking the guide outside and us inside!

Don't be afraid, it's just part of the tour. I kept repeating to myself. Then there was a huge crash and I saw a small crack form in the side of the dome, then people screaming. I was breathing heavily, there seemed to be a vary odd smell in the air. It was like smoke, then like some like some kind of sweet smelling incense, the like rotten meat. I felt my body get white hot, the completely numb before I was overtaken by darkness.

*This is my first time so I hope it's OK*
