The Past and the Present

Me and my friend Amber started to work on this, not really expecting it to be much. But then it turned out to be quite the project! Amber did the old lady side, while I did the younger side. It's supposed to represent the young woman this lady once was, and how she looks now.

We both kind of screwed up on the eyelashes, but never the matter.

And if you're wondering how we could possibly do this on a computer, we have drawing tablets, which enable us to draw on the computer. We did it on an interactive drawing board at www.iscribble.net.

Neat! At first I thought you did this by hand, then I realized by the hair it was computer.

Well, here's a few nit-picks.

Theme:
I like the idea, old and young, past and present. There are some really weird theologies that go with that sort of stuff, and it's a common thing, but you took it into your own hands in a way! Nice!

Lines:
The actual face is great; smooth and paint-like. But the hair and eyelashes really stand out as computer generated. A little to sharp to look like a painting.

Colors:
The hair is great, the skin is great, even the lips are great! It's just the eye's. Technically, eye's should lose some of the melanin as a person grows older, thus becoming lighter in color. this doesn't happen for some people, but I think that it may have drawn the line between the old and young a little thicker.


Otherwise, great job! I could hardly tell the skin was computer.

Oh wow! That just seems creepy yet its so cool that you did this on the computer. The eyes really stand out.

Well, you really did manage to catch the age difference between the two. Just staring at it I can see that. The wrinkles on the old side and just the smooth looking skin on the young. The hair and even the lips look old. Good job!

Although, perhaps you could tone down the eyes on the old side. They just seem so young still, except for the eyelashes there.

I put one hand over the young side of the woman and man, she really did look old. You and your friend did an excellent job on this!

Wow, lovely!

One thing I notice is the hair. It's great how you've done it, but the hair on the younger side seems to just be coming out of nowhere, if you see what I mean. I think you should bring some down, level with the grey side if you see what I mean? Then you'd have more of a contrast.

The "old" side could do with a slightly lighter tone, a little grey to it. Might just develop the colours you've got going here and make it contrast somewhat more, yet still blending.

I don't have a lot more to say, but then perhaps a background might look good? You could show the old/young sides again with another, dark yet visible background. If you add one, keep it neat and let it blend in.

I am big into graphic art. And I love seeing people with talent to do computer drawings like this. I usually only end up doing big swirls of color or strange shapes contrasting another shape. Well On the younger side of the face, I loved the hair, it looked like you really put some time sand effort into it (when I edit a cartoon's hair I have to draw each individual strand and that what it looks like you did!) It has texture and shape and color and volume and I just loved it. I could stare at it all day! (sorry, the graphic artist in me likes it a lot.)

I also liked the eyebrows, the smudged looking wrinkles and skin tones and how you made the skin look realistic. Very nice, the only thing that I noticed is that the older womans hair looks a bit rushed and I dont know if you used a smudge tool on this but the eyelashes look just a little too smudged. But those are just about the only things that I noticed that were not perfect. loved the shape and color and every thing! Nice.
