Hi Mary! My tip is to just lurk for awhile and make friends, as well as ask questions. I usually lurk to see how people have formatted the story, so then I can avoid mistakes when posting mine. Reading other reviews can also help you when you have to make your own reviews for someone else's writing. I'm glad to meet you. See you around on YWS. =)

Hi, everyone! I just signed up, but looking at the time, I realize that I should probably be in bed. Nevertheless, I just wanted to stop by, say hi, and tell you a little about myself.
My name is Kaileigh, and I'm 16 years old. I'm very happy to be Canadian, and I'm proud of my igloo. I frequently feel very frustrated by the knowledge that there is enough water, food, and money for everyone in the world to live comfortably, yet so many people live in poverty. I hate to admit it, but the glaring truth is:
I'm not fat, but I wish I were thinner;
I'm not short, but I wish I were taller;
My hair's not thin, but I wish it were thicker;
I'm not weak, but I wish I were stronger.

I'm not a particularly good artist, but I like to pretend I am. I love to read and write, but more and more I feel that my writing lacks in many areas, which is why I'm here. My life's goal is to make new friends (but keep the old ones), surround myself with family and friends, make a living reading and writing, and make a difference through the things I write and the people I meet. Some may say that I see the world through rose-coloured glasses, but I am very aware of everything that is wrong in the world- the difference between myself and the naysayers is that I believe I can do something to change these things, and I strive to do so every day.

I'm off to bed now, but I'm really looking forward to returning to explore the site tomorrow!

Everyone has those things that they would like to make different about themselves. Or, at least I am the same way.

You have come to the right place to improve your writing, and it sounds like you are a person that is hard on yourself. You probably aren't as bad as you think, plus everyone starts somewhere. There is always room for improvement. What kind of writing do you do?

Pssst... Is this where I post my introduction thingamajig?

Okay, well I'm HBOMB. My real name is Henry, but you don't need to know that (That handsome man you see to the left of this post is me, by the way) I've been doing creative writing for about, oh three-four years. Mostly its been silly fanfiction stuff about Star Wars :S But I've been having a fantasy story cooking in my brain for a while now, so just yesterday I started putting it down on paper (er, Microsoft word )

And then I found myself looking for a place where I could post what I've written and get new ideas from my peers! And whoa! Look at that! Young Writers Society!! Who would've known? And then BAM! Here I am!

So a little about myself? Uhhhh I'm fifteen years old, in Highschool Sophomore Year. Been doing martial arts for about six years now. Big Star Wars fan, big Lord of the Rings fan and yup!

I'll probably be posting some of my story eventually. Maybe not for a while since the quarter is winding down and I could do well without distractions. But I look forward to reading your works and I hope you'll look forward to reading mine! (Holy carp that was a little too formal there! Scared myself O.o)
