A Bird.

A birdy I drew and coloured for Chinese New Year class decor,
Oil pastels. The circular thing at the bottom right is an 'artistic' way to write the chinese word meaning Fortune/Luck.
Tips to improve on the colouring, anyone?

I really like the boldness in the separation of colors. The monochratic background makes the bird really pop. The blending may have gone a little smoother, but the way it is slightly off works for this.The flowers look a little messy the way they disregard the outlines. I like they way the outlines themselves aren't just black and have a bit of the surrounding colors in them. Nice job.

Hey there Meep! I liked this; the bird really pops out and I loved how it wasn't much defined. So, I agree with everything above.
What kind of materials did you use for this?

The background is red because its a lucky colour according to chinese beliefs.
I used oil pastels and well...something black for outlining.

This is gorgeous! You're very good at art! The colors are so vivid; it's perfect. The only thing I would change is maybe making the beak a little bit more prominent.

Ooh, I really like this! It's so bold and the bird really pops out. The Chinese symbol adds to it. And you did this in pastels? I have so much trouble when I use those. The only thing is the bird's head. It looks kinda funny? Or maybe its just the beak like June said? Well, I love it. Good job Meep. It's bold, cool, simple and different all rolled into one. Wow meep this is beautiful! The only thing I would change about this are the colors you used. For me red and blue don't contrast too well. Maybe you could make the bird green (hehe, a green bird would be interesting...) and keep the background red? Or maybe even make the background slightly lighter? Other than that, great job on this! Having colored with pastels, I could never color anything without having it smudge...Yet, you seem to have accomplished this with ease...Excellent job! Oh, and gold star for you...as usual!

This is so beautiful! No for real. Except at the begging when I read the topic name I laughed because I thought "Who would look at a picture of a bird?" But now I see how Amazing it is! The only thing I think you should correct is the topic name because it sounds boring. If I would be you I would call it "The Bird of Fortune" or "The magical bird of luck".

This picture is really good! Birds (for me) are really hard to do because I dont like to get pictures off the internet but I cant draw actuall bird because they move too much but these are amazing!

I like the coloring. You're bird is so cute! I also like how you've included the Chinese character for luck as one of those stamp signature things. The only complaint I have is that the twig the bird is standing on is shaded so that it has less perspective. You can possibly darken the far away parts a little bit more or make the closer parts lighter. Besides that, awesome bird! xP

When I first saw this I was like WOW.
To be honest I thought it be a pokemon named Wailord at first but then I realized that it was a bird instead. It is very colored and the background suits it very well. You could working on the beak a little and if you decide not to, it doesn't matter. It looks good this way also.
