A/N: [A friend of mine and I had a 30 minute drawing session together, where we named something for eachother to draw and had 10 minutes to draw each. We were not allowed to edit the drawings afterwards. Here's what I was told to draw: ]

Car [I chose a Jaguar]

Dimensions towards the back are off-- my opponent was a great distraction. Wheels are un-round. We weren't allowed to use a compass or ruler :D.

Image

Bird: [I believe an osprey? When I chose it, I remembered the name; I was so NOT done on this one, but time was up.]
Image

A book and a rose. And a pen I didn't want to add.

xD I fail at drawing :D

Hiya June! Nice to see this stuff posted!

First drawing- The window is a bit sharp and at a downward angle here, and the front tire looks too big for it's wheel-base.
Second drawing- The bottom wing looks way bigger then the top wing, and the transition from body to tail feathers is quite sharp.
Third drawing- I consider this the best one. I like the pen and the crossed out line, but I find you could have kept the "writing" away from the edge a bit more. Most pf the time, people don't write so close to the edge, especially the bottom.

Um, you did these in ten minutes each? I could do maybe one in half an hour. Nice work!

alright, just to let you know, these pictures are GREAT to be ten minute drawings.
so,
Picture 1- Of course, the back window is a slightly angled down, but I think it gives the car kind of a trendy, fashionable look. I absolutely love the rims (and white walls?) on the wheels, too.

Picture 2- I just adore the way you shaded the tips of his wings almost perfectly, because I can never draw wings correctly, more or less shade them. I also like the smudges you used for the clouds and sky. By the way, the birds head has a very human like aspect to it, the way it's shaded makes it look like a human looking down at us.

Picture 3- the rose is absolutely stunning. Love it. The pen is rather distracting from the beauty of the book and the rose, but it does give a sort of elegance. Maybe a quill pen would be really cool.

Gracias for the review you two!

Actually, on the back window, it's supposed to have a drastic slant like that. The car really does have intense sloping going on with the back window ;).

Thanks, Amber! I'm actually considering redrawing that one-- without a time limit-- and replacing the pen with a quill pen :D

Well....
You've got talent better than me,I'll give ya that.
But,ah,well, that's not gonna win you anyawards.
A bit amatur.
The Car Pic-
I can see where you're going,but it needs work.Maybe color it,a backround,maybe?

The Bird Pic-
Nice details, but with practice, you can get it better.add a bit more shading, give it a geometrical shape. How many birds actually look completely flat?

The Book Pic-
This is personally my favorite.Very pretty. But,you should work on the pen.It looks like it is floating.

great work,all in all,though.

You can draw really well. I could never draw like that, not in my lifetime. Well, onto the critique.

First- The door looks like it's bulging a bit. Maybe make it so it's a bit more narrow? The shadow seems a bit flat. I don't know, since if I've seen a Jaguar, I wouldn't recognize it.

Second- I love the left wing, but the one on the right seems a bit off. It's more smudged in the middle, but in the left, you put lines there showing the feathers. The head, body, and tail seem perfect, and the clouds are great.

Third- Like the others said, it's my favorite. The rose is so beautifully drawn, and the book is simple but elegant. The pen kind of draws attention, but it looks good too. One minor complaint: The pages seem too perfect. Maybe a crease or two would make it better. Just my opinion.

Overall, you've done an amazing job on this. Ten minutes on each of these, and I'd still be stuck on the outline. You've completed three great drawings here, you should be proud of yourself. Well done!
There once was a cat.
He wasn’t particularly fat.
Fuzzy was his favorite mat.
And really, that was that.

Oh, but did you really think so?
Keep reading, it’s just the start of the show!
And as for how far this tale will go…
Well, even the cat doesn’t know.

Hi you reviewed my work so im gonna review urs!

1st drawing - The car is better then any car i can draw but from a critical eye-- the tires are off the front tires is a lot bigger then the back one and the car itself is thinner is the middle
otherwise good job!
2nd drawing - I loved the bird! once again from critical eye the wings are off one is bigger then the other! and the feathers are sharp not soft like they are in reality. Im a big fan of animal drawings, im opinionated on these cause my friend is an amazing drawer (of animals!)
3rd drawing - My fave of the 3 (i like to draw flowers) The flower doesnt seem like its laying on something and the pen looks like its leviating (haha) from the shading but the book itself is really good!!

Overall you did a really good job on all three!!!
Thanks for your reviews!!

Juuuune! :D I apologize before hand, because I didn't take the time to read the other comments, so I'll have most likely repeated everything. xD Oh well.

First Sketch: Maybe it's just me, but the right hand tire looks strangely placed... I think it could've been moved a little to the left. But I'm just being nitpicky. The left window's rim is a little thick. The window's could have used of shine. I love the shading on the car though. It makes the car kind of... pop! The shading underneath the car, however, is kind of awkward. It should have been more heavily shaded directly under the tire. But I love it. You really got down the shape of the car. I suck at that. xD

Second Sketch: That's a lovely birdie! The wing on the left is comparably bigger than the other, but it's still really good! He's missing legs though, which makes his torso awkward. The shape of the wings is very good. You can tell clearly he's swooping! :D

Third Sketch: I love the rose so much! It's very realistic in a... cartoony way? xD If that makes sense? I love the way the rose isn't just a flat, shadeless bulb as roses are often captured as in drawings. The petals look really delicate, the way they're folded! And the thorns are awesome. The text on the book should have curved as it got closer to the spine, and it's kind of smudgy. The pen sort of looks like it's floating above the book, but the pen looks very realistic! Yay!

Anywhoo, I'm sorry for all the little nitpicks. Just things I noticed.

Heya June!

Loved the pictures, they're awesome. Ten times better than anything I could ever draw.

1st pic: the back end looks kinda odd...but since you only had 10 minutes and no other drawing utensils I'm not going to say anything else.

2nd pic: I know this has been said up there, but the one wing looks way bigger than the other. But other than that, great pic!

3rd pic: This was my favourite. The pen does kinda take something away from the pic but like Amber said, a quill pen would match the rose and book much better.

Good job on those. They're great!

These are pretty wicked for being only ten min! So you don't fail  the car is pretty good, and I liked the bird; but I wish I could have seen a little more of a definition of the feathers. my favorite has to be the book and the rose one though. I love the ribbon! I also applaud you for being able to write in a straight line, I know I can never get my free-hand to come out that neat DX the only thing I find off about the piece is the shadow for the pen is a little large. . . But other than that great work!

Wow! I really like your sketches, especially the one at the bottom with the rose, book and pen. It was realy really nice. You captured every detail and drew them out, even the thorns on the rose. Every thing is drawn into proportion and is really like an artist's drawing.

I doubt you can fail your art with that kind of skill =) Maybe consider drawing or sketching lessons if you are really dissatisfied with your artwork and sketches.

This is what I really envy about many writers-cum-artists here:
Your shading is so smooth, flowing and awesome!
Mine always comes out very 'fake' because you can see where I make the shade darker or lighter.
My guess is you used an eraser to smudge the shading.

I loved the drawings on the whole.
Excellent work for 10 minutes :D

Wow!! That was awesome. I can't draw very well so I'm like so jealous. LOL

I really like the 3rd picture. I think the pen kind of threw it off a little though. But it was still good.

Maybe you should make it a quill pen next time.
